The story turns to Earl Ransom, found out on the prairie with no memory of how he got there, what his name is, or any part he played in the life of Magnus King.

I read this one back in '69 or '70. I can vaguely recall enjoying the book, probably because it was just earthy enough to kick my teenage libido into overdrive.

Manfred's novels are very much connected to his native region. His stories involve the American Midlands, and the prairies of the West. He named the area where the borders of Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska meet, "Siouxland."
