Informative and helpful
I think those who are going to get through the same procedures after reading this book can consider themselves lucky.
The core purpose for the readers to choose the book, as well as for the author to write it, is well-introduced in the Prologue.
That purpose is not only crystal clear, but also super-informative, realistic and really helpful for many who have to take the surgery.
It is a medical book, but it goes like a storytelling, so it’s not boring.
I did enjoy reading it, and I recommend this book to anyone whether or not you need the cataract surgery now.

A Comprehensive Guide
I recently finished reading A Patient's Guide to Cataract Surgery: Normal and LASIK Reshaped Cornea. The author does an exceptional job of providing thorough, informative, and engaging content that can help readers make well-informed decisions about cataract surgery. I found her first-person account of the procedure—which included a description of the procedure before, during, and after—particularly helpful. The book also features diagrams and photos that make it easier to understand the visual difference between someone with normal vision and someone with cataracts.
I was also impressed by the author's critical recommendations, especially concerning saving your records. Her personal experience of the surgeries was also very interesting, and I was surprised to learn about the blurred vision she experienced after the first surgery and the necessity of a second surgery. Additionally, I liked that the book included the changes with the procedure as technology has advanced.

Interesting from the patients perspective
I'll start off by stating that I work as a surgical nurse in the OR and preops for cataract and lasik surgeries. I originally picked up the book because I was curious to read a patients perspective, and especially wanted to know what the author was going to tell other patients. Overall, it was fairly accurate, and I was impressed with the use of some key words of the equipment we use.
As far as the complications follow the authors surgery, the patient blames her previous lasik surgery, but I am not convinced. The author did mention the ORA picture measuring, which is pretty standard, at least at our clinic. There are countless reasons why the patient didn't have clear vision the next day, but previous lasik isnt to blame. It also sounded like she was blocked prior to surgery,, seeing how her eye was patched up afterwards. Which is only for really bad cases. So the patients cataract were not quite as simple as her husband..
I have more questions than answers. Did she have a vitrectomy, was it a dense cataract, did the patient under lenx laser, or did she just have sensitive corneas? All of these would kinda explain the poor healing. (Not the misinformation that previous lasik was the cause)

This book will provide a step-by-step account of four cataract surgeries: The book is well-written and easy to read. The book is short and to the point. It describes two surgeries for a person with a history of 20/20 vision and two surgeries for a person who had LASIK surgery in their youth. The author wrote the extreme importance of having a complete copy of all the notes from the LASIK surgery. In the book, you will learn what happens before, during, and after cataract surgery in both situations. You will learn exactly what to expect in both routine and complicated situations.
If you are going to have cataract surgery, I highly recommend you read this book.

I like that it was written from personal experience
I have had Lasik surgery and have no access to my original records. At this point I've had my first cataract surgery and will now need to have the lens replaced. I had questions and this book helped me to know that those questions were important so I have decided to get a second opinion instead of relying on my original surgeon. I really appreciate the effort the writer took to record closely her experience with correcting her Lasik treated eyes. This is good information and I have not found it written in this detail anywhere else.

I am glad to have read the book. Every patient has a unique experience with cataract surgery. The book tells you exactly how. The quote on the first page of the book assures you that the it is not a dry description of a clinical procedure. The author and spouse underwent cataract surgery, one in both eyes and and the other in one eye. Each surgery unfolded differently. How do complications pan out in terms of vision? The book tells you. If you are or have an elderly person at home, whether or not you have cataracts, the book is for you.

This book makes cataract surgery options more clear
This was a fascinating and insightful read. As a future cataract surgery candidate I thought it was well worth my time. The author’s experience and that of her husband’s is laid out very factually which I appreciated
