A great story that is equal to the authors stories I grew up with.

This was a truly marvelous story. The development of the story and the characters was more than I could have hoped for. I can't wait to read the next story. It is like wanting to read another David Weber book.

This is a sci-fi that starts fast and doesn't let up. Daniel Seegmiller draws in his reader from the very start and doesn't let them go until the very end.
There were so many intricate aspects of this story and the galaxy he created.
I loved reading about Konran, a superb lead character that had all of the makings of one that can carry a series such as this. You want to learn more!
Dive into this one ASAP, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome read

good book, plot and story is straight forward, space fights are a bit outrageous but still fun to read. Will def be reading the next one.

Overall it was a fun read but some parts seemed a little forced. Here are some vague examples:
- the way Conran ends up a freighter pilot (it is necessary for him to end up there but the means of getting him there are never referenced again)
- the enemy’s fascination with Conran (another case of playing with your food)
- how the enemy overlooks a very obvious threat due to weak reasoning.

However, it had some cool action sequences and overall a decent enough plot line.

The first space fight, fantastic. Plus it helped get Conran where he was meant to be.

The second fight, great with the way it changed how Conran contributed.

The grand battle at the end… a little underwhelming. Should have given Conran a new tech that would allow him to take on capital ships.

So again, overall it was fun and I give it 3.5/5 and I’ll check out any sequels.

Konran is such a wonderfully crafted lead characters. The author connects the reader to him from the start and you immediately get behind him and his mission. His ups and downs, and journey are that much more fun to read about because of this.
What imagination the author has shown with this book. He is very vivid with his descriptions and something about that along with the cover allows me to picture everything perfectly.
Definitely some surprises along the way and plenty of action throughout to keep you engaged.

First, thank you to the author for providing me with a free copy of the book.
From page one, I was hooked. Something about the way the author describes the main characters dreams, and the harsh reality of not achieving them (only in the beginning), alongside the masterfully portrayed yearning Konran has to become a starfighter really connected with me. As the story progressed, it continued to meet my expectations and it continued to draw in my attention. The side/supporting characters could have been developed a little more, but other than that, absolutely amazing!

I almost put this book down in the first chapter. So much unprnoucable linguistic twists and turns my head was spinning. But I'm glad I kept reading. The characters and story line are good. So where's book 2?

An excellent space warfare adventure

Straighter Rising is an epic story of space conflict, featuring standard humans versus enhanced cyborgs. The battles are engaging and well constructed, and the overall arc didn't disappoint. The characters could be slightly more developed - but I expect the ongoing series will address that. I look forward to seeing how Konran and his companions fight on.

What an incredible journey this book took me on! A fun and exciting read, kept me turning the pages right up to the end.
Seegmiller created such an authentic futuristic world on the pages of his book.
I really enjoyed getting to know, as well as learning more about the main characters, and truly watching them evolve as their journey continued.

Konran has always wanted to be a starfighter ever since he was a little kid playing video games fighting in space. He had a shot at being a fighter but he blew his chance a few years ago. Now he spends his days hauling rocks. One day while hauling rock Konran and his team are about to quit for the day when Konran notices something is off when he spots a Nolvarics ship out in space.

A battle erupts when the Nolvarics attack Konran and his fellow employees. They didn’t think they would make it out alive but they did and now the Nolvarics are hot on his tail they want him dead or alive, anyway, they can get him. As all eyes turn to Konran he gets his chance to be a starfighter. He was meant to be a starfighter.

Starfighter never once lacked for action as it never let up from the first page until the last with Konran flying through space in battle after battle with the Nolvarics. I could see it all playing out in my head as each fighter ship was given permission to leave the bay and as they shoot out into space surrounded by the stars. I could almost hear each and every shot that was fired.

As I was reading Starfighter Rising I kept thinking about Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. When Konran and his team left the bay area I kept thinking about Captain Lee "Apollo” Adama and Captain Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on Battlestar Galactic when they would also, leave the ship in their fighter planes to fight the Cylons.

I loved this world in Starfighter Rising and can’t wait to read more of this world in the next book in the Starfighter Rising series. I would recommend Starfighter Rising to anyone who is into stories like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactic. One-click your copy today to begin an awesome adventure in outer space!

Although the characters are a bit much to believe, you can't help but like them; The action never lets up, and the author's mastery of the language is highly satisfying

This book has some intricately constructed space battles, with layers of multithreaded action scenes, populated by diverse characters. It can nearly overwhelm, even though the overall tone promises hope. Good character development, for a score of players, with a well played storyline. Star Light

A very entertaining space adventure. The little child raised in an orphanage. Drawn compulsively to the Starfighter simulator.
Nothing has been easy for Konran. Circumstances collide to erupt in galactic war. Through virtue, luck, and skill Konran and his friends and colleagues save the universe. The story doesn’t end. Let’s just say, they live to fight again.

Great story!

Fast paced story that kept me intrigued all the way to the end. Great read! I highly recommend this book.

I have to admit, the author has a page at the end thanking the reader for reading the book and mentions that he wrote this with 14 year olds in mind. That would have made the book a little more understandable. The main story arc is good, the action is pretty good, but as an adult I found several things kind of distracting:

-The voice felt a little off, it felt sometimes that it was real time ("he looks to his right") and sometimes it felt not quite real time ("he looked to his right")
-Ocassionally, the narrator would inject things that broke the 4th wall and they were a little distracting.
-The coincidences piled up pretty well, and they seemed to be a little bit much.

BUT, being tailored to a YA audience, some of those can be understandable. All in all, the story isn't bad, some of the specifics were a little trite, some of the writing a little amatuer. Some of the characters interactions were not as natural feeling as I would have liked, but in the end, not a bad read, just not a spectacular one.

I picked a physical copy of this book off the shelf and bought it without knowing anything but the cover and the first couple paragraphs. By the end of chapter 1, I had identified it as self-published:
- info dumping
- As-you-know-Bob dialogue
- prose bloated with similes
and the greatest sin: failing to emotionally capitalize on the main character's devastating life trajectory, which left me feeling distant from and unsympathetic to the main character.

The action starts off hot, no doubt. The prose was clean: no typos. The info dumping and style can be forgiven, but when I don't relate to the character even after they've suffered? That's a major problem.

I find that the story is too technical for my reading taste. Also . too much rambling in trying to describe the difference factions and their relationships to each other. But you did get it right when telling the collusion and corruption in the government of the federation and the human ability too alienated any people that don’t agree with the earth government

I felt the you ramble too much when describing species/people. While I enjoy sci-fi stories I am not into the technical aspects of the deeper of space warping.

The editor or author did not correct several locations, in the story, where the past tense "ed" was required, but not used. Otherwise, the story was good.
