V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn't happen.
Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it.
When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.

Eh. The romance was severely underdeveloped, and all the MCs would do is debate in class then have sex. That's it. No tension or build up either, which sucks because the taboo-ness of them being teacher/student is supposed to bring some of that πŸ”₯, but nah these characters were just like like F that lets show all in front of all the other students. Super unrealistic and just boring. Also anticlimactic, and I had a hard time taking any of these supposed "bada**" characters seriously.

No ow/om drama

4.25 stars- An OTT obsessed professor and his student? yes please

I am a sucker for professor/student romance, ESPECIALLY when the H is OTT j/p and obsessed- no other woman will do: those Hs are my Kryptonite!

Estella (19) goes to class late and sees her new professor, Ryder (33), and is stunned because she’s had a crush on him since she was 15. Of course, he’s very fit🀀, handsomeπŸ˜…, and has a certain presence about himπŸ˜‰. She’s supposed to go on a date with a friend, something she stunned about because she considers herself on the plain side, yet her professor makes her feel more things than she should be feeling. They start having a discussion about Persephone and Hades, and it gets heated. The back-and-forth is delicious and tension-filled, especially considering the topic at hand.

See, Estella has been sheltered a lot. Her brother, Octavius, used to lock her up so that she never experienced or saw the child abuse that he endured when they were growing up. Because of that, she always feels indebted to her brother. Her brother has the physical reminders of their abusive childhood πŸ₯Ί. But that doesn’t mean that she’s naΓ―ve or isn’t aware of the dangers out there. In fact, she admires a well-known Hades persona that k!lls men that abuse women.

Ryder was beat up, abused, unloved as a child and as he was growing up. He witnessed a lot of things no child should ever witness. Because of that, he doesn’t know what it feels like to be loved, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that when he meets Estella, he becomes obsessed, possessive, and jealous πŸ˜…. The scene where he basically follows Estella and orders her to cancel her date had me sweating a little πŸ˜… (in a good way). #mineminemine

The smexx scenes. I mean. This was almost on the insta-love side, but I didn’t care lol, and the buildup wasn’t as organic as it could’ve been, but I still enjoyed it. Estella works in a library, and… OH. MY. GODDD… I never did anything even close to what Ryder and Estella did πŸ₯΅πŸ”₯. The tension builds when they’re arguing in the the classroom and then it πŸ’₯ when they’re alone πŸ˜…πŸ₯΅. Hands on thr0at, bit!ng the neck/ear lobes are my personal weakness, and this has it a lot 🀀. By 30%, the tension explodes, and they take advantage that they’re alone, in a dark corner, and it’s πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯. And then in his office when he gets into another debate in class πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅. Oh dear LAWD πŸ˜‰πŸ˜….

Although she’s not a V, he still has to teach her all the pleasures of the body πŸ’¦, which he’s extremely happy to do πŸ˜‰. Her one experience wasn’t the best. Their connection goes deeper than just surface level, especially when they open up and share their childhood stories, both rooted in tragedies. One thing is for sure, he’s very protective of her and I love that about him. Plus, the epilogue is cute and demonstrates how in love they still are πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°.

I wish the flashback scenes were more fleshed out or maybe have a prologue that includes the flashback scenes.

Also, I would’ve liked it to be longer to show a longer buildup to their physical connection. Maybe a couple of class debates before he approaches her and touches her. I also wouldn’t have minded to find out more about this Hades persona or the Four Horsemen.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. I hope there’s a book on her brother. I see there’s one on Santiago.

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd
-the h is supposed to go on a date with OM. She doesn’t though
-condom appears in the first smex scene but then it’s not mentioned again
-flashback scenes of h’s father beating up h’s brother (not in detail)
-child abuse/torture (H)
-r@pΒ£ (not the MCs- flashback/memories)
-breath play/edging/praise kink
-Epilogue/HEA (6 years later)

This story is exactly what the title says, A professor and his obsession - and I mean actual obsession. His possessiveness over her is like no other.

