***This novel is standalone, happily ever after romance for some of the characters that you’ve come to know in the other series by the same author. Kari has spent her life as the Texas Knights’ princess, but no one realizes the price that comes with that title. After losing the love of her life to the military, she rushed into the arms of Mr. Wrong. After years of abuse, she finally escapes and comes home to settle in with her family, taking that crown back almost seamlessly.
Kari has a secret, and her family and friends don’t yet realize the true danger in that secret.
Levi had to walk away from the woman he loved because he’d signed his life over to the army. He served his time and then went on to be a police officer just hours away from his hometown of Rojo. The life of a cop is always dangerous, but when he’s targeted along with his partner, Levi’s life changes forever, and he ends up back in Rojo closer to his family and old friends.
Two damaged people who are just trying to survive find each other again in the third book of the Rojo, Texas series. Can they take care of themselves while also trying to care for each other? Sometimes, first loves just aren’t meant to be, but these two stubborn fighters won’t let anything keep them down - or away from each other.
Finally all the Duke siblings have found the ones. I just love Kari and Levi. They are both so strong and perfect for each other. I love how there story played out.
I feel like we've been waiting for this one for a long time. Kari's always been around, always there to help everyone else, but always alone. I really liked the history that Kari had with Levi, hated that things didn't work out for them the first time around, hated even more the situation that Levi found Kari in when her world imploded, but at least she had a friendly face when she needed it.
Like all of Kari's friends and family, I thought she had it together. So when Levi showed us the cracks I worried, but was glad that he was right there to help her. When it all came crumbling down, I was glad that Kari did something about it this time, it allowed her to realize she deserved her own HEA. It was fun to see Kari and Levi finally be in the right space to go after it and boy did they. It was fast forward for them, they deserved it!
Such a great book. I loved the depth of the characters. There wasn't high drama but I was still very much invested. I most definitely enjoy the variety of storylines from Cee Bowerman.
I didn't fall as deeply as I had with the previous one. I just felt like I had been left out of several conversations and was expected to know exactly what was going on. I didn't.
But I did like the fact that they were both managing their particular mental health issues, in a way that was positive - eventually. Anyone who has PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD... it is something that is always there, always needs to be recognized and always needs to be managed. I like that whilst this was a critical part of the story told... it wasn't the whole of it.
One of the things that I love most about this author is that all of her stories are unique and include real life situations. While including these difficult topics, the author is always respectful and sensitive towards the victims/survivors, as well as the topic itself. As much as I love romantic suspense stories, I love reading stories like this one too. I like watching the relationship blossom between a couple as they live their everyday lives, all while they're struggling with real life problems, and finding ways to overcome them. This was a special story that I really enjoyed, and have no doubt that everyone will love it. If you haven't already read this authors other series' (Texas Knights MC, Texas Kings MC, Connor Brothers Construction), I would highly recommend that you do! It's not necessary to read them in order to enjoy this series, but it will give you a better understanding of the characters, the different clubs/groups, family/friends connections, and the dynamics between all of them. They're all absolutely fantastic stories and you certainly won't be disappointed! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
This was great and difficult at the same time. Mental Health issues are not easy to tackle but Cee did a great job. I spent 17 years of my life until recently running a group home for people with mental health issues, prominently schizophrenia but also bi-polar and one OCD. OCD was the most difficult to deal with. One of the main issues around the whole subject is the denial and lack of understanding from family members and this is what happened with Kari. We have a whole generation of people being diagnosed later than they should have been. Levi was awesome and he was also dealing with his own mental health issues but astute enough to recognize there was a problem with Kari. This poor woman, she has suffered so much and now this on top of it. She is a very strong woman and we've know that right from book 1. Aside from all that we have 2 people that have loved each other for years. I'm so glad that they finally found each other again. As the author promised there were many lol moments but also sad moments. How Marla came to be a part of their family was tragic.
