This third book in the Four Treasures series did not disappoint! I obviously want to try and keep this review as a non-spoiler review, but I will say it improved on everything from the last two books and really built up so much momentum - I can't wait for book four.

All of the characters played important roles in the story which is an impressive feat considering that at this point in the story there is a rather large cast. New characters are introduced, including a no-nonsense Pirate Princess, and they fit in perfectly with the already established group that we love. If you need a reminder, this unique friend group includes:
• Two selkies, fae that can switch between human and seal.
• A half-human half-fae warrior with elemental powers.
• A demon healer with a heart of gold
• The Prince of Eilanmor - a gay romantic who would do anything for anyone.
• A common human who is just as brave as anyone else.
• A unicorn.
My only complaint is that we don't get enough time with all of the characters together, but they are busy on important missions trying to save the world so I suppose I can forgive them.

Caroline Logan's writing is descriptive and easy to get lost in, she builds up the world in such an interesting and organic way. We visit lots of new locations throughout this book and each is as fresh and interesting as the last - from more exploration of the fairy court to relaxing mountain-top spas. The chapters are always quite short which I personally enjoy, and they always end on the perfect note to make you want to keep reading all night!

Obviously I highly recommend this series - if you enjoy fantasy, fae, found families and fun adventures then it is a must read.

I had long waited for the next instalment of this fantastic (and shamefully underrated) series. Ailsa is such a fantastic kick-ass heroine that I find it very easy to root for her, and I have become very fond of some of the other characters, too. I'm invested by now, book 3 in the series, and Logan manages to juggle multiple points of view so skilfully that this book does not disappoint. My favourite new character is a Capitana called Irene who is not easily forgotten. More please! The ending is something else - you'll know what I mean when you get there!

This... was amazing!!! The cliffhanger?!?! And I adored all of the character development!! STG if Maalik and Angus don't stop being absolute imbeciles
I am ridiculously excited for book 4 and absolutely furious that I've got to wait until next year! Guess that's my 26th birthday present sorted though!

FULL REVIEW:

The Sword of Light by Caroline Logan is the third book of four in the Four Treasures series. A Scottish YA Fantasy series that I absolutely adore. I was lucky enough to be gifted this book by Cranachan Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

With where Logan left off at the end of book two there was a lot to live up to, and boy did she manage it! There is even more (amazing) character development here, not only from those that we've been following in books one and two, but also from the new characters we're introduced to.

We explore the world even further in this book, travelling around via submarine (yes, submarine) to so many different locations and meeting so many people through the Isles of Ossiana.

As you know, I'm writing this review a while after I actually read the book (I read this at the start of October 21) and it's being published only a day after my review of book two (which you can find here) so there isn't too much more that I can say without delving into spoiler territory.

For My CAWPILE rating I gave this book: Characters: 10, Atmosphere: 9, Writing: 9, Plot: 9, Intrigue: 9, Logic: 9, and Enjoyment: 10 which gives a 9.29 rating and a 5* read!

This book was amazing. The cliffhanger has left me on the edge of my seat, I adored all of the character development (I stg if Maalik and Angus don't stop being absolute imbeciles), and I am ridiculously excited for book four and absolutely furious that I've got to wait until October! Although I guess that's my 26th Birthday present sorted!!

This book did not disappoint!!

Thanks to the publisher Cranachan for sending me an early review copy 😊

This is the 3rd book in The Four Treasures series and it was so fast-paced and engaging. The world-building is excellent and in this book, more of The Isles of Ossiana are explored. I loved learning and experiencing the different people and cultures of this world. It's such a vibrant place.

This book developed the characters even more and tightened and strengthened the interpersonal relationships between all the characters. I LOVE Maalik so much! 😍

I highly recommend this book and series. If you love fantasy adventures along with magic, fae, and brilliant characters then this is a must-read!

The Sword of Light is the next explosive instalment in the fantasy series The Four Treasures by Caroline Logan. Steeped in Scottish myth and folktales, this book continues Ailsa’s journey, a changeling who has spent almost all her life as an outcast, as she fights imperious dark forces in an attempt to save the world. Joined with her gang of friends and new faces (including a bewitching pirate princess), Ailsa sets out to find the legendary four treasures which, together, hold the power to unleash chaos onto the world. But, in the right hands, these four treasures can also come together to save it: Ailsa’s mission. And she’s running out of time.

There are demons, selkies, magic, fae folk, and royalty all involved in a broiling fight and battle to save the world and everyone in it - with unexpected twists and turns along the way. This was a rollercoaster ride and a belter of a fantasy adventure. Caroline Logan delivers a gripping, fast paced novel that doesn’t disappoint, with a surprising cliff-hanger ending that leaves readers wanting!

The romance between Ailsa and Maalik is one of the most well written stories I have ever read. It's all so perfect. 100% recommend!! I know that's not the main story but I have read through book 2 and 3 only reading the bits with them both in it multiple times and it is AAAA SO GOOD please read it!!!

I really enjoyed the latest book in the series and am very excited about the release of the next book in October to finally learn about Ailsa’s parentage and hopefully get the gang back together again!