I enjoyed the Hades and Persephone references throughout the story, however I found the story overall an average and not so interesting read. Frankly, I was far more interested in Octavius (FMC Brother) and the four dark horsemen (Octavius’ friends). I believe each horsemen will be getting their own book so I can’t wait to read those, especially Octavius and Florian’s books.

If you’re in the mood for a possessive professor who has a dark past and loads of trauma and who ends up falling for the somewhat innocent student with a dark-ish past as well and a very protective brother, then this story is for you.

πŸŒπŸŒπŸŒβž‘οΈβ†˜οΈβ¬‡οΈβž‘οΈThis is my own personal thoughts and opinion about the book so if thats not sit right with you or you feel I’m not being fair blablabla, please know that everybody in this world have their own different things that they like and don’t like. It may not be the same thing with you but thats okay because i am my own person and you cannot control me or tell me what to do. For example; i put ketchup (tomato sauce) on my fried chicken. You think that’s disgusting? For me its not and i’ve been eating it like that for many many years. You tell me to put another sauce and see if i like that better? I already did many many times in years but i still like the way i like it. It’s called differences between me and you and billions people in this world😊 be open mindedπŸ˜™ I respect people’s opinions about my opinions but in the end of the day if i say I don’t like it or i do like it, its up to me and its on me. And in the end of the day i always liked and show my respect to books and people’s opinions on books whenever that book is good or not good in my opinion 😊 Respect people’s opinions guysπŸ˜™πŸ˜™ I don’t want to write this down because its not really my thing to do it. To like address something like this when obviously i know the people who’s been reading my reviews many times and all the time, they are smart enough to understand and respect other people’s opinions no matter what their opinions on book or their point of view πŸ˜™πŸ˜™ am i right? πŸ’• also there are people even though i already write β€œthis book is different because i have my own taste of book” those people still comment my taste is this and that when HELLO… everybody have their own thoughts on books and what they want to read… why i read it then? I read it and give it a review because i have to read a book to give it a review… why not read the description book to understand before I’m going to read it? Hello just in case you haven’t notice, description books can be tricky because they write this amazing things about a book but turns out the story is so toxic. Maybe for me its toxic but not for you? YES HELLO THATS WHY US HUMAN BEING HAVE OUR DIFFERENCES, WHAT I LIKE IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU WILL LIKE IT AND EITHER WAY TOO. why i still write the review then if i just don’t like a book? Because I CAN and i want to, you cannot tell me what to do and not what to doπŸ€ͺ if you still wants to be negative and be karens about my review on book after all of what i just write, i will never acknowledge you and simply ignore you because its not that hardπŸ™ I won’t respond to negativity commentsπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ DON’T ASK ME AGAIN ABOUT WHY NOT RESPONDING TO YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS BECAUSE I ALREADY SAY IT HERE AND I WON’T BE EXPLAINING AGAIN BECAUSE WE’RE NOT CHILDREN SO ITS NOT HARD FOR YOU AN ADULT TO UNDERSTAND😌😌 YES MY REVIEW IS LONG BUT YOU READ IT ANYWAY AND ITS FINE ACTUALLY I CAN WRITE AS LONG AS I LIKE😎 YES MY GRAMMAR IS BAD SOMETIMES AND MAYBE ALL THE TIME BUT LUCKILY MANY PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I’M SAYINGπŸ€ͺ ⬅️↖️↕️⬅️↩️‴️

Every time I read one of V.F. Mason’s books, I fall under the spell of her new possessive and obsessive irreparably damaged anti-hero who is unstoppable in his quest to possess the woman who is the key to his salvation.

She comes to my class late.

Innocent. Naive. Beautiful.
A sheltered princess whose body begs me to teach her the forbidden things she only heard about.

Her eyes mesmerize me.
Her mind tempts me.
Her pure heart speaks to the monster inside me.
I crave to possess her.

When God asked for a perfect, haunting beauty designed to drive men insane, he created her. He gave her a voice to lure them and a way of moving that's temptation in itself.

Even though, the writing was stellar and the chemistry between Estella and Ryder was explosive as always, The Professor and His Obsession was not my favorite read by the author maybe because I needed a little more meat to their story. That being said, being a die-hard fan of her work, I can't wait to read the next book in the Four Horsemen series hoping it will be the story of Octavius (the heroine's brother).

