It was way past time for a new Pelican Cove book & this one did not disappoint. Memories came rushing back as each familiar character appeared. Good plot & the new characters are well developed & interesting. Some to love some not so much. You could easily read this as a stand alone but for me a lot of the appeal in this series is the past relationship with the story & characters. If this is your first in the series I bet you’ll want to grab #1 next.

Fall is a busy time in Pelican Cove with a fall festival, fundraising for the equine center…and murder. Jenny is busy whipping up delicious sounding food at the cafe and trying to find the killer. Set in a beach town, this was a fun read with charming characters. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.

Scandalous! I really liked the person who died in this story. It’s just too bad and especially the manner of the killing. I do hate when certain people are targeted by the author and sometimes I hope that it’s just a ruse and I’ll find out toward the end that the person wasn’t actually killed and that they’re fine and it was all just a setup in order to help catch the killer.

And poor Adam taking a couple of kids under his wing and losing one. And all Jenny was doing was accusing the kid of theft and murder. And speaking of relationships, Stars! I doubt there will be another chance for a man who runs around naked in public. Lol. Maybe it’s time to let go.

Molly made a tough decision and so did Betty Sue and Barb. Then there’s Heather and her new beau - awkward. I wonder if Heather will carry on the Morse name by having a baby or if it’ll die with her.

I always find it funny when Jenny becomes so frustrated when she can’t solve a crime. She feels she wants to give up and it makes me laugh because the person was killed barely two days prior. I guess she expects to help capture the killer in only half a week’s time. Only in book world…

Well this was the last book in this series and I wish the final book would have had more grit and it’d been longer with all of my questions answered.

My next read is by JB Lynn and it stars a hit woman with a special gift and I’m not talking all the drama she brings to the table. No, I’m talking about her special relationship with animals. Awesome! Magic! The book is The 39th in Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman and it’s called “The Hitwoman and the Sitting Duck”. It’s a great series, so I suggest you start it and although the books can be read as standalones, everything makes a lot more sense if you begin with Number ONE.

Jenny is back, serving up amazing sounding dishes at the Boardwalk Café as the town decorates for fall with pumpkins and decorations for the Fall Festival. A nearby mansion, Cliffside, has been renovated, and the Lord and Lady who own it are visiting Pelican Cove. Jenny meets them, and is actually hired to provide food for Lady Moria's fiftieth birthday. Jason is finally coming home after working for months in France. Heather and Billy, yes he's Jenny's ex, are becoming quite the couple. Everything seems to be humming along until Adam shows up at the café to tell them Lady Moria fell to her death.

Anyone who has read this series knows that Jenny can't help but investigate, and figure out what really happened. And there's always more mysteries to solve along the way! From a suspicious maid, a spoiled nephew planning his inheritance, to odds and ends of guests and servants at Cliffside, to a town crisis, the action never stops. What a charming town and wonderful story. It has great characters, descriptive scenery, and foods that sound so delicious that they make your mouth water! I was thrilled to be back with these delightful book friends. A new favorite!

Fairly Good

This series is fairly good, otherwise I wouldn’t have read thru 14 of them. A couple of thoughts though. No one in real life has ever used the word noshed unless they were making fun of someone or something. Never. Second is that Heather seriously needs to grow up or she’s going to be a 60 year old that acts like a toddler part of the time and a thirteen year old on steroids the rest of the time.

Entertaining.

I enjoyed this fourteenth book in the Pelican Cove Cozy Mystery series.

I found myself getting annoyed at our intrepid protagonist, as she can be somewhat judgmental at times, and ready to think the worst of certain people.

However, I still enjoyed the story, dad as it was. I hope book fifteen isn't going to take too long...

Why are the Magnolias all turning nasty?

Same cast of characters, same breakfast and lunch menus at the Boardwalk Cafe, another murder, but why are the Magnolias all turning nasty? They’re all sniping at each other and fellow neighbors. But Jenny is totally a ting out if character, accusing people out of the blue and taking over for the police. She’s become downright nasty!

Leena gives us another good read!

The plot has some twists and turns with a lot of potential killers but in the end there is continuity to the story. An enjoyable book and looking forward to the next one, number 15 in the series. Thanks!

Been a while, but the backgrounds of each character soon came back to me. Another sort of Muder She Wrote type story which is an ideal escapism read, however the continuous mention of food is not good if you are reading in bed with a rumbling stomach!!

Biscuits and Butlers is as good as the rest!

Makes you want to keep reading until your done! I can't wait for the next one to read!

I love this writer, just goes to show you that a good book doesn't need to be R rated to be interesting and romantic!

Pelican Cove number 14

A cozy read describing Jenny's life on the island. In this novel, a visiting noble dies. Jenny's former fiance, Police Chief Adam, asks for her help because he can't investigate a possible accident.

Always a fun read with mystery and menus

Have never tried to duplicate one of the recipes. The descriptions make them sound delish. Have always enjoyed the light mystery read.

Story was entertaining, but the writing is terribly jumpy and fragmented. The characters are more like caricatures.
