The scary alien hunter has his eyes on me. He’s got sharp fangs, massive claws, huge horns, and walks around in nothing more than a loincloth! Totally terrifying! So why is my body betraying me and reacting in ways it shouldn’t?
With troublemakers inside the gates and deadly space bugs roaming outside, I soon realize Mal’k is the last person I should fear. Because in this crazy bugpocalypse, a hyper-protective Xarc’n warrior is the very thing I need.
MAL’K
I know she’s mine the moment I lay eyes on her. Too bad Meghan’s terrified of me. My human is frightened of everything and cries out in fear, even in her dreams. I long to chase away her demons and wake with her in my arms.
When she leaves the hunters’ compound to live with a group of humans, I follow along, offering to help them forage. She may whimper at the sight of me now, but I’ll never give up until she whimpers under me.
While this is a complete romance with an HEA, it is best read as part of a series.
Lynnea Lee is a recovered serial monogamist who now lives in her forever home with the man of her dreams. Still hopelessly addicted to the feeling of falling in love she now feeds her habit with a routine prescription of romance novels and rampant imagination. When she is not dreaming up fantastical stories of love, lust and romance, her hobbies includes talking to her plants, putting on a full face of makeup to stay home on Saturday nights and hugging her dog longer than is appreciated.

The heroine:Meghan - she came from the same group that Nikki from Rescued by the Hunter. That para-military group doesn’t want to give up the women because they use them for cooking, cleaning and other, more sinister activities. They had taken the women’s shoes so if they tried to escape, they would have to do so barefoot. Though Meghan didn’t care and escaped without their shoes. She is now staying with the New Franklin survivors contingent of humans.
The Hero:Mal’k - he is obsessed with Meghan and keeps sniffing her because he knows that she is his mate. However, he sees that she is wary of him and he can smell her fear. His chest starts rumbling whenever she is near.
The Story: Meghan is afraid of all the hunters including Mal’k. She nearly fainted when he smiled at her with his sharp, pointed teeth. She tried to stay away from him and did her best to keep from being alone with him. He can’t understand why she is so afraid of him and Meghan locks up whenever he is near.
Like the rest of the series, this book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. Troy Duran and Keira Stevens do the narration and along with the good storylines, and world building are a big part of why I bought every audiobook in this series. I love Troy’s deep clear voice and Keira sounds young and is great at showing emotions through her voice.
The continuing story of the bugpocalypse was good. In this one the two main characters and the rest of the survivors of New Franklin have moved closer to the compound where the Xarc’n warriors and their mates live. They were fighting against the para-military group and also within their group there were some that were against the hunters and were causing dissidence within the group.
Im going to vent about Meghan so ignore or enjoy lmao
Weak FMC 🙄🙄i knew I wasn’t going to be a fan of Meghan from the other book bc she was literally terrified of everything/and warriors.
I don’t like whimps, Meghan is a whimp. Especially considering she’s in the damn bug apocalypse, like girl get yourself together and move on. She was all the time screaming, running away. She needed someone to slap some sense into her and tell her to shake it off.
The whole time she literally didn’t even defend mal’k, just sat there while he got shit on by people. Like come on???
She got “better” towards the end, so it wasn’t too bad.
I really liked mal’k ,tho he deserved better.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and I’m absolutely loving the whole series. Earth has been overtaken by space bugs and the warriors who were created to defeat them have come to help rescue those who are on earth and while they are at it, they are meeting there fated mates. Meghan Is terrified of the warriors even though she knows they are helping to rid the earth of the bugs. Mal’k Knows that Meghan is his fated mate and he will do anything to protect her but he is upset that she is so scared of him, but he is giving her the space that she needs so that she can be comfortable with him. But space bugs are not all that Meghan needs to worry about.

This well written book 6 in The Xarc'n Warriors Book Series is an exciting story with well-constructed characters and scenes. These amazing characters have unique personalities, engaging histories and realistic actions. This story has the following: intrigue, twists, turns, adventure, action, love, chemistry and a HEA. It is a fast-paced, Alien Romance story that will keep entertained start to finish. A must for any Alien Romance reader.
These books are written so well. I love these ones so far. They are an automatic click for me. They do have some triggers because apocalypse. And bugs if that is a trigger for you. But the romance is always sweet and always one I love to read!

