So... I didn't handle the zombie apocalypse well.
I used to be a third-grade teacher, but since the Gorging, my life has been...kinda rotten. I lost my group to the undead, became indebted to one of the gangs, and now I've been sold as a blood-slave.
My new owner is Atlan, one of the vampire warriors who guard Blue City's walls and defend us from the zombies. The vampires ar

There’s something about this book that GRABBED me from the first page. Okay, a lot of somethings. Love the characters, broken and full of desire. Totally dig the worldbuilding—vampires and zombies with a really cool backstory. The romantic tension is DIVINE between Finley and Atlan.

Now, I’m not a horror reader. But this is more of what I’d call speculative fiction romance…paranormal romance with some horror thrown in. If you like paranormal romance but aren’t crazy about horror, there’s a very

Fascinating world building and excellent characterization!

I love a good dystopian novel and The Vampires Will Save You is an excellent example of the genre. The author paints the bleak future of the zombie apocalypse vividly so that you can see, smell, and almost touch it. Her characters are believable too. Finley is a scrappy heroine who has been through a lot and it’s easy to identify with her. Perhaps more surprising is the hero, Atlan. The author doesn’t write him as a typical brooding, arr

I binged it in a night, and now I'm annoyed that I don't have the rest of the series in paperback yet.

While I love post-apocalyptic type books, I usually get pretty annoyed about zombies. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Kenney handled some pretty over-used mosters (zombies and vampires). I'm invested in this world she's created with science run amok, and interested to see how more of it reveals itself in the upcoming books.

I also enjoyed the characters. Finley and Atlan are probably the l

Seriously Addicting!

I started this last night before bed, stayed up way too late reading, and polished it off this morning. Loved every moment. Dark, gritty, tender, and sweet. The perfect contradiction.

'Touching isn't all about sex, after all. It can also be about trust, and relief, and safety, and quiet sensation.'

This was such an unexpected pleasure! The premise of the story is, there's been a zombie apocalypse, and now vampires protect humans by fighting the zombies. In this world, the vampires used to be terminally ill humans who were saved/changed with a serum, and they need either human blood-hires or blood-slaves to keep them going. We find Finley being sold as a blood-slave at the sta

Maybe I’m just a junkie, looking for my next adrenaline rush. Not enough shock value, even when the bad vampire got to her in her bed. I shouldn’t be just looking on with mild interest. Should be invested in her well-being. But it was more like, meh. Just do something interesting already.

Plus- the MMC is a bit immature- who makes such a show in killing the zombies and enjoys it like that- acting like a celebrity- catering to the spectators. It’s not cool when you’re killing all the bad g

4 stars! I loved this one. Really enjoyed it. I’ve already purchased the next two and will be picking up the second one soon. Can’t wait!

Great take on vampires. Loved how different they are in this world.

Highly recommend.

Good book! A somewhat quick read, but this is book one of a trilogy. The rest of the trilogy is out, though Goodreads doesn’t link them all as a trilogy, so you’ll have to look up each title (Amazon does link the three books though).

This is an interesting world that takes place in the near future. Vampires were created about 50 years ago (relative to the time the book takes place) when some cancer treatment research went sideways—the test subjects were cured of cancer, but also developed fangs,

If you follow my reviews, you'll know by now that I'd happily read Rebbeca Kenney's grocery list.
'The Vampires Will Save You' is no exception to the wonderfulness that is her writing. A different spin on a romance, this post-apocalyptic tale is gripping, gruesome and sweet.
Finley is surviving the zombie apocalypse as best she can when she's captured and sold as a blood slave to a vampire warrior. YEP. Vampires are real. Not like Edward Cullen and crew. These vampires were created as a side effe

I really like Atlan and Finley and I love the whole concept that the series is based off of with the accidental making of the vampires and then a replica Serum gone wrong causing the zombie apocalypse and the few original vampires are the only ones strong enough and unaffected by the zombies to save everyone. I loved that. It’s unique and fun. I love Atlan’s strong yet soft personality and his moral codes he abides by. For me the first book was amazing and fun and different than the average zomb ...more

I read the sample and was intrigued by the premise, so immediately popped it into my cart. The book did not disappoint. This is my first read of a dystopian, zombie apocalypse-style book and I didn't think it would be something up my alley, but surprise, it was! Well written, with interesting characters that you can root for (and not roll your eyes at), and a well-paced plot. I'm interested in where the next book will take us! ...more

I am not much into zombie dystopia stories. Just not my cup of tea, but I will read them from time to time if there are other elements that interest me.

Fortunately The Vampires Will Save You has a lot of things that lured me in. Straight from the first scene begins the journey of Finley Mars where she is being auctioned as a slave. When zombies are killing a vast amount of the world population, it seems like decent human society suffers a nose dive. The only thing Finley hopes for is that her ne

Zombies and vampires battling it out in a post-apocalyptic world? Yes please!