I found Cee Bowerman when I was going thru a very bad spot in my life. I love her style of writing and her characters. This story I have been waiting for I hoped Kari would get her happy ever after and she did with a bang. In all the books in this story line you see the friends and family share their lives just like normal MS Bowerman characters are just like the people we know and talk to everday. Now my take on Kari and Levi what a couple they find a love that knows no bounds and boy does it take slot to get there. This book makes you cry for them and laugh with them but we can't forget another important aspect to this couple that is Shadow Levi's support dog he is amazing. This book is just one of the best I have read that deals with mental issues I loved how accepting this author has characters with different issues and that help is there.
This one is awesome, it literally unable to put it down.
Kari and Levi's story starts when they were 18 but different choices has them taking different paths. Fast forward 10 whole years and some questionable choices. The duo become unknown neighbours.
Levi has avoided Kari Duke at all costs since the night he found her hand dead on the steps of her former home, working at his family gym Levi is getting by just, but when he finally finds he can't stay away from his former sweetheart, he finds out that she needs him more than ever.
Kari regretted jot following Levi, but she had a family obligation, and that obligation led her to her life job, owner and carer to battered woman wanting to escape abuses partners.
Kari and Levi have demons that haunt them, but they need to band together for the next chapter in their journey.
Kari & Levi is the fourth book in the Rojo, TX series by Cee Bowerman and tells Kari and Levi’s story as they get a second chance at love.
I have really liked Kari since she was introduced in the first Texas Knights MC book and I’ve always been curious about her story while seeing her pop up in the other books and I was excited to read this book and see her get her HEA after everything she’d been through. I really enjoyed the story and it touched some subjects which are close to my heart but I thought they were dealt with really well. I loved how Kari and Levi’s story had weaved together over time and I was happy with the outcome of this book.
Overall, this was a really good read with a story that had you laughing one minute and crying the next but it was all worth it in the end. I would recommend giving it a read.
Just wow. I hate that both Levi and Kari experienced different types of PTSD and depression, but it also shows how Levi understood Kari's issues better than others because of what he was going through and plus him already seeing a therapist and taking medication. I was sad to see what it finally took for Kari to get her own therapy and medication for herself. Yay for them getting married and also their little surprise in getting Marla, but sad for Hannah and the abuse she suffered and went back to her husband to endure worse. Also yay for them getting pregnant and having their baby boy. I really love how these families always have each others backs and are willing to watch each others children when they need a break. Happy reading.
Cee knocked this one out of the park. She didn’t gloss over the struggles both Kari and Levi had to face in order to grab onto their HEA. The story felt raw and real. It also felt triumphant. Somehow, she worked humor in between all the heavy parts of the story.
This storyline was woven into the timeline of other books that take place in this world, and if you have read the other books, you’ll know about all the details that aren’t in this book. The author did a good job of giving enough detail to provide context for this story, without spoiling the other books in the series.
This was well worth the wait. I was wondering when Kari would finally get her happily ever after. Levi and Kari were a perfectly imperfect couple and I loved them together. I am never disappointed in Cee Bowerman's books. This story touches on domestic violence, PTSD, and mental illness. I most definitely will recommend this book. It can be read as a standalone, but it is better to read all the books in the order they were written because of all the characters.
Absolutely loved this book. So relatable and so powerful. I really couldn’t fault this story having been through something similar
This books has some major triggers but the light mixed with the dark. The support of family and external support (councillors/psychologists) is why this book is so powerful. There are a couple of editorial errors. However this story is so strong. The couple of editorials don’t even register.
Love love love this. Love all all of this authors books but I think this is my favourite
I chose this rating because this is actually a really great book. I really enjoyed most all of the characters. This was a book of understanding, protection, evaluating yourself and your life, and doing what's best for you. I really enjoyed I really enjoyed Levi and Kari story. I think the author did an amazing job with putting these two characters together. They both had a lot going on in their life and with their mental health. I really enjoy this book. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.
We met Kari in Cee's very first book, and I've been dying to get my hands on her story ever since. That is a lot of time to build up expectations! As usual, Cee not only met, but exceeded my expectations. This is a book with all the feels, along with Cee's trademark humor. I was also happy to see Adam happy and doing so well. I hope he gets a story of his own when Cee starts working on the next generation.