Book six brings us Meghan and Mal’k’s story. Meghan suffered through some trauma when she lived with the raiders. They were very bad men that didn’t respect women. As a result, she was afraid of everything and everyone, especially the big alien purple hunters that came to Earth to save what was left of humanity from the giant alien bugs that triggered the bugpocalypse. She was rescued in the last book and now lives with a different group of humans close to the hunter compound. Mal’k recognized Meghan as his mate and was willing to do anything to convince his Little Red he’s the one for her. He had his work cut out for him.
My favorite part of the story was when Meghan was forced to take care of herself in bug infested territory. Her courage proved she was not a coward at heart. I really liked how she eventually worked her way through all her fears opening the door for her happy ending with Mal’k.
This story adds more detail and color to the post-apocalyptic world the author created for the bugpocalypse. A new human community formed next to the hunter’s compound hoping for help and mutual cooperation with the established hunter community. This brings hope that civilization can take root again at some point. The hunters are also starting to notice there is something strange happening to the giant bugs. Some bugs seem to be getting sick. It might be a clue for things to come in future installments of this series. I can’t wait to find out how the author pulls humanity out of this pickle.
I can’t say enough how much I like this series. I highly recommend it. It has lots of action, adventure, intrigue, and steam.

Love and Hate. Those two emotions battle inside my heart when it comes to this series. The world building always feels like it's cut short and so do the relationships. There's always a great and interesting start and an awesome end but I feel like the middle is just cut out and let's be honest the middle is what we read it for. The development of the relationship. The tension all of that gets whittled down so that way this book can be a bite-sized read and it's annoying in the most addictive way possible. Mal'k is another example of such a well-thought-out hero. I absolutely love these alien hunters and their personalities just come alive off of the page. However, Mehgan... She was the most unlikable female character I have ever read. And there were no instances where she grew or redeemed herself. She spent the entire book like a scared battered little woman and I get it. It's an apocalypse and you've been through some shit but how can you not show up for the one person showing up for you that in my opinion is unforgivable. She uses Mal'k like she used everything else in this book as a way to keep herself safe. In this case the mating bond and her desperate need for safety overrode any love I could believe that she had for him and that just made me want better for Mal'k. He was too good for her. Well, time to get my heart broken by the next book.
This was another great addition to the Xarc'n Warriors Series. This book focuses on Mal'k and Meghan and how they get together while the people at the survivor's settlement Meghan is now living with are dealing with a bunch of anti-hunter members who try to sabotage the settlement and cause a split amongst them. This book can be read as a standalone and while I have read other books from this series (Books 01 - 04, Book 07, Book 11) I haven't read them all yet, although I plan to and am looking forward to reading Rayk’n's story next in Captured by the Hunter.
This is book 6 in the Xarc’n series. You could read this as a stand-alone, but it reads much better as part of the series. In the last 5 books the world building, relationships, conflicts, etc are very well developed, so reading this as part of the series feels like revisiting old friends.
This book picks up from the last with Mal’k helping the survivors from the run down school move closer to the Warriors compound. He obviously goes because he is enthralled by Meghan, who is doing everything she can to avoid him! He is persistent though. lol
Meghan has had a tough time since the “bugpocalypse” and is wary and afraid most of the time. She hates this about herself, but it is what it is. She does recognize the Warriors are there to help, but is not as enthused to have an admirer.
I liked this book because it showed a different perspective to a different kind of female lead. She is a good person that bad things have happened to and she is stuck in the fight/flight/freeze cycle. She is miserable, but afraid to change. I think this is very realistic for a lot of people and I like how the author shows this and doesn’t portray her as a coward for being this way. It actually takes Mal’k pointing out things to Meghan for her to stop thinking of herself as a coward. I love how she comes into her personal strength and confidence.
The storyline continues with the problems the survivors face with the raiders and dissenters. I like where the story goes by the end, but I am sure we haven’t seen the last of these troublemakers.
The story does bring in a couple of new characters and sets the next book up for Rayk’n and a mysterious person and their dog. :) I love how far the community is coming and you see pros and cons during this book. This is such an easy, enjoyable read. I love this series. Highly recommend.

