This book doesn't really seem to have a protagonist on a journey. It just seems to be telling a story, one where I don't know who to root for (I don't like any of them).

This is different from the author's other books I read. Where there is an extremely strong character that slaps away the opposition.
This book does have a very strong person, but unlike the other books, he is strongly in the villain camp.

I really don't see myself continuing the series. Nothing that is happening is of interest to me (maybe I read too many power fantasies? maybe I'm fed up of the desert fantasy setting?).

This may work for others, but it doesn't interest me.

Thanks again to this author for making his hard work available for us to listen to on Youtube.

Cons:
I wasn't too crazy about this book. I felt like he could have gone a bit more in depth in certain situations. Characters didn't ever seem to mind what was happening to them. This is a common problem one sees with plotters. We tend to hit those plot points and some of the life (that gardeners are so great at) falls by the wayside.
Shara was also not my favourite. She was the damsel in distress. Everything happened TO her, which was very frustrating for me.
And the Deus Ex Machina ending didn't do it for me. I was really hoping

Pros:
But, there's lots of action and adventure. There's an interesting antagonist and people less finicky than me will definitely enjoy this story.

And it's free! :)

DNF. Cool concepts and worldbuilding, but the characters are flat and generic. The cliche dialogue made it difficult to progress the story, and by the time I finished the first act, I was disinterested with the rest of the story.

Despite an underwhelming ending, I still enjoyed it a lot

Okay series, but don't know if I'll read more. We'll see. I have plenty of other books to read.
