Tallean Mercenaries #7

A Future for Zharor

Rate this book

CHRISSY

The alien captain rescuing me from the Dominion breeding facility is nothing like the other Tallean males I’ve met. He’s wild, untamed, and hot as sin. The fierce warrior sets my body on fire. He stalks right up to me and tells me I’m his. And bonus—he knows my sister!

Eager to celebrate my newfound freedom, I jump on tall, dark, and dangerous for a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am the first chance I get. He is an alien and can’t knock me up. It’s a win-win all around. What could possibly go wrong?

ZHAROR

She’s supposed to be just a rescue mission. But one look at Chrissy and the fiery challenge in her eyes, and I know she’s MINE. I can’t believe my luck when she jumps under my covers and stays there for the rest of the trip.

But my luck ends there. Chrissy refuses to see me once we return to Vosthea, and I’m devastated. I give her time, knowing she’s been through an ordeal. When I get news that she’s pregnant, all bets are off. She is mine, and so it that baby, and nothing can stop me from claiming them both.

This story is a complete romance and can be read as a standalone or as part of a series. HEA guaranteed!

Three Stars: Babies, Drama, and Two Chrissys Walk Into a Book...

Lynnea Lee’s Zharor had a lot of potential—it’s got aliens, romance, and the promise of strong character dynamics. And while I usually love her books, this one had me raising an eyebrow (or two) at the drama and baby fever that seemed to take over.

Let’s talk about Chrissy. She’s introduced as a fiery, independent, take-no-crap kind of woman. I was cheering her on! But then...enter Rumor Drama™. Instead of confronting Zharor like the powerhouse she’s supposed to be, she lets hearsay tear them apart. Really, Chrissy? You’re ready to take on the galaxy but not a misunderstanding? The strong, bold Chrissy from the beginning felt like she stepped into a black hole halfway through the book, leaving us with a totally different version of her: insecure, overthinking, and suddenly on a baby obsession train I didn’t sign up for.

When Zharor bared his soul, clearly stating how much he wanted her (cue swooning alien fans everywhere), Chrissy immediately assumed it was because of her "circumstance." Girl, listen to the six-pack space warrior in front of you! It’s like she flipped through How to Misunderstand Your Alien Mate and highlighted all the worst chapters.

The end redeemed her somewhat, bringing back the fiery Chrissy we were introduced to, but it was jarring—like there were two different characters instead of one cohesive heroine.

Overall, Zharor wasn’t bad—it’s still got that classic Lynnea Lee charm. But between the avoidable drama and a focus on babies that felt less cute and more cloying, this one wasn’t my favorite. If you’re into those tropes, you’ll probably enjoy it more than I did. For me, though, I’ll stick to Lynnea’s other books where the heroines keep their fire and their common sense.

👍👍

Sarah finally gets her sister, Chrissy, back from the awful breeding facility and her rescuer turns out to be her mate! This book was a great addition to the series. Two thumbs up.

So good. Not so nice start but this just gets better as you immerse yourself into these wonderful characters. Zharor rescues Chrissy, from a breeding facility by an alien faction. A promise to her sister and his best friends mate. The two are full on in part due to the enhancing drugs in her system but a bond forms between them. They have a few hiccups and a brief kidnapping, but all's well ended well and a family unit is formed. I loved these two and now need to read more of these amazing Tallean Mercenaries. :)

This is book 7 in the series. I have not read the previous stories but was able to follow this one pretty well with the background information the author provided in the beginning and throughout the story.

Chrissy, the h, was feisty. I loved the way she talked herself into having a relationship with Zharor after just meeting him. In her defense, she was hopped up on fertility drugs and the guy was kinda irresistible. Unfortunately, she was also a bit immature. She allowed her insecurities to drive her away from Zharor. She wanted to protect her heart and was too ready to accept the stories other women spoke about him. She chose to believe the worst of him even though he had never given her a reason to believe any of it. The angst Chrissy went through was completely generated in her head. Her distrust of Zharor's good intentions and her ready acceptance of gossip about him demonstrated a lack of maturity on her part. She was so focused on protecting her own heart that she paid no attention to what she was doing to his. She took at face value he was a player and never took the time to find out if it was true.