I was excited to read about Meghan and Mal’k when I read the blurb about him going to help at the human settlement in the previous book; however, I felt a bit disappointed after I finished this story.
I expected Meghan to be like the other woman in the series: scared at first but brave at the end. While this did eventually happen, I couldn’t help but feel increasingly annoyed with Meghan’s character. In my opinion, her constant fearful actions and jumping to conclusions without reviewing the facts severely ruined this book for me. I know the bug-infested world was perilous, and she might have developed PTSD because of it, but it felt like the author ramped it up too much in this book. Her codependency, meek personality, and pacifistic nature were expected, but when she finally got the courage to do something, the event itself felt too short, rushed, and superficial. Having a strong, fierce alien as the love interest is always attractive, but I couldn’t help but want more from Meghan.
Circling back to the “jumping to conclusions” element, this specific event made me really angry. I won’t give away any spoilers; however, I will say this: I understood her avoidance of bloodshed, but drastic and permanent actions were a severe necessity in that circumstance. The night previous, she told Mal’k she loved him, but when he really needed her support, she ran like a coward and eventually got herself into more trouble because of it. Reading this made it seem like Meghan only loved the protection and care he represented and not the man/alien he was. Because of that, her love for him felt really fake.
All in all, this book was a good continuation of the series and possessed some nice spicy scenes, but sadly, it’s rated as my least favorite so far.
I never know what to expect with the cover art as to what the book will be like, especially one this beautiful. What I discovered in this book is a pretty plausible scenario of what an alien takeover would actually look like. The planet being overrun by oversized killer bugs, don't know that another species would bother to help us but I do believe it would very quickly become a Lord of the Flies situation. People would branch off in different groups, not just resistance or militia, but just desperate, scared people trying to survive. Which makes the female lead character, the self-proclaimed coward, so very relatable.
It's easy swooning over a large, sexy alien who wants to find. protect, and love a mate. But for him to fall for the meek and not traditionally beautiful, well, can't wait for the hot scenes and they definitely are not just steamy bits but Smokin' HOT scenes that you will definitely read more than once.
Have to say that the way the mating bond shows itself, by not allowing the male to release his hold on his mate is a little weird but funny.
On a separate note, I loved the ability to have 360° scenes to see outside the ship and created images of what would've been his home planet.
As much as it is a Sci-fi Romance, it's also an engaging read and one you won't want to put down. I had never read this author before but it made me look for the other books in the series. It's that good!

Meghan has survived the bugpocalypse on earth for the last year and a half. She is afraid of absolutely everything. She was abused by humans in the last group that she was with. She is finally with a group of good humans who are being aided by the Xarc’n warriors. She is absolutely terrified by the warriors even though she knows they are good and are protecting the humans. She wished she wasn’t afraid of everything but can’t seem to change.
Mal’k is a Xarc’n warrior that is used to being by himself. He doesn’t have very good social skills like some of the other warriors because he has always been alone. He hasn’t really cared to much about that because that’s just the way it is, until he meets Meghan. He loves her smell and is pretty sure she is his mate, but she is so terrified of him he is afraid to push her. He is hoping that by being around her and helping she will eventually get used to him. When that doesn’t seem to be working he grabs her and locks her in his shuttle with him.
I love this series and the Xarc’n males. I can’t believe how patient Mal’k is with Meghan. There were several times I just wanted to slap her and tell her to man up! But when danger comes calling she knows that he will come for her.

Earth has been taken over by giant bug aliens. Giant purple warrior aliens (Karc’n aliens) arrived not long after the bugs offering to help the humans. The Earth governments refused help and things got worse. Now there are groups of survivors, raiders, bugs and chaos. Meghan is apart of the survivors group and she just trying to find her place after so much bad. Mal’k is Karc’n and he is helping the survivor group because he knows Meghan is his mate. It’s a struggle because Meghan is still trying to get use to the Karc’n and that the government lied. Mal’k made a bad first impression so she runs from him any chance she gets. Slowly she starts seeing him as more that a giant scary alien and more as her protector. They have a scary incident with a group of trouble makers on their way out of the survivors group but Mal’k will do anything to keep his mate. This is an interesting read. I’m a regular romcom and paranormal reader but I do like to read sci-fi romance here and there. This book was not disappointing at all. There was a bugapocalypse, giant purple warrior aliens, drama and it’s an HEA. It a great read for anyone. It sucks you in and you need to know how it all works out.