Another great read!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)
Trope: Instalove
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
Triggers: none

Another dark, instalove obsession book by the queen of instalove obsessions. And I eat them up every time. Dark, controlling hero with tortured past paired with likeable, slightly nerdy, virgin heroine. Perfect recipe! This story was all about the meet and the angst over her brother's approval; I do wish their had been a little more meat to the story, but loved it none the less!

DNF @ 30% - Tale as old as time. πŸ˜… Off the rails crazy-town older hero (grown ass man) with undiagnosed mental disorder and weird issue with perpetual public boners, latches on to a younger moronic girl and acts like a complete nutcase creeper. She of course thinks nothing of her random older professor licking her neck in the library and demanding she not hang with her friends. Out of the clear blue sky. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ€‘ #surething

This story is kind of a retelling of Hades and Persephone. I have read several before but never have I had one that was this well done. The professor is teaching mythology and I actually learned a lot about it while reading this story.

This author writes obsessive characters better than anyone that I've ever read. Ryder was a professor. He was an illegitimate child because his father was having affairs on his wife. Ryders other worked at a brothel where he was left to grow up until he was 5. The father had 4 other sons but his wife hated Ryder because he was a product of his father's stepping out of their marriage. This poor kid was treated terribly. His backstory is sad. The four brothers carried on the family mafia like business while Ryder made his own money and withdrew from his brothers because of the way he was treated as a kid. When he saw Estella he became obsessed. This is where this author excels! As a reader you could feel Ryder obsess nonstop about Estella.

Estella is his student but also part of an enemy crime family. Her backstory of her childhood and her brother's childhood were also riddled with abuse. Her and her brother are close. Her brother tries to protect her from everything. No one will be good enough in Estella's life. She is sheltered until she meets the handsome professor that she has a crush on.

So sometimes teacher/ professor relationships ick me out because they have the power to blackmail their student. This one was like that because the university had no rules against a professor/ student relationship. I have never heard of one that didn't so this was quite interesting. It took that part of the hurdle out of the couple's way.

The story still had plenty of drama and there is no way another hero could be any more over the top possessive or jealous. Ryder was the epitome of caveman. I feel like I am obsessed with this writers work now. I guess Ryder's obsession is contagious!

Ryder and Estella’s story is one of my more favorite genres and I love a obsessed a hero. Estella should be the last person he comes near for many reasons but he can’t help it. She’s his weakness and she doesn’t even know it

Lie. Run. Fantasize. Corrupt. Take.

He wasn't supposed to be in Chicago. His brother, the head of the Irish mob, warned him to stay away...the Four Dark Horsemen weren't to be trifled with, and Estella wasn't to be touched. But Professor Ryder MacAlister was confident that none of his students would be enough to tempt him. And none would even come close to handling his dark side, least of all the protected princess, Estella Reed.

When God asked for a perfect, haunting beauty designed to drive men insane, he created her. He gave her a voice to lure them and a way of moving that's temptation in itself.

I'm going to start off by saying how much I needed a possessive hero before I started this book. I'd been craving Ryder's energy, and he did not disappoint. There was instant chemistry between him and Estella (prepare for a delicious fast burn). Add in the fact that she's a sheltered mafia princess and he's her handsome and dangerous new professor, and the heat just gets turned up.

Also, where do I sign up for Professor MacAlister's Greek and Roman Mythology class? Because the topics and debates had me loving every second...I need him to teach me, maybe in more ways than one.

And the ending...I did not see that coming. And I mean that in the best way. I love Octavius. I was not expecting to enjoy his character as much as I did. The Four Dark Horsemen were divine, but he is just a mastermind.