Fortunately, Zharor wasn't one to take no for an answer, forever. Zharor was growly and very possessive once he met Chrissy. His mating instinct kicked in and that was it for him. Knowing that being around him stressed her out, he chose to give her space. In his words: "He would love her from afar. And slowly die from it." Oh my goodness, does your heart just not break at those words? She was killing him slowly and didn't even understand what she was doing. Unrequited love always makes me sad. But mostly, I felt mad at Chrissy’s narcissistic behavior.

Well, the boy was able to wear her down eventually so they could get to that HEA. One final favorite quote: "Now that she understood gift-giving was Zharor’s love language, it was much easier to accept the presents." How can you not love a guy who’s love language is gift giving? Of course, his other languages were just as much fun to read about.

Fun story. It might be a good idea to read the previous stories in the series to get the full flavor of the universe the author built around this story. But it is not mandatory to be able to follow along.

A rescue, a denied mate bond and a baby ...

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping / abduction, attempted murder, human trafficking, forced “breeding”, etc.

This is the seventh story in the Tallean Mercenaries series. Due to reoccurring and connected characters, as well as an overall storyline arc, I highly recommend these be read in series order.

There are several grammatical issues, but I have been looking forward to Chrissy’s story for so long, that I decided not to lower the rating. Plus the story universe / world building keeps expanding so that every additional story seems more vibrant.

Here is a little bit about how the story begins:

Chrissy is the sister of Sarah (mate of Kean and covered in a previous story). They were abducted from earth together and was together until Chrissy was sold. Sarah and her mate have been looking for her and finally have a location ... she was sold to a breeding farm.

Zharor is Kean’s second in hand. He has been fascinated with Chrissy since he seen a fuzzy picture of her. He volunteers to accompany the Second Chance human crew in the rescue mission of the breeding farm, but Zharor’s specific task is to bring back Chrissy so she can be reunited with her sister.

Chrissy has been given massive amounts of fertility drugs by the Dominion scientists so she can give birth to a new human that will be enslaved. She tries to fight when they are ready to artificially inseminate her, but she is strapped down. Then the ship shakes. At first Chrissy thinks it is an earthquake, but quickly remembers that they are in space, not on solid ground.

The Tallean and human warriors arrive at the farm and free the females, some of which are pregnant, or in the process of being inseminated again. When Zharor and Chrissy in person, there attraction is mutual. She is pumped full of hormones, and since Talleans cannot impregnate human females ... or so she thought

Zharor is on a mission to save his boss’s mates twin sister, sold by her last owner, they find her at a breeding facility. When Trenton states that Chrissy is to go with him Zharor nearly gives into bloodlust, he doesn’t know why but this female bring out all his possessive and protective instincts. They compromise and once Sarah tells Chrissy Zharor is safe and taken her there she switches ship. Chrissy though has been pumped full of fertility and hormone drugs to make her fertile and ready to party as it were. She was told by trentons medic that humans and Talleans can’t breed so sees fit to itch her scratch with Zharor and they both love it. Zharor is completely enamoured with her and plans to ask her to move in with him. When they land, at first Chrissy wants to keep her distance but when the girls she works with at the compound tell her of Zharor’s more amorous ways she outright tells him she enjoyed it but that’s all it was. When she finds out she’s pregnant a big birdie tell Zharor and he bursts into the lab and runs off with her. Kean has to send him away for fear of him attacking anyone who goes near Chrissy, when he comes back to the compound Chrissy is about ready to pop, they finally sort things out and are happy. Unfortunately when they along with Mia and Arus are on the way to the secret lab, stalkers attack and while Zharor and Arus are busy fighting them with their guards, the driver of the vehicle kidnaps the terrified women. Smart thinking and the use of a shovel see the driver incapacitated, they are in the middle of the Vosthea forest but know their males are coming for them. Chrissy suddenly goes into labour while they are waiting and the enemy who ordered them kidnapped finds them and plans on selling their unborn babies. Zharor and Arus save the day and soon Chrissy and Zharor have baby Zara in their arms.