I loved reading this book. It’s about a sweet but fierce Xarc’n warrior and a human female who is scared of everything. Despite that Mal’k manages to spend time with Meghan and she becomes less scared of him even if he has to steal her to make it happen. There’s lots of fighting the scourge, an abduction, a bunch of sneaky conniving humans, passion, steamy scenes and a happily ever after ending guaranteed.
Meghan is a scaredy-cat, and when Mal’k makes his intentions known the works hard to avoid him. When he steals her into his shuttle during a rain storm her fear turns into something else and they kiss. Meghan is confused and despite being scared she spends time with him. When they take his shuttle to refill the water the scourge attack and Meghan can’t help her feelings intensifying. When the mating bond shows itself Mal’k is ecstatic knowing all along that Meghan is the one for him. Unfortunately there’s a group at their compound that are against the hunters and when they move out they kidnap Meghan intending to trade her to the raiders. Mal’k knows something is wrong and will do everything in his power to get her back.

I love this series. And I love this new book. Something about Mal'k is kind of adorable. He wants to be near Meghan so bad. I like how he is always thinking about the other hunters and their mates in order to get some ideas of how to win her over. But at the same time it is nice that they are in a different settlement so there is a bit of a reprieve from the meddlesome female mates. Even Mal'k comments that it seems the reason there are so many pairings on Earth (not just here, but all over) is that human women love to throw single men at each other until something sticks. I love reading about the groups as well as the pairings, but like I said it's nice to have some room for the couple to grow.
The rest of the story was both interesting and frustrating. I really agree with Meghan's assessment that bugpocalypse or not some people just aren't great. But I am enjoying how the stories seem to be building on each other. And I cannot wait to read the next one from the little hint we get this time.

I loved this book. This is one of my favorite alien series and I'm always super excited for new releases. I love the apocalyptic atmosphere of these books, so there's an element of survival, foraging, and adapting that comes with it. This book felt darker than some of the others because there was a lot more prejudice and distrust of the hunters within this group of human survivors. It was a realistic change that the heroine here started off cowardly and afraid of everything. Meghan was not one of the women willing to go out and brave the bugs to forage. Her character had growth where she got braver until she had to finally suck it up and just do what needed to be done. However my likability of her dropped a lot at pretty much the first test of her loyalty to Mal'k. Considering the toxic atmosphere and her knowledge of certain things, her reaction pissed me off and I had to fight with myself not to dislike her from that point onward. But she henceforth felt too wishy-washy for me. And as for some of those nasty survivors who left, I hope they face some justice. Looking forward to the next book, as always. 5 stars.
Meghan has had a rough time since the alien bugs invaded Earth. She has lost all feelings of safety and was forced to pleasure men to keep her place in the community. When her friend saw an opportunity to escape the gang of raiders who have been keeping them prisoner, they ran. To Meghans horror, she was saved by an alien hunter named Mal'k His foreignness teriified her even though he saved her. She decided to join the human community in the school to get away from the hunter but Mal'k followed her. Meghan knows that he thinks that they are mates but she can't get over her fears.
Mal'k is excited to have found his mate but he still has to convince Meghan. He follwed her to her new community to help out and to get to know her better. Meghan keeps trying to avoid him. Mal'k is tired of letting her get used to him and decides to push closer. He's hoping that repeated close contact will help her get over her fears. Soon he learns that Meghan is frightened by almost everything not just by hunters. He just has to convince her to give him the chance to protect and love her.

