Sheriff Jack Whitley hadn't seen Alana Davis in nearly a year. Not since he'd saved her life and helped to deliver her baby. And when she'd mysteriously disappeared, he'd raised her son as his own. So despite the way Alana's vulnerability tugged at his heart, Jack vowed he wouldn't let her claim his child. But with a dangerous killer hot on her trail, he found himself wanting to be her protector. Keeping her safe meant he ran the risk of losing his son. And ultimately his heart.

The action in this book was nonstop. Alana was kidnapped and kept as a prisoner after she delivered her son Joey. The kidnappers kept her drugged. She somehow found the strength to get away and make it to the police station. Jack was the town sheriff. He was the one that saved Alana 8 months ago when her car went over a bridge. He got her to the hospital just in time for her to have her son. He adopted Joey when Alana just left the hospital, and her son. Having Alana turn up now is hard. He is not willing to give up the baby he calls his son. One thing is for certain, Jake will always defend the law, and protect those that need his protection, even Alana.
There are so many suspects in this book, that I had no idea who was behind the kidnapping, or attacks. Someone wanted Alana dead. This was a excellent book with suspense, action, and romance.
