★★★★★ “Fun! This clean mystery is fun to read. Millie has been through a lot since her husband left. Taking a job as an assistant cruise director should be just the thing she needs to keep her busy. She has no idea how busy!” - Cissie B
The beginning of this series is really poor in terms of grammar, proof reading, editing, background research and present quite few inconsistencies and contradictions. While the grammar and proof reading/editing improve along the way, the plotting, writing pace and blatant mistakes are a constant feature. There are quite few racial stereotypes and "mild" homophobia, but being a " Christian Cozy" this has to be expected. Don't waste your money.
This box set of the first ten books of the Millie's Cruise Ship Mysteries series is a great set and a real bargain, if you haven't read this series, you are missing out on great fun books...this is a MUST READ, Really, do not miss this series, they are worth your time and effort, I promise that you will not be disappointed!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series, I fall in love with Millie and the gang from the beginning. The "Millie's Cruise Ship Mysteries' is a wonderful, fantastic, excellent, fun, entertaining and highly enjoyable series with many great characters onboard Siren of the Seas cruise ship full of adventures, mystery, murder, humor, and romance. The description of the ship, each port and place that they visit is wonderful, I love taking vacation on cruise ship but with covid-19 that it's still not safe to cruise so reading this series and imagine myself to be on Siren of the Seas to enjoy all the activities, visiting exotic and interesting places made me so happy ^-^
This is a fast paced cozy mystery that is hard to put down. The plot, characters and story line are well-written, it's a perfect cozy mystery with the perfect amount of humor, mystery, quirky characters, adventure, and romance that will keep any reader completely engaged. I highly recommend the series to any cozy mystery fans and I look forward to the next book.
This was a great series of easy reading, fun characters, and excellent read while on a cruise! Even though we were cruising Alaska and not the Caribbean, it was still the perfect mystery series for a voyage on a cruise ship.
Ten suspenseful cozy mysteries featuring unique mysteries at a variety of ports, senior sleuth Millie and the handsome entertaining captain with adorable teacup Yorkshire pup. Mix in some favorite, some unique and some annoying crew members, plus a fresh wave of passengers including Gloria and her Garden Girls (Book 6) for some page turning fun. As assistant cruise ship director Millie Sanders darts from event to event around a 11 deck ship overseeing exercise classes, bingo, dance sessions, karaoke (Book 7), a Christmas cruise (Book 8), and ship renovations (Book 9). In each mystery, Hope Callaghan reacquaints her readers with the intriguing crew and facts from previous books in the series. The cruises are not always smooth sailing, which makes for a fast entertaining suspenseful read. With some unexpected twists in the plot, the crew assists Millie in solving each ship mystery. Enjoyable WHO DONE IT reads at a bargain price. This avid cozy mystery reader purchased and read as each story was released. Added plus are the author tested delicious easy recipes.
As a frequent cruiser, I can only say that this series is beyond the pale. The notion that a newly hired assistant cruise director could somehow supersede the cruise security professionals is nonsense. I bought books 1 to 10 but couldn’t read beyond book 2. While cozy mysteries aren’t my go to genre, this series made me realize why I don’t care for them.

Thank you to the author for a free copy of this series!
Overall, I would rate this set 2.5 stars but rounded up because they were quick reads. I don't think I will read any more in the series. They just aren't for me.
Book 1 (Starboard Secrets) - 3 stars The story was fun even with a lot of detail in some places and not enough in others. I got to thinking about the resolution and wondering if it really is resolved; I have unanswered questions. Maybe they will be answered in later books? I didn't realize it was a Christian mystery series but I'm okay with it; it's not in-your-face.
Book 2 (Portside Peril) - 3 stars This one was better than the first one. I didn't have as many questions in this. It didn't have the bible quotes that the first one did
Book 3 (Lethal Lobster) - 2.5 stars These are quick reads but I seem to have questions about why some characters and plot points are being included. I don't see the reason and they don't seem to be a resolution...maybe in later books?