Mal'k is an alien warrior created to fight the scourge. He may not be very good with words but his dedication and actions prove his worth.
Maghan has been living in fear since the scourge landed on Earth a year and a half ago. She's scared of everything, but she's joined a new settlement and is hoping life will get better.
When Mal'k scented Meghan he knew she was his but she was terrified of him. He joins her settlement to help the foragers and protect her while working to ease her fears.
Mal'k will protect them not only from the scourge but the raiders who want Meghan and the settler's supplies. He will do anything for his Meghan. She knows the hunters are helping and slowly begins to trust him and realize he is her safe place in the storm.
I have to say I've enjoyed every one of the books in the Xarc'n Warriors series and this one is no exception. Alien dedicated love, steamy passion, bug battles, and rescuing his mate from inside and outside threats, all in one place.
While this book can be read as a stand-alone it so much more rounded out/three-dimensional when the series is read in order. Each book in the series builds on the story/plot of the previous one. Unlike many series this one gets better with each book as the world and characters evolve!
Think I have a new favorite as the characters of Mal’k and Meghan are so well written. Love how he is so patient and sweet while she truly is not a coward but tramatized. Trust and confidence are hard to come by for her, however, she is able to rely on herself and other when she really needs to.
It is also a great story showing how everyone has their own view and agenda. There are ways to work through disagreements peaceably and outsmart those who are only looking out for themselves while preying on others fears.
A really great book and I can't wait or the next book. The hints dropped throughout this book sound like it is going to be even better.

I love this series and the possibility that this could happen and wonder now I would fair. Meghan is saved from the raiders that have abused the females in there group and is now safe with another group that’s has the help of the Xarc’n warriors and one of the warriors Mal’k is showing her a lot of attention and it scares her to death but she is scared of everything. Mal’k is helping move a group of humans closer to there compound and the one called Meghan (little red) is his fated mate but she is scared of him and all of his brethren and the bugs and that’s why he is so patient with her hoping she will come around but when she doesn’t he locks her in his ship forcing her to realise that they are meant to be together. There is action, drama, conflicts, vulnerability, lacking confidence, being a coward and survival and throw in some hot and steamy moments and you get the perfect book. There is so much more to this book that will surprise you and make you desperate for the next book.

Meghan is literally and figuratively frozen by fear into inaction (or running away), often times in detriment to herself, but other times in detriment to the community. While we see her develop friendships and take on large projects, she doesn't see herself as having anything to contribute to the community. Her contributions are necessary, just less obvious. She's surrounded by resource insecurity, fear, and inter-community conflict, leading her to fear violence could destroy their relatively peaceful existence at any moment.
Mal’k walks on eggshells much as Meghan does, but more to dispel rumors about his intentions and to keep the peace than out of fear for himself. But like Meghan, he aims to keep everyone appeased, which doesn't always turn out the way planned.
Mal’k and Meghan's other friends encourage her to open up to them, something that results in her reclaiming her agency as part of the story's climax. She retains her personality, but shows herself she doesn't need to let fear freeze her.
I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable even with the bugpocalypse and violence. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Melissa was great but also added to Meghan's fear and stress. Meghan couldn't imagine being in Melissa's position and having to deal with everything they had to deal with. Meghan had a pretty active fight or flight instinct when she was afraid and she didn't always choose what was best for herself or for her community. Mal'k was a Xarc'n warrior that was helping the humans. He knew that Meghan was his mate but she was afraid of him which meant that he was trying to change her mind and/or help her get over her fear so that they could be together. Mal'k needed to be close to her in order to keep her safe but that was difficult even without Meghan's fear because others weren't always happy that he was around either. There is some drama and angst but it works out well. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

It's Meghan and Mal'k's turn and poor Mal'k has to find a way to desensitize Meghan to the Xarc'n because the lady is afraid of pretty much everything, the hunters included. Which I don't blame her for, by any means, because this world is a bug-strewn, terrifying mess.
But it does make it hard for Mal'k to get close. Not that it stops him. The big guy volunteers to go with the human group to stay near her. He treats her gently and he's always there if she needs him. Unfortunately, not all the humans want to work with the hunters and soon a faction within the human group is making things difficult for Mal'k and the others. (On the plus side, the humans who DO want to work with the hunters go all in and I kind of love that.)
A whole lot of bugs, a fair amount of infighting, a big purple hunk who is determined to make his special someone feel safe, and a lady who might be afraid of everything, but works through her fear so she can be with the alien of her dreams.
Meghan has a lot to be anxious about. It is something that she lives with daily and because she is hesitant she has managed to convince herself that she is a coward. A rather bad experience with another group of survivors has not done her any favours either. While knowing that the big purple warrior will not hurt her somehow her body's flight response is engaged no matter what. She hates violence and really just wants a peaceful life. Mal'k knows that Meghan is his mate and while he does all he can there is little that he can do to prevent his looks, all of the training and conditioning that he has been made to endure. His sole purpose in life was to fight, that was until he saw the girl with the hair of fire. The troublemakers are well aware that Meghan is his weakness and they will use it against him and the other survivors. Will Meghan ever see him as more than just a killing beast? Love these Xarc'n warriors and their mates. I cannot wait for the next one!
Poor Meghan, she knows that Mal'k won't harm her, but she's scared of everything. It doesn't help that while at the compound he got so close to her and woke her up from a nightmare that she screamed at him! Total misunderstanding. She wished that she wasn't a scaredy cat and she doesn't know what he sees in her, but Mal'k doesn't give up. Meghan starts to see beyond his purple skin, fangs and horns to the kind and sweet guy that he is and finds herself falling for him. Is it too late she made a mistake and hurt him, can he forgive her? As the 6th story of this series, I'm still sucked into the story and the characters. I love these warriors and their dedication. I also love that his support helps Meghan find the strength she needs to fight for herself and allow Mal'k to fight for her. Gotta read it.

