I started this series over 20 years ago. As much as I have loved this world and the characters in it, I'm glad I can say it's over and one with now.

This is probably the weakest of Greeno's books about the ghatti. I really felt like she just didn't know how she wanted to wrap it all up. Rather depressing ending, but it was dampened by foreshadowing at the beginning. I feel like I enjoyed the original trilogy a lot, but this book (and the previous) somehow didn't captivate me as much.

I've enjoyed visiting the world of the Ghatti but this is an unsatisfying end to the series. The main problem for me was pacing. The middle of the book dragged, partly because of the number of character viewpoints. The ending felt rushed, and some loose ends were left to the epilogue. I find myself glad to end the series.

Better story than its predecessor, but still ran a little long and slow in spots. It did have a satisfactory conclusion.