Book 4 (Deadly Deception) - 2.5 stars The stories are ok but there still seems to be loose ends.
Book 5 (Vanishing Vacationers) - 2.5 stars
Book 6 (Cruise Control) - 2 stars So far, this has been my least liked of the series. It brought in Millie's cousins and their friends. There was a lot going on with these women. They ate a lot but did I need to know that? After some sleuthing of my own, it looks like the cousins and friends are crossovers from another series by the author. Oh, there was also something big happening with the ship and crew
I've read book one (a quick 135 pages) and won't be moving on. I'm pretty glad I got the entire set for only 99 cents. I didn't realize this was a Christian cozy series. I don't mind Christian references in a book if there's a reason for them to be part of a story I read...but there is no reason here. They don't promote the story or really have anything to DO with the story so the random references and bible verses just seem too...random. They took me out of the story each time.
Even so...I might have figured I could overlook them and continue with the series, but nothing in it made much sense or made me want to see what happens next.
A brand new Assistant Cruise Director takes it upon herself to solve a murder (that happens the MINUTE she walks through the door). She immediately decides she needs to be the one to solve it. Apparently, there are no police or security people who could do this? The ship is allowed to welcome passengers and just leave port, even though a murderer could be on board? A few days down the line, someone questions her doing such a thing as a new staff member and she says it "gives her a reason to get up in the morning". What? So they leave her alone and let her act like she's a detective when she's not busy running the Trivia Game or Bingo.
I'm sorry...but this character and her "methods" make Jessica Fletcher (I've read a couple of the Murder, She Wrote books) look like Sherlock Holmes.
Five stars for 10 interesting plots and well-developed and (mostly) likeable characters. Not being a Christian, I was surprised by all the out-loud praying, but whatever.
What really threw me off was the need for a good editor: how many times does the reader have to know those eating disposed of their dirty dishes in the bin? Maybe we need to know the characters are politically correct, but every time? Please.
And my biggest gripe: for the first 7 or 8 stories, all the men were called men and all the women (many in their late 50's and older) were called girls. How old-fashioned is that? That's like the author wasn't aware of the 1970's and 80's when women worked so hard to be rid of the childish nomenclature. A good editor would have caught that. At least in the last two books, I read "women" and even "gals" a couple of times. Women do refer to themselves sometimes as "us girls," but that doesn't give anyone else permission to call them that. Of course, never were the men referred to as "boys."
I feel like I joined Millie on her adventure when she started the new direction in her life after a messy divorce. Since I will never go on a cruise, I was able to become apart of one. Watching the characters develop and learning of their past a little bit at a time while finding clues to the mystery in each novel made a great read. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone. Yet they also build one to the next. I also appreciate that Millie has a strong faith that carries her through difficult situations. Oh, I also couldn't figure out the "who done it" till the end and usually I can. My kind of cosy. A very enjoyable series!
Not a particularly good writer, this author should announce that her mysteries contain numerous references to being Christian, praying, church services, a Christian god, etc. I found this intrusive and annoying; therefore, I read only the first seven chapters of the first book in the series, in which she sneaks her god into the narrative and her narrator increasingly relies on him. It would serve transparency if the author would let her potential readers know up-front that they’re about to read a Christian subgenre of mysteries. Now I fear Amazon’s algorithm is going to deluge me with Christian books, just because I loaded this one onto my Kindle.
What a fun series!! The quirky crew and circumstances that Millie kept finding herself in kept me hooked! Watching Millie come into the woman she is after some very relatable happenings was so much fun. The relationships that she develops and the equally “meddling” friends were such a delight and actually made me laugh out loud a few times because of their antics.
This wasn’t a series I would have picked up to read (I won this in a Goodreads giveaway) but I am so very glad I had the opportunity and now can’t wait to get the other books in the series! Back to the high seas I go!!!!!