I dived right into this book and actually really really loved how different the two MCs were! The FL is pretty much nervous/everything with it being the apocalypse, so she is always trembling - but not to the point of being useless. However because of that the ML is super sensitive and trying to be so understanding and not overbearing to the FL. I loved how there was a point where she clearly had the guts though to tell the ML it's not him she's afraid of - she's just afraid of everything. The ML is just soooo sweet to the FL I loved it! I do think because they had such a fun dynamic, the conflict though where the ML is misunderstood wasn't needed though. However regardless I had a lot of fun with them. I do wonder though how they'll all live post-apocalypse though too!

The Xarc’n warriors came to Earth in an attempt to destroy the bugs and save the humans. Mal’k is a warrior who wants to help the survivors move closer to the hunters’ compound, get to know Meghan and let her get to know him. Unfortunately some of the survivors are prejudiced against the hunters and are not trustworthy. Meghan is afraid most of the time and reacts to situations with a flight or freeze reaction. She does not want to be this way and feels like a coward. I really enjoy reading this series. It is an easy, quick, and enjoyable read. This story has mostly likable characters, romance, danger, action and ends with an HEA. It is a great addition to the series. I enjoyed seeing characters from previous books making an appearance.

Mal’k is a Xarc’n hunter which means he was cloned and modified to fight against the bugs that are plaguing Earth. Meghan is afraid of Mal’k because of the propaganda and rumors spread by the government to blame the Xarc’n warriors for the bugs, when in reality, all the Xarc’n wanted to do was help the humans.
Meghan is grateful for the protective Xarc’n warrior, although she must admit that he scares her. Her experiences cause her nightmares. But Mal’k is determined to take care of her. He wants her to feel secure. He wants her to accept what he offers her, safety and a protective, vigilant mate. So the Xarc'n hunter follows her when she leaves to join the humans. He will keep her safe from the bugs because he recognized her as his mate. Will she eventually accept him?
Meghan is basically programmed to be scared of everything- loud sounds, Xarc'n hunters, human raiders - it doesn't matter. She has moved in with the former New Franklin group near the hunter and human compound. Mal'k, a new Xarc'n, offered to help them move locations. It is the perfect excuse to stay close to Meghan. He know she is scared and is doing his best to be patient.
As infighting starts to fracture the group, the idea of safety in numbers becomes more of a liability.
A great read and addition to a moving and entertaining series. I love the amount of hope these people are able to hold on to as they carve out survival in the bugpocalypse. Meghan is the lead character for those who would rather run and hide than charge in guns blazing. She saves the day in her own way.

This is book 6 of the Xarc'n Warriors and although it might be best to read the entire series, Lynnea Lee does a great job filling in the gaps for a new reader. But, you can read the entire series for FREE with your KU subscription, so maybe a weekend binge read is in your future. Meghan suffered through numerous traumas that have made her very jumpy, suspicious, and afraid of the big purple, sharp clawed and teethed Xarc'n warriors who are there to help the humans. Mal’k recognizes Meghan as his mate and will do anything, take any amount of time for her to see that too. But many humans treat Mal'k as a danger and shun him. There is chemistry, steam, action, betrayal, and some twists along the way. Each couple in this series is unique, each book well written, with steam, and action.