Another winner for Cee Bowerman! I have never before found a heroine that I identified with more in my life. Just seeing Kari & Luke get their lives together and finally be together was so heartwarming. Every time I read a new book it is my favorite but I have waited so long for Kari to find her HEA that I feel this is my favorite. Again, it truly is all about family. Thank you for sharing your stories. I wanna live in Rojo!
I love Rojo, Texas. I wish I could actually go and live there with all my friends. But Kari? She has a special place in my heart. It was so hard to see her struggle. And I always knew that there had to be more behind her brave front that she put on. I’m so happy that she’s back with her one - her person - and that they were both able to battle their demons. If anyone deserves that fairy tale ending, Levi and Kari are it. ❤️
Love it! Another great story to add to the Rojo family! Seriously torn between my favorite couple...Sandy and Tink are definitely at the top. Her trick with the kids. GENIUS. The humor and tears were on point. I'm glad she did such a great job covering a pretty difficult topic for so many. Brought me to tears. And yes, I did finish this book at a concert while doing auntie duties.
This is the story of Kari and Levi. Their story is an emotional one as they both learn to deal with ptsd, anxiety and depression related to events from their pasts as well as learn how to cope in their every day life. Mrs Bowerman also includes the LOVE and laughter that you find in these wonderful families in Rojo TX. You really should go to the authors reading list and read her books in order. You won't regret it!
Previous gave glimpses of Kari having some possible abuse but nothing like what happened to her though. Never had an idea Levi had all the feelings he's dealing with either. This book has a very sensitive subject matter...actually a couple of them. The scenes are so well written you feel like you're there with them. Bowerman never fails to deliver awesome characters. Hooray for Kari and Levi.
I am so glad to read Levi and Maria journey ❤ it's made me cry, made me laugh and love the characters I've learned about through the other series a.little.but more. I can not wait to see what happens next in the rojo series . Thanks cee for another amazing heartfelt book. The passion and emotion you write with shows on every page. Thanks again for another amazing read I could not put down start to finish x
I loved this book. Kari and Levi both had issues from their past and was able to move forward and love each other while still recognizing they needed help through therapy and medication. So often it seems authors will use “love” to fix issues! Thankfully this author knocked it out of the park! She was able to take characters and help them while keeping the story sweet and not terribly heavy!
Kari & Levi is book 4 in the Rojo, TX series written by the talented author Cee Bowerman. It can be read as a standalone, but it is better to read all the books in the order. I absolutely could NOT put this down. It captivated me from page one and it was so much more than a romance story. I adored kari and Levi and I want to live in Rojo , Texas. This is a story of lots of emotions, friendship, faith, hope, love, trust, and redemption. Thanks Cee, for another amazing read!!!
Thank you Cee Bowerman for handling PTSD, different types of mental issues and trauma with your usual grace and style. I smiled, cried, laughed. I really wish I lived in Rojo and got to hang out with all the people you write about. You make them that real... that takes talent. Thank you for sharing these wonderful people from your awesome imagination!
Do you believe in second chances? Happily ever afters? Fairy tail endings with really big strapping men? Then this is the book for you. It does have triggers if you're sensitive about domestic violence relationships, or toxic environments. But it was handled really well. I have read some books that are triggering, for me this is Not was one of them. Thanks Cee luv your guts!
I absolutely loved Kari and Levi! They are the perfect couple. They both have struggles and both have the strength to get through the hard times either alone or together, they learn their own limitations and communicate that. So good seeing previous characters and everyone coming together. 100% must read!
This story is so incredible and pulls at all my heart strings. Gee is an amazing writer that provides glimpses into the lives of people who struggle and triumph. I know its fiction but highlights issues many people deal with every day and show how they can overcome and have their HEA. Excellent read.
I was thrilled to get this book. I have been waiting to read Kari’s story. I wanted her to find happiness. Well, this book exceeded all my expectations. It is a thought provoking story with an HEA. It is well written and will pull you into the story till you have to just sit down and read. Highly recommend.
This is a good story but it's hard to read because of the domestic violence and PTSD. It really stresses how important it is to talk to a professional if you have experienced these. Once these illnesses have been faced there is an awesome happily ever after.
If you haven't experienced domestic violence or PTSD