The Vampires Will Save You is such a fun read. The origin of the vampires, and subsequently the zombies, were unique. The massive zombies hordes, along with the continuation of society behind walls and within isolated communities, reminded me a lot of Days Gone--which is a big plus!

I related a lot to Finley. She's a strong character and comes across as a badass who doesn't take shit from anyone, but she's not immune to

I quite enjoyed this. Apocalyptic, Vampire, Zombie, LGBTQ+ fiction, with action and romance.

Most of vampires in the novel lack any sexual libido. The main male protagonist, Atlan, is on the Asexual spectrum. And the main female protagonist, Finley, explains Ace and tries to figure out what Atlan’s sexual and romantic identity is. I think he is Demisexual/Questioning.

There are quotes like:

“Touching isn't all about sex, after all. It can also be about trust, and relief, and safety, and quiet sensa

My anxiety is through the roof!!! Like nothing really bad happened in this book, but I know it's coming. That ending was too suspicious! Ugh I can't even function with all the directions my mind is going. Please please let Finley and Atlan survive. They are an awesome bad ass team! There is something seriously wrong with those doctors. I'm terrified in what's in those crates. I have watched way too many vampire and zombie shows to trust doctors in a post apocalyptic Era. And there is something s ...more

This was an interesting story dealing with vampires without much sex drive and who are saviors of humanity against zombies. I liked how the romance developed. BUT - this ends in a big cliffhanger, which is definitely not my favorite thing. In fact, the story just ends midway through a mission, so it doesn’t even feel like a real ending. There is some emotional resolution, but I wish that had been wrapped up BEFORE they go out on a mission. It would have been a much more satisfied ending to this ...more

Finley scrambles to survive in a post apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Sold as a 'blood bag' slave to a warrior vampire, Atlan, she soon discovers that he's not what he seems.

Reading as a romance set within a sci fi setting, with a side helping of fantasy, the mash up is a delight and I tore through this story. The developing relationship between our feisty heroine and the angst ridden, sword twirling vampire leaves the reader rooting for both, whilst becoming increasingly besieged by sudde

Picked this up on a whim, sorry to my poor neglected TBR, and was such a surprisingly good read!
The balance between the horror, gore, and brutal reality of the zombie apocalypse and the sweet utterly endearing relationship between Atlan and Finley was a real treat! Oftentimes with apocalypse books they get too bleak for me but this book never felt overly dark while definitely not shying away from the violence and horrors.
It still managed a certain lightness that made it fun.

The Best Ever!!

‘The Vampire Will Save You’ is the first book in the series “Pandemic Monsters” by Rebecca F. Kenney. Totally never thought I would enjoy this story so much! It is well written, that the characters have depth and the story is original! It is a page turn from the first word to the last, twists and turns, suspense and a beautifully written romantic story. The story is a standalone but it doesn’t end there. I enjoyed it so much that I have ordered the other two books in the series, a

Well written dystopian romance

It was a good book in a dystopian setting with gross zombies and sexy vampires that both fit and broke the mold. I enjoyed it. It isn't 10 stars bc I don't think I'm the perfect reader for this type of dyatopian setting. But for those who want a romantic type book in a post apocalyptic world that reminded me of Warm Bodies then they'd like this too

When I say this book is good I mean I stayed up all night reading till my eyes wouldn’t stay open anymore.

Sooo good. Slow 🔥 and the tension building up.

Love the world building. Dystopian zombie apocalypse, vampires that fight the zombies.

Atlan is a vampire that fights against the zombie hoards that threaten the city. He is not your typical vampire for sure.

Finley is sold as a blood slave but she’s not you typical blood bag.

This book was amazing. The writing was more simplistic than I like but the plot and the chemistry between the mc’s made up for it.

The action scenes had my heart pumping, the sweet scenes had me smiling. This is a SLOW burn. The book focuses more on plot than romance but it works and makes the little romance that much sweeter.

One of the better vampire books I’ve read, a creative take on the vampire spin.

Boy oh boy well Vampire!!!!

This was so well written! It’s kinda scary as well! Like what if the world does get taken over by zombies? I love the world that the Author made! My question would be what would you be in this world? I love how it’s a POV! The spicy is there but is a 6/10 for me! Can’t wait to start book 2!

It pulled me in right away. I loved how the vampire's were born from trying to cure cancer. But then zombies became true from different vaccines to make next gent vampire's. Awesome to see she used vampire's to help fight of the zombies and how they suck blood in by the fangs to help have fresh blood in their system. Love blossoms and some crime happens.

I'm honestly kinda annoyed. This book could have been really good. But it wasn't.... the characters were weak, the pros were lacking, the pacing was off and the plot was a bit of a mess.

I read this book like 2 months ago and completely forgot about it until I saw it in my kindle library. Thats how unremarkable it was.
I just finished this book about 3 minutes ago. I wish I could give it more stars than 5. From beginning to end, I was completely in love. Thank you Rebecca F. Kenney, for giving me a stupid huge smile while reading this. In return I give you my undying love as a loyal reader and fan. Epic writing. Loved it all!