I'll drive so deep into you, filling you so much you won't know how to live without me.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

The couple: Ryder and Estella

Romance genre: stalker
Length: 268 pages

Plot: Ryder is the bastard brother in an Irish mob crime family, and he would like to be left out of their business. He has his own psychopath/vigilante thing going on, thank you very much. His brother calls him, though, to specifically warn him away from Estella Reed, younger sister to one of the infamous Four Horsemen of Chicago, and student at the college where Ryder will be teaching. Well, you know what happens next. Of course, Estella walks into Professor MacAllister's class - she's late, she's a little mouthy, and she's his new obsession. Ryder falls in love hard and fast. On her end, Estella has had a crush on Ryder for a while (he's a bit of a celebrity in his field). Their affair ramps up quickly, with Estella understanding little of it but wanting more of it. Ryder will have some explaining to do once Estella finds out who he is though.

Commentary: V.F. Mason can write a psychopath like nobody else. The truth is that Ryder is one of her softer characters - sweeter, but still with an edge. He falls for Estella in record time and never wavers from that. She's the one who waffles, and it's no wonder: she's young, inexperienced, and because of her brother, extremely sheltered. But her love is never in question, and she is able to see parts of Ryder that nobody else does. In fact, she's able to see all of him, and that is part of the appeal. I loved this story, even though I'm not sure that the age gap made a lot of difference. It added just enough experience to Ryder so that he could direct their time together, but it didn't cause problems in their relationship.
I also loved getting a little more of the Four Horsemen, and I can't wait until Octavious meets his match!

***RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW***

Estella and Ryder are intense!

Ryder is obsessed with Estella when they first meet and there is instant attraction. Adding to the fact that Estella had a crush on him since she was 15, it was meant to be!!

Ryder is an intense character, but he is protective, loving and completely obsessed with Estella. He will do anything for her, even if he has to fight the world. He has suffered a lot in the past and has completely closed people off, until he meets his match.

Estella has grown a lot in this book, her life hasn't always been a fairytale. She is loving, strong, loyal and empathetic. I loved her character development, from someone who was scared to move forward in life to a strong woman, who will not let anyone boss her around.

I was really surprised about how the story was connected with the Four Housemen, but it made me love them even more! No joke they are my favourite characters.
I am intrigued by the MacAlister Clan, cannot wait to see where they will go next!

V.F. Mason is a wonderful author and I do enjoy her books. But for some reason, I could not get into The Professor and His Obsession. I feel like I am missing something when I started reading this book, is there a book before this one that started off a series? If so that should be mentioned before reading this one. Second, I was not too thrilled with the lead, Estella. I can give a lot of leeway for a young girl, and I usually do. but there was just something so young about her. Third, Ryder was way too back and forth about making her his. She was then she wasn't his. It was too much. I wanted to scream. I finally had to give up, trying to figure it out and just try to finish the book. I am hoping the four horsemen books will be stronger and better.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Once upon a time she became min. Mine to teach. She comes to my class late. Innocent. Naive. Beautiful. A sheltered princess whose body begs me to teach her the forbidden things she only heard about. Her eyes mesmerize me. Her mind tempts me. Her pure heart speaks to the monster inside me. I crave to possess her. A beauty trapped in the gilded cage of her brother's creation. Her every move is watched. Scrutinized. His reputation alone promises trouble to whomever goes against his wishes. I should stay away from her. Instead she becomes my obsession. And I intend to keep her as my own no matter the cost. After all...I'm a sinner who will use every weapon in his arsenal to achieve what he wants. Even if it means declaring a war between our families to get her.

This is the story of Ryder and Estella. I thought it was a little dark but not so dark that it is the darkest thing I have ever read. But it might still hold some triggers for some people. Ryder is a man who has had a horrible past by no fault of his own and has a brother that is the head of the mafia and warns him not to go to Chicago because of a treaty he made with Octavius and the Four Dark Horsemen who rule Chicago. Estella has a super overprotective brother that raised her from a young age and got them out of the mess they were in and everyone knows to not mess with his sister. Octavius is her brother and people know better than to mess with the dark horsemen. But Ryder has been offered a job in Chicago and he gets a warning to not go from his brother but refuses to not go. From the second he turns from his white board to look to see who dares to be late to the college class he is teach he lays eyes on Estella and his obsession begins. This is a man who is determined to have the woman he wants and will go to great lengths to get him. Imagine Estella's shock when her childhood crush is her Professor. How will she ever be able to be in his class? After all he has a reputation as a tyrant as a teacher. But after the way she is treated that first day of class she isn't sure what to think about this demanding man who has suddenly come in to her life. This too is a story about family. Weather it is the family you are born into or the family of your own making. I loved every single second of it and I loved Ryder and Estella. I am so curious about Octavius and I so hope that one day we get to read his story. I have to know everything there is to know about him but I must say we got quiet the picture of how he and Estella were raised and what they had to go through and I will tell you that his their past and Ryder's just about tore my heart out. This is a great read. One I devoured and couldn't get enough of. Make sure you do not miss this one.