I enjoyed reading about Millie Sanders's book 1-10 so much I plan on purchasing the rest about Millie. Love her friends on the ship and the stories are believable I don't care what anyone else says. Cute, cute, cute and you never know how it is going to end. I have also purchased the "Made in Savannah Cozy Mystery Novels Box Set (The First 10 Books) (Made in Savannah Mystery Series)" and look forward to reading them and other Hope Callaghan books! I did begin these books a couple of months ago, would read about 3 then read something else then come back to them! Think that may have made me enjoy them even more!
I started this series thinking it was a different one & was so surprised & thrilled to find I loved it & looked forward to the continuing story each time I picked it up. This series is fun & interesting without any negative or suggestive energy. Not that I'm against either but it was nice to read stories full of love, laughter, & mystery without gory or suggestive language. I very much enjoyed the books.
Meet Millie Sanders a newly divorcee who becomes a cruise director after a career as a private investigator. This is the first ten books in the series as we get to know her as she meet new friends on board and finding love while solving cases.
I loved this boxset. It was so much fun to take the cruises with all these wonderful people. I love the feeling of family they have for each other. I truly was as if it was a floating city, Millie, Cat, Annette, Danielle , Nic, B rody and Andy feel like old friends to me. Just an enjoyable good read to me. I highly recommend these books

Such a pleasure to read mysteries that are fun and interesting without having bad language and sexual innuendos taking over every page and ruining the read. Ms. Callaghan's books keep you Interested in her story from beginning to end!
Millie is charming and witty character with her ability to solve crimes and get in and out of trouble. The ten books were. Enjoyable and I couldn't stop reading them. Can't wait to read the remaining books in the series. Please keep writing so your fans can enjoy! Thank you!
I adore cozy mysteries that are based on cruise ships. I discovered this set, the price was right (KU), and I began reading. It took me a couple of days to finish, and I have to admit I enjoyed every one of them. I have already ordered Book 11. They are humorous with a great mystery and a romance. Recommend the series.
This series is a must read. It is well written, clean, entertaining characters and a cute puppy. The details of the cruise makes you feel like you are there. Millie and the cast of quirky characters just add to the fun. Can't wait for the next one.
These novels are the most enjoyable cozy mysteries I've read. The characters, the setting and the plot were perfectly blended to keep me totally engrossed in each of the novels.
I love that these murder mysteries are entertaining without having to use the awful language so many authors employ! I also love the Christian aspects! Murder and mayhem without the gory details yet suspenseful and quite entertaining with a lil bit of romance too!
I was dubious beginning the first book but was drawn in by the characters and stories that may require a small bit of open mind, but are truly enjoyable. Ended up reading the whole set and looking forward to the next installment.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series! Lots of mystery, humor and great reading! Enjoyed the unique setting of being on the cruise ship, and appreciated Millie's relationship with God. I highly recommend this series!
Cruise along with Millie & the rest of the crew in this fun 10 book set. Mysteries abound!
Millie and her gal pals come across a mystery in every book. This is an entertaining set of cozy mysteries with likeable characters & seaside settings.
What a great series! These books were a fun read with lots of adventures. I felt like I was on board the ship with Millie & the gang. The characters were funny & full of mysteries. I couldn't put The books down.
I always enjoy reading books by new authors. This was a fast read. The story had many characters but didn’t develop them in any meaningful way that would challenge the reader to seriously question who was the guilty killer. The end of the story left the reader asking “and? ……..
Great series! I was hooked from the first chapter of book 1. Makes you try to figure out who dunit and surprises you when you find out! Highly recommend this series and author to lovers of mysteries.
I loved this box set. I literally binged read this in little under a week. Couldn't put it down and adds to my want list of needing to go on a cruise myself now.
Enjoyed this book and this make believe cruise Ship with Millie and her cruise friends. There isn't anything better than finding love in your mature age.