This is a fated mates story with a sweet storyline, wonderful characters and a happily ever after ending.

I enjoyed listening to this book. This book picks up right where A Captive for Kean leaves off. Chrissy is pretty hesitant with everything aside from what is known to her after being held in a breeding facility but can't deny the immediate attraction to Zharor.

This book starts off with high heat fairly quickly and the chemistry between Chrissy and Zharor is magnetic.

One of the things that frustrates me the most with many alien warrior romances is how some of the women expect the aliens to act like human men despite being in a completely different culture, on a completely different planet, after weeks or months. I can't help but want to yell at them. Yes, it's a completely new and overwhelming situation, and yes many of the women have been through crazy and disgusting ordeals but COME ON! These badass and resilient women fighting to survive, who spend time observing and learning about the aliens who surround them as much as they are able, would not at that point believe an alien warrior would operate like a human man. **Gets off soap box**

That said there wasn't a whole lot of that in this book, but there was some. I was appeased mostly because home girl Chrissy saw sense pretty quickly AND recognised how wrong it was of her to assume things about her mate, apologised, and tried to fix it. THIS. This is the first book I've read with this narrative in which a female in this situation has been written to be truly and genuinely remorseful of her actions, and causing Zharor significant pain. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

We learn more about hybrid pregnancies and see some pregnant ladies kick ass (figuratively). This book gets fairly action packed toward the end and is fairly reminiscent of Sarah's ordeal in a Captive for Kean. It's ends with a very sweet HEA.

It include: fated mates, rejected mates, twins 👯, growly alien mates, touch her and ☠️, all the spice 🔥 🌶️

This book took me by surprise and took me on a wild ride that didn’t stop till the very end and I hope to read the books before this because it’s that good. Chrissy and her sister Sarah where kidnapped from earth and sold to Gadrek as a pair of human twins and parade them around as trophies but behind closed doors he was evil and beat them until he sold Chrissy off and when she passed through many hands until she ended up at a breeding facility where they where given fertility drugs and will be impregnated but there facility is attacked and she and the others saved by the Second Chance crew that are human men but behind them is a crew of Tallean warriors but one stands out the most because he is gorgeous and strong and his body is amazing and than dirty thoughts enter her mind about him and then he growls and looks straight at her with eyes a blaze then she remembers there keen sense of smell and she is embarrassed. But he comes to her and tells her that her sister Sarah sent him to get her and bring her home. After this was verified by specking to her sister she willing goes with him but with all the drugs in her system she welcomes Zharor to her bed and they spend the next few days together and she’s been told they cannot have children together so she doesn’t hold back. When they arrive she pushes him away and soon learns she is in fact pregnant. How will everything turn out between them when evil is closing in and is trying to keep them apart and take his mate and child away forever. I don’t want to spoil it any further then I already have so just get this book you won’t be disappointed at all.

Chrissy had been sold as a slave and now she is part of an alien breeding program. Just before they could impregnate her, the lab is raided by humans and Talleans.Thrilled to be saved, she is surprised when one of the Talleans recognizes her. Zharor was sent by her sister to rescue her. After contacting her sister, Chrissy is ready to accompany Zharor to where her sister lives. The trip is very passionate since Chrissy had been filled with lots of fertility drugs. She just can't resist sexy Zharor especially after he clams that they are mated. Chrissy doesn't really believe him and breaks things off when she gets to her sister's. Listening to gossip about Zharor makes her believe that he is a player and that is not the man she wants.