I believe I found this on through Instagram and I was in desperate need of something forbidden and angsty. And this book definitely hit both of those marks.

Forbidden not only because Ryder is her professor but also because of who their families are. And if you are anything like me, after reading this book, you will want to know anything and everything about all these other characters that make themselves known in the story. There is a lot of dark romance just screaming to be heard and read from these dark, delectable men.

But oh the angst! Estella is such a sheltered girl thanks to her brother’s over protectiveness. So much, you can practically see the angst radiating from that aspect alone. Ryder is demanding and absolutely possessive. Almost overboard. But the author wrote and delivered an amazing story that I flew through every free second I had.

The romance, while it tried to start off dark, ended up being something more. It was special and beautiful in so many ways. And it was pretty much instantaneous. Not in an insta-love way, but there was no room for second guessing. It was just spot on.

Great story that had me glued to the pages anytime I had a chance to read. I look forward to more from this new to me author. 5 Stars!

Another riveting read from a terrific author. This is a dark, student/professor, families at war type of story. Ryder Macallister was the black sheep of his family, he was abused horribly as a child, and has become a vigilante/killer. When he takes over for a friend as a professor in Chicago, he knows there could be problems. An old rivalry pack where no Macallister is to step foot in Chicago, the four horsemen's territory. But Ryder has a mind of his own. When he sees Estella Reed, Octavius Reed's beloved, protected sister, he wants her for his own. But she's his student, she's innocent, she's one of the 4 horsemen's sister. But Ryder always goes for what he wants.
This was a typical mafia story with a twist. I love these dark reads.

Another V.F. Mason book read and no surprise another 5β˜… rating. Just like The Land Where Sinners Atone and Madman Duet, The Professor and His Obsession captivated me from the very beginning, and with each page turn pulled me deeper and deeper into the story, feeding my craving to get more of it. Though it’s a dark romance, compared to other books in that interconnected world of serial killers, it’s way lighter, pleasant. Teacher/student & sweet age gap trope. Ryder and Estella are one power couple, perfectly matched for each other. Despite traumatizing childhood, suffering in the past and fighting demons, both standing strong, embracing new days and challenges ahead. From the moment he lays his eyes on her, his dominant, obsessive and possessive way takes over to claim and protect her. Their heated exchange regards Hades and Persephone only adding up the spice and passion to the relationship, igniting more sexual tension and affection between them. It's an intensive read, with drama, suspense, angst and twists in plot. I loved every bit of it.

eh... it wasn’t my favorite even though this trope is my favorite.

i thought it was an okay book, it was very cheesy and predictable. i love love loveeee my obsessive men but this obsession the H had, was very abrupt. i would have liked a tiny bit more development instead of all this abruptness. he just ran around saying β€œyou’re mine” over and over again it was SO BORING. i just didn’t feel the connection or the intense passion, i just read words on a page. they didn’t effect me at all. the characters didn’t stand out and werent my favorite either. Estella gave me nothing honestly and Ryder was just a parrot repeating the exact same thoughts and words in each chapter. the conflict at the end was extremely anticlimactic and cringy too...

