I was gifted this book because I am still working on my self-esteem issues and I also love Shrek (Shrek is love, Shrek is life). Honestly I thought this was just going to be a joke, but it actually has really solid life advice and goes into detail about each. Topics include Setting Boundaries, Loving all your Layers, Loving your inner layers, and Choosing your own Quests, and more!

Definitely worth the read and buying as a gift for someone (or your own self!)

Shrek is also self-love, Shrek is life!

"How to Be More Shrek" is an absolute gem that seamlessly combines humor, self-help, and the timeless wisdom of the beloved ogre himself. From the very first page, I found myself captivated by the unique approach to personal development that the author brings to the table.

The book takes the reader on a journey through the whimsical world of Shrek, using the character's iconic traits and quirks as a guide to embracing one's individuality and living life authentically. The clever integration of Shrek's adventures into practical life lessons is both entertaining and surprisingly insightful.

What sets this book apart is its ability to deliver profound messages in a lighthearted and humorous manner. The witty writing style keeps the reader engaged, making it easy to absorb the valuable lessons hidden beneath the layers of ogre-sized humor. Each chapter is a delightful exploration into self-discovery, encouraging readers to embrace their inner Shrek and face life's challenges with resilience and a touch of humor.

Moreover, the book offers a refreshing perspective on self-love and acceptance. Shrek's unapologetic self-confidence becomes a beacon of inspiration for readers seeking to break free from societal expectations and be comfortable in their own skin.

In addition to its thematic brilliance, "How to Be More Shrek" is beautifully illustrated, bringing the enchanting world of Shrek to life on every page. The visuals complement the narrative, adding an extra layer of charm to an already delightful reading experience.

Whether you're a die-hard Shrek fan or simply someone looking for a unique and entertaining approach to self-improvement, this book is a must-read. It successfully captures the essence of Shrek's character and transforms it into a guide for leading a more authentic and fulfilling life. "How to Be More Shrek" earns its five stars for its creativity, humor, and the invaluable life lessons it imparts. In the realm of self-help literature, where clichés abound and advice often feels generic, "How to Be More Shrek: An Ogre's Guide to Life" emerges as a refreshing and utterly delightful exception. This quirky and insightful book, inspired by the beloved ogre from the Shrek franchise, guides readers through a journey of self-discovery, embracing one's true self, and living life on their own terms.

"Setting Boundaries"

The book begins by tackling a crucial aspect of personal growth – establishing clear and healthy boundaries. Just as Shrek guards his swamp with a fierce protectiveness, we too must set limits to protect our time, energy, and emotional well-being. The authors remind us that saying "no" is not a sign of weakness but rather a demonstration of self-respect.

"Being Unabashedly Yourself"

Society often pressures us to conform to certain standards and expectations, stifling our individuality. Shrek, with his unconventional appearance and unapologetic nature, serves as a beacon of self-acceptance. The book encourages readers to embrace their quirks, flaws, and all, reminding us that true happiness lies in being authentic.

"Making Friends"

Shrek's journey from a solitary ogre to a cherished friend teaches valuable lessons about building meaningful connections. The book emphasizes the importance of genuine kindness, empathy, and shared experiences in fostering friendships. It reminds us that true friends appreciate us for who we are, warts and all.

"Celebrating Your Layers"

Like an onion, Shrek has layers, and those layers make him who he is. The book encourages readers to embrace their own complexities, acknowledging that our experiences and imperfections shape our unique identity. It's about celebrating the totality of who we are, not just the parts we deem acceptable.

"Your Quest, Your Rules"

Shrek's unconventional path to happiness serves as a reminder that life isn't about following predetermined rules but rather about forging our own adventures. The book encourages readers to define their own version of success and fulfillment, pursuing their dreams with passion and determination.

"How to Be More Shrek" is not just a self-help book; it's an invitation to embrace the ogre within, to celebrate our individuality, and to live life on our own terms. With humor, wisdom, and a touch of irreverence, the book guides us towards a life of authenticity, self-acceptance, and true happiness. So, step off the beaten path, embrace your inner ogre, and embark on your own unique quest to a life of fulfillment.

Where do I begin with the literary masterpiece that is "How to Be More Shrek"? This book is an absolute marvel! It’s a life-changing experience that’ll make you question why you ever bothered with reality before.

From the moment I cracked open its beautifully swamp-scented pages, I was whisked away into a world of ogre wisdom and layers upon layers of complexity. The profound insights into swamp etiquette and onion-layered personalities had me reevaluating my whole life.

The writing style is so captivating, it’s as if the words themselves perform a jig right off the page, inviting you to join in the merry dance of ogre self-discovery. And the illustrations! They are so breathtakingly green that Pantone might as well rename their shade book after this opus.

What a delightful experience! And the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on! One moment, I was shedding tears of joy over Shrek’s profound relationship with donkeys, the next I was contemplating the deeper meaning of life and layers, so many layers.

Overall, "How to Be More Shrek" is not just a book; it’s a guide to enlightenment. If you don’t read it, you're missing out on the chance to become the most ogre-tastic version of yourself. Highly recommend it to anyone seeking transformation into a lovably grumpy, yet charmingly layered, ogre.

The most fantastic book I’ve ever read. It changed my view on life and ogres. I have found my inner Shrek, I have changed my diet to only onions to get the full experience. I found a friend like Donkey, annoying yet beautiful. I also found my Fiona, my true love. With three disgusting children who are like ogres. I destroyed my inner Farquaad, and have peeled back my layers. My top song on Spotify Wrapped was All Star by Smash Mouth. Best book of the year, deserves a Pulitzer Prize. It should have its own talk show. Need a sequel on Donkey asap PLEASE! ♾️/5 ✨. Thinking about writing a fanfic.

Initially picked it up for the memes but read it all in like an hour while sitting in the bookstore and it actually had some good stuff unironically. Each entry has callbacks to the movie that actually fit into the messages. Great for someone starting that journey to become more complete in a familiar place or an unfamiliar one!

Got this as a kind of gag gift for Christmas because (not that any of you would know this but) I love Shrek. All things Shrek. Shrek is life. 10/10 movies.

This was awesome. The only self-help style book you ever need to read. It’s filled with commentary from Shrek himself! It’s a nice quality with color photos throughout too. Perfect for any age that really wants to get out there and ogre out.

Personally a 5/5*. A quick, comedic read.