Zharor was happy to go on the mission to rescue his boss's mates sister. The first time he saw a picture of her he was drawn to her. Now that he has seen her in person, he is certain they are meant to be mated. The trip returning Chrissy to her sister turns into a big lovefest and Zharor is sure they are bonded. He is hurt and confused when Chrissy pushes him away. He decides to give her time to recover from her ordeal. Soon he learns that their time on board the ship together had unexpected consequences. Tallean and Humans had never had a productive mating until now. Zharor now has to convince Chrissy that she and her child belong with him.

This was a fantastic addition to the Tallean Mercenaries series! I'm really loving the time Ms. Lee is spending exploring the characters on Vosthea. It's a vibrant and seedy little planet packed with great personalities and these books bring a refreshed feel at a time when many series start feeling same-y.

This story starts right in the action with a strong hook and sweeps you along in its wake. It is closely linked to events at the end of the previous book, Kean's story, but it is not strictly necessary to have read that one to enjoy this. Zharor and Chrissy are great characters who compliment each other well. Chrissy is bolder than many of the other female leads and Zharor takes turns being brashly confident and dotingly sweet. This is a male who has found his person and is committed to her happiness!

I also love that Chrissy womans up and addresses one of the major conflicts head on. Once again, this is an author who manages to avoid writing in those dreaded tropes that leave you wanting to smack the main characters upside the head. I love that about her stories! If you've enjoyed Lynnea Lee before, or if you haven't and just want to jump right in with her latest works, give this one a try. It was definitely worth a read.

Totally Awesome! Couldn’t put it down!!

This is the best book I have read lately. It grabs you on the first page and never lets go!! If Alien romance is your thing you will love this!

Chrissy and her sister Sarah are abducted by aliens and sold. The only good thing was they were kept together, until Chrissy got a little too rebellious. Then she was sold to the Domonion as a breeder. She is taken to their laboratory in space and prepare. Just as she was ready, all of the women are rescued by an organization called The Second Chance. It is run by humans and Talleans to save people from evil. One Tallean, Zharor, stands out and he approaches Chrissy saying he is taking her to her sister. She is shocked but thrilled to be reunited with her. During the trip back she and Zharor get very close. They are really into each other, until Chrissy listens to office gossip about what a player he is. Things go down hill from there.

There are a lot of twists and turns and confusion about the two different cultures. And what an ending!!

Sarah and Kean were book one. This story is about her sister Chrissy after they were separated. Once they found out she was at a breeding farm, Kean sent Zharor, his second, with a team to rescue the women. Zharor had seen a picture of Chrissy and longed to find her and when he did, she turned out to be his mate. Chrissy had been pumped full of reproduction stimulants and when Zharor rescued her, they had fun and she became pregnant. So much happened after that with kidnapping, monsters in the forests and more. The characters were well developed and determined. Great backstories helped pull it all together. Surprises and twists, along with the human things that were added to their culture like incubators, kept the story rolling. Loved the ending of the two sisters happily getting married. Can not wait to read more by this author. Well done.

Kean's second in command is up and Zharor has his work cut out for him. Mostly because Chrissy was in a bad place (both literally and mentally) after being sold to a Dominion breeding facility and she doesn't quite trust that this thing she found with Zharor after being rescued is real.

So she fights it. She pushes him away and circumstances has him staying away for longer than maybe either of them expected. Which is unfortunate since she is MOST DEFINTELY pregnant with his baby. But she has to work her head around what she feels AND trust that when he says she's it for him, he means it. Which he does.

A rescue mission, an unexpected pregnancy, a sisterly reunion, a male who knows his person nearly the moment he lays eyes on her, and the lady who has to trust that the male she craves above all others is really hers. GOOD STUFF!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Zharor is an alien who has fallen for Chrissy. Sassy, independent, strong willed, she isn't about to give in to something that may or may not be in her best interests. All Zharor wants it to settle with Chrissy and the baby she's carrying. Without his mate, he will just fade away and die. Sadly for Zharor it isn't until near the end of her pregnancy that Chrissy decides she has done the wrong thing by him before she relents and they can start building their relationship. But as usual, in the aline world our females find themselves in, things don't always work ut and just as Chrissy is abut to go into labor she is kidnapped. What will happen to Chrissy, her sister, her baby and Zharor.
A highly delightful read, I recommend any book with Lynnea Lee's name on the cover. You are guaranteed an exceptional read

This is a part of a fabulous SFR series, specifically about Zharor & Chrissy. I was very excited for this book because I loved all of the characters introduced previously in this series, especially Zharor. He has a wild fierceness and deep loyalty exhibited in previous books and I wanted him to get his HEA.

