Love Makes Us Do Crazy Things...

The quiet city of Bristol is is rudely awakened by the horrific death of a young male, his body found torn wide open with an organ removed. At the same time that this is found, a local woman who works on a tv show starts receiving threatening messages. Her car is defaced and she feels as if someone is watching her, in a way that scares her, not her usual fans. Detective Ryan Chase sure has his work cut out for him this time.
The investigation by the Team with DI Chase looks into everything, finding an ID for the victim and following a roller coaster trail of tracks to find the cases may be related! A story that leaves you wondering just what you would do in any of the scenarios the characters find themselves in here.
A thrilling, fast-paced story with a police officer we have come to know having to use all his skills to keep others safe.

Book 3 in the detective Chase series. Let me start by saying i absolutely love this series and i love M.K Farrar what a genius she is!!

Chase and the team are called to a murder site. A young man is found dead with a missing organ. The team have no idea what this means who is the man? why is he missing an organ? who killed him and why? There's a crazed killer out there and they are not finished killing. Chase is on the case however he also has the issue of his daughters killer waking from his coma.

My love for Chase i cannot describe, he's such a loveable character who clearly has a wide range of issues but he is always on the case. He cannot find the link or understand why these people are being targeted. Even with the team it has the entire team at a loss. With this hard case he is even more overwhelmed with the fact his daughters killer is waking from his coma. He still can't recall whether or not he is responsible for the 'accident' he had and therefore the idea of him waking is a nightmare, the fear he could be facing charges himself is too much. When more bodies start to show up Chase has to get his head in the game and work out what is happening, especially as the next body is missing an organ also.

running along side the chase Narrative we have a TV reporter and a young girl The reporter has a story she is chasing, but it seems her life might be in danger also because her car is keyed and she is being watched. But why?
The girl who we follow also is quite depressed and feels like her parent's are over bearing. Yes she has to live slightly differently due to her health but she's an adult and wants to be treated like one. So when the reporter contacts her to appear on her show she doesn't realise but her life is now in danger.
It was great reading all their POV in the story trying to work out who the killer is and what the women have to do with it. I guessed the reason for the murders straight away but the killer i didn't have a clue, it was great!!!!!

Good characters are only part of what makes a good detective series, the writing skills are what truly makes a good book. I love the way Farrar describes scenes so well i can imagine that i am there yet she doesn't over describe which really makes me happy. At crime scenes, i can see what is being told which makes me feel like i am truly part of the gang. Also the legal process is done correctly which always makes me happy.

Honestly if you haven't read the Detective Chase series then stop what you are doing and pick up book number 1, you will not be let down!! Farrar writes in such a way that keeps me completely hooked from beginning to end. I was up all night and i must say finding out the killer was all i could focus on. Plus the books based in Bristol, UK i live there so that always makes me happy. easy 5 stars my favourite so far in the series. If you like Carla Kovach, Helen Phifer or Wendy Dranfield you will love this series

Thank you M.K Farrar for the digital ARC of paper chase. #NumberOneFan

This is book three of the Detective Ryan Chase Thriller series and in this book DI Chase is faced with the murder of an unidentified young man, whilst still dealing with his OCD and black outs. He worries about his daughter’s killer finally being able to describe the events of the night he fell from a bridge, ending up in a coma. The murder case means all hands on deck and he was supposed to take his ex-wife Donna to her hospital appointment where she would find out how her cancer treatment had gone. His sarge DS Mallory Lawson offers to cover for him and forces him to go to the hospital to support her. The murder victim has one very strange clue to his possible identity, he has been cut open from chest to abdomen and his liver hacked out and missing. It has been done too roughly to be of use to a black market organ donor scheme. Why it has been removed, may well reveal who he is and why it happened to him. The empty warehouse the murder victim’s body was found in, has no clues apart from a partial shoe print with no CCTV nearby or any witnesses. It’s going to be another long slog to figure out who the victim is, before they can work out why they were selected by the killer.
A local TV journalist Tova Lane, has been getting some worrying messages left for her, one on her car and another in a card at her home address. She worries she may have a stalker fan following her around. When the young murder victim’s name is revealed she realises she knew him, having interviewed him for her previous program for her series Tova’s Questions. She used to be a reporter and was lucky to get onto the TV side of journalism and is looking to do a follow up program on her recent success. Someone is warning about who might be next and those questions are directed towards Tova, so there must be a connection to her or one of her recent programs. DI Chase and DS Mallory must work out the connection and what is being done with the missing part of the victim. They need to work fast before another victim falls prey to this killer! Unfortunately their killer wants something back and they are deranged enough to take it no matter what harm it does to others. The killer is revealed in a shocking ending after lies are uncovered and the killer takes another innocent victim. Another hard case for Chase and Mallory with an unidentified victim and a killer who is clearly out of control. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

This was a very thought provoking book for me. It made me question how I would feel if ever put into that situation. I know I would never react the same way that the suspect here did, but I can understand how a person's brain would have a hard time in this situation. Sometimes it just doesn't pay to exploit some things!

I found this to be a fast paced book, and a fast read that I didn't put down from start to finish. I am really looking forward to the next installment of this series! Another winner!

M.K. Farrar has given us another page turning, suspenseful, mystery that held me captive from the first page until the last. When a body is found with an organ removed Detective Ryan Chase is on the case. This case takes some interesting turns as a local celebrity gets pulled into the case. This is a well written story with well developed characters and another definite must read in a fantastic series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Out planted.

A young man is found dead, his innards outside his body.
Post mortem reveals that he is missing his liver.
When he is identified, he had a liver transplant three months previously and that is the organ that is missing.
Who would want a liver, it had been roughly removed, no use for transplantation to some one else.
Was it coincidence that the dead man, Logan had recently appeared on a TV show meeting his donor's wife & children.
It's a good read finding out.

As gruesome as ever, this story delves into the darker side of humanity. DI Chase must solve the crime of the murder of a man whose liver has been taken.

I liked how the personal lives of Ryan and Mallory were part of the story so to give further depth and reality. This series highlights not only the awful things that humans can do but also that the police are human, too.

Great plot, and yes, I did work out 'whodunit', but it was engaging and well-written.

Recommended.

I enjoyed the first two books in n the DI Chase series but this one I found less engaging. While the overall story line was interesting. I found I wasn’t connecting to the characters as much. I even forgot this was located in Bristol as there was no mention of any locality throughout the book.

I may pick up the next one in the series at some point but certainly not rushing to read it next…

Hurt Lover Turned Murderer

This series is a slow series to get into, but portrays alot of day to day leg work detectives have to do per case, so makes sense. This one portrays a hurt lover turned murder, but you'd never guess who it was until the last couple chapters!

predictable

I got who the killer was at about 50% thru the book. Total bummer and made finishing it a struggle. I probably won’t continue to read this series as it’s not interesting or challenging enough. Glad I only spent .99.

Good story

Interesting characters and a complicated mystery make this story a real page turner. The character development of the main team also keeps the story engaging.

Real page turner

I'm really enjoying this new series, great character's and good storylines. This one certainly had me gripped from beginning to the end. Would be nice to see Ryan move forward with his life now, a new love interest would be good. Looking forward to the next book.
