I started this series over 20 years ago. As much as I have loved this world and the characters in it, I'm glad I can say it's over and one with now.

This is probably the weakest of Greeno's books about the ghatti. I really felt like she just didn't know how she wanted to wrap it all up. The plot dragged until about 250 pages or more into the book. It was interesting past that, but I still felt like it was too long, too drawn out, and switched focus to too many different sets of characters. When everything was coming to a climax, many of those characters felt more and more unnecessary. Those parts could have been trimmed to keep the pace going better, I think. I don't feel like taking out a few of them would have hurt things all that much.

In the years since this book was written, I assume Greeno has not written anything else of any note. Especially not involving the ghatti or this world. I very much would like to see these things expanded on. There's plenty of room for the twins and their bonds to become stories of their own, or something could be picked up with an entirely new set of characters. Alas, I don't think Greeno is interested in writing any more of these kinds of books.

The ending leaves a lot to be desired. I'm obviously not going to go into detail about it, but I couldn't help but think that Greeno just had no other ideas as to what to do with everything when it came time to close. I suppose that adds to my feeling of "unfinished business" with this series.

Rather depressing ending, but it was dampened by foreshadowing at the beginning. I feel like I enjoyed the original trilogy a lot, but this book (and the previous) somehow didn't captivate me as much.

Gayle Greeno would have been better to have left things as they were at the end of the previous book (Sunderlies Seeking). I'm glad she hasn't tried to write a third book in this 2nd series of the Ghattis' Tales.

I've enjoyed visiting the world of the Ghatti but this is an unsatisfying end to the series. The main problem for me was pacing. The middle of the book dragged, partly because of the number of character viewpoints. The ending felt rushed, and some loose ends were left to the epilogue. I find myself glad to end the series.

I would so enjoy more by this author. I have read all of them and reread them.

Better story than its predecessor, but still ran a little long and slow in spots. It did have a satisfactory conclusion.