Having Chrissy as the strong, independent human interest was a great way to keep him on his toes. But, also give her what she didn’t know she needed and was afraid to want.

This story jumps right into the action. I am sure it would read well as a stand-alone, but is so much better as part of the series. This is definitely a favorite book and author for me and I highly recommend this book & entire series.

Chrissy had been kidnapped from Earth along with her sister Sarah. They had been separated and Chrissy was sold to a Dominion breeding factory. Just as the scientists were ready to implant the women, the building began to shake. Chrissy and the other women are being rescued by a group of human mercenaries and Talleans. One of the Talleans is Zharor, who was sent by his boss, Kean. Kean wanted Zharor to bring back his mate’s sister, Chrissy and information about the other females. Once Zharor saw her, he’d had one and only one mission: Chrissy. Chrissy is attracted to Zharor but she is not sure she is interested in a relationship with him.
This is another great addition to her Tallean series. It has action, an intriguing storyline, romance, and strong characters.

Zharor is invested in Chrissy from a picture. Chrissy thinks she is ok with a short term hook up and thinks that Zharor is on board. Zharor is not exactly on the same page. This is not an insta love story and the work up towards their truly getting together held my attention. I liked the kindness that Zharor showed Chrissy. I also liked how Chrissy thought about all the ramifications of their mating. She did not just jump in but thought about - Is he good for me? Is he really a player? - thoughts you have about a guy -especially the guy. Their way is not easy but the story of the coming together is captivating. I like love stories with HEA's. I recommend this read.

Not for me

H: Zharor (alien)
h; Chrissy (human, kidnapped, human slave-making factory for breeding)
So this is the 1st book I read from this series. Chrissy has a twin sister Sara (book 6) and they got Zharor to try to save the humans from breeding. He sees her and instantly they both feel a connection they can't describe. Now Chrissy has been pumped with the fertility shots in an attempt to get pregnant (that's what they do in the breeding factory) so she decides to sleep with Zharor and get pregnant by him. Then she decides to reject him, not for a few days but her mths. Like she was slowly killing him and she didn't care. I stop reading this book at 52% (chapter 13 pg120 of 226)

I can say that the story is written so you can jump in without having read all the rest of the series. But after reading one you will want to go back and read them all.

I adored how much story we got in this one. I thought I was nearing the end based on the story arc and was floored to find I was only halfway. While we know Zharor and Chrissy end up "together" when he rescues her from the blurb, I love that we got to see it all happen at the beginning of the story.

A story with relationship drama, danger and babies. An adventure with a happy ever after.

Total soft spot now for Zharor. He is so full of life and has made no effort to hide who or what he was in the past and then he feels and falls for Chrissy knowing she is his mate. From that moment he is a goner and he regardless of how he feels the fact that he honours her wishes even if it hurts him is so lovely. You really do feel for him and you want to tell Chrissy not to believe everything she hears. To be fair to her she has been through a lot but I was so cross that she took the words of others she barely knew rather than even speak with Zharor who she has spent over a week in close, VERY close proximity to. Bad Chrissy, bad!

He has been falling for her just from a picture but when he sees her in person, he is a goner. Chrissy wants him too but doesn't think permanent at first. Gossip breaks them up temporarily and then big surprise, she's pregnant. It's an interesting look into the unknown of human/Tallean pregnancy and birthing. Chrissy proves she's not just eye candy as she fights for her daughter while Zharor is looking for her when she and Mia are kidnapped. I loved the double wedding the sisters had.