Professor and His Obsession by V.F. Mason. This is Ryder Macallister and Estella Reed's story. Theirs is a dark professor/student relationship but it's deeper than that. EstellaΒ and her older brother are super close are having a childhood that was full of abuse. Now her brother is one of the deadly 4 horsemen. Yet Estella feels like she is stuck in limbo, can't move forward or back. No guy would date her because of who her brother is.. yet suddenly she is at college and her college professor Ryder is older, dark, possessive, forbidden and perfect for her. Yet she's afraid her brother will forbid their romance. The chemistry between them is sizzling, intense, dark and deliciously twisted. Ryder has his own past and it's heartbreaking in itself. I highly recommend reading this book and I hope we get Octavius' story next πŸ’— .

The Professor and His Obsession was a dark, intense, steamy novel that had me hooked from beginning to end. Ryder and Estella’s story was a student/teacher age -gap tale and I loved it. This novel, although dark, isn't as dark as the authors previous books. It was an insta love, obsession tale and I loved the chemistry between these two. Framed by the Greek mythology of Hades and Persephone, Estella and Ryder story was fun yet emotional. Both characters were flawed with pasts they needed to overcome. There was a great cast of secondary characters who will grab your attention. I loved that we got to see the Four Horseman in this tale and I loved the epilogue. This was another great read from this author and I would recommend it to lovers of dark romance.

I loved this story. I got so wrapped up in it that at the surface it's a teacher/student romance but no it goes a lot deeper.

Ryder is no saint. The man is secret and spice. He's the kind of obsessive and possessive that's scary but it works for him. Estella has her baggage and a dark brother who is just as protective.

These two take instant to 1000. Getting inside their heads, hearts was such a rush. All the secondary characters made me laugh, appreciate friendships and how far family can take drama and secrets. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Ryder and Estella's story was sensational and exciting. It was tragic and sometimes difficult to read about the past of some of these characters.
The obsession of this Professor and his student was surprising in its intensity and over the top in his primal desires and needs. But it was so delicious to read and imagine.
It is reminiscent of Hades and Persephone in mythology and was regular referred to in this telling.
V. F. Mason always gives her readers perfectly flawed characters who we love to love or hate, but it always makes the reader feel.

Holy Moly Batman! Although this story isn’t long in terms of chapters, it packs so much into it that it left me reeling. It plays mind games with you while also giving you so much heat I thought my kindle would explode. Estella and Ryder are the modern day Hades and Persephone. I love that we get to see the Four Dark Horseman again and the epilogue sort of coincides with Santiago’s Conquest. This was intense, dark, sweet, obsessive, and so sexy! I need more! More of the McAlisters and the Horsemen please!

I enjoyed this one so much! It was a refreshing take on the trope with that signature V.F. Mason twist! I loved Ryder's devotion and single-minded focus on making Estella his from the moment he saw her. Their banter and heated exchanges only added fuel to the already fiery chemistry between them.
This story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Heartbreaking for what the characters suffered in their past, but heartwarming for the bonds formed through those difficult times. This is definitely one you want to read!

Estella: "I tasted the forbidden fruit... and my heaven on earth turned into hell."

Ryder: "What's considered a sin? Craving someone to the point of insanity."

Estella: "Lust is a weapon. One should be careful when allowing it to rule their life.
Because every weapon can be used against them."

Ryder: "It's dangerous to stand between a man and his obsession.
For a man who has tasted forbidden fruit will stop at nothing to taste it again.
Even if it means killing the dragon standing in his way."

If this author writes it, then I will read it. When I first started this book, I hadn't realized it was kind of a prequel to The Four Horseman(Santiago, Octavian, Remi, and Florian) stories. Color me surprised that it was Octavian's sister, Estella.

I loved the setting of the story. I devoured every debate-type argument about Myths, Gods, and Goddesses. It made me miss some of my favorite classes and professors that I had when I was pursuing my degree. I even liked the idea of Ryder and Estella together. However, I struggled with the timing and the way it came about. One moment Ryder is adamant about not starting a war but then in the first encounter, he's pressing her about being his. It was just odd to me. Now saying that, it still wasn't enough for me to not like the book. As I said, the classroom-type debates and interactions were probably some of my favorite scenes that this author has written. They made me think and I liked that. A lot.

Also, it was great to see life before The Four Horseman become the men that they are and be back in this world. Especially, since Santiago is one of my favorite book boyfriends.