Great storyline. Action packed from beginning to the sweet HEA ending. Steamy romance.
Loved how Zharor persuaded Chrissy that they were true mate. That he was just saying it because of the situation that she found herself in.
Chrissy is very feisty, and independent. Determined to go it herself. She doesn't need a man ( alien) in her life.
Zharor is very determined also. Wanting only Chrissy. Protective even when it's not wanted.
Loved that Sarah ( her sister) and her mate Kean played a role in everything.
Loved the twists and intrigue.

Chrissy and Zharor's Story . . .

The alien Captain Zharor, a Tallean, rescued Chrissy from the Dominion breeding facility. Still under the influence of the breeding drugs, Chrissy is eager to have some fun with Zharor. She figures she can’t get pregnant so it’s a good opportunity for her.

For Zharor, he knows right away that she is not merely a rescue mission to him. She belongs with him. She doesn’t want to see him anymore once they return to Vosthea. But when he hears that she is pregnant, and knows it is his baby, he will track her down and claim them as his. Can he find and rescue them so they can begin their lives together?

Chrissy and her sister are abducted and then separated. Chrissy is sold to the Dominion breeding factory. Right before the women are implanted there is a large blast and the Tallean mercenaries are there to save the human women. Zharor is one of the mercenaries that has been sent by Kean, who wants his mates sister Chrissy saved. Chrissy and Zharor are very attracted to each other. This story is just as wonderful as the others in this series. There is plenty of action, and great chemistry. There are some misunderstanding but Zharor is determined to win the love of Chrissy. Love the HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Chrissy has had a turbulent past, abducted from Earth, sold as a slave, then sold to be a breeder. When she is freed, she gets another change, and a chance to reunite with her sister. Zharor is a Tallean mercenary, tasked by Chrissy’s sister to help free human woman from the breeding program, and bring Chrissy to the planet her sister now resides on.
From the instant Zharor and Chrissy meet, they are attracted to each other. Their time together initially goes really well, but due communication issues and rumors, things get rough. Lots of twists and turns, but ultimately they get their HEA.

When Zharor was sent to rescue Sara's sister Chrissy from a Dominion breeding center, he never expected to be rescuing his mate.

It only took one look and he was lost, but Chrissy had been bought and sold several times since she had last seen her sister, and had no wish to end up with her another Talleaneans make bossing her around. She only wanted to scratch an itch and go on with her life. Can Zharor convince her that she is his mate? Can they keep the Dominion from kidnapping the sisters again? Babies, attacks, spies and kidnappers, there's lots going on, as usual in this series, all with a happy ending.

Chrissy is eager to have some fun with Zharor, but begins to also develop emotional attachment. Once she hears of his previous romantic history, she breaks off the relationship without explanation to avoid any future hurt.

The Tallean group Chrissy and her sister live with are an interesting group. They are drug lords, but are also one of the more moral groups in the universe. Their actions may be indirectly harmful to individuals, but justify this with the fact that all parties involved are there by choice. They are community-based and are against any sort of slavery and oppression.

Chrissy is someone who enjoys being fun and outgoing - including bejeweled swishy gowns!

LOVE THESE CHARACTERS
This is a great story. Action, danger and HOT romance! An alpha that never thought he would find a mate and a woman with an independent streak a mile wide. Chrissy has been rescued from a Dominion breeding facility. As soon as she sees Zharor she is overwhelmed. Zharor has never felt possessive over any female and doesn't know why this one sparks such intense feelings. It takes hormones and a mate bond to make a baby...oops. Misunderstandings drive them apart. Find out if HEA is even possible for these two....

Zharor and Chrissy’s story is another fantastic installment of this series. Headstrong Chrissy and fierce Zharor are a mated pair only Chrissy is not so sure that it could be true. A couple of twists thrown into the storyline add depth to an already packed novel full of details revealed over time about our main characters and hot passion. Lee continues to amaze me with each new story. They are page turners! I cannot wait for whatever and whoever come next.
