When Patrick scares away the Easter Bunny by mistake, SpongeBob decides to put on a bunny suit and hide eggs for his best friend. But the egg hunt takes an unexpected turn when Patrick finds the biggest egg they have ever seen!
Steven Banks has numerous writing and acting credits. He has been a head writer for several Nickelodeon series including "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron", "The Fairly Odd Parents", "CatDog", and "Sponge Bob Square Pants". His play, "Love Tapes," co-written with Penn Jillette (of Penn and Teller fame), was recently performed at the Sacred Fools Theater in Hollywood. And he created, wrote, produced, and starred as himself in "The Steven Banks Show," a comedy series which aired on PBS in the 90s.
I just did not like this book and I don’t think I can bring myself to keep it in my collection even as a SpongeBob fan. It did something the middle seasons of the actuel show love to do, which is make Patrick star kind of mean, then make him cry over being mean, make SpongeBob help him only to be sad because he loses in the end too.
Basically Patrick scared off the Easter bunny so SpongeBob steps in as the Easter bunny and hides eggs, which Is nice, until Patrick decides to be so stupid he can’t even see the eggs in front of him. So SpongeBob places eggs in Patrick’s basket for him. Patrick exclaiming he won making this into a petty contest. But then Patrick gets hungry so he eats all his eggs and cries because he has none, SpongeBob gives him the rest of his eggs then cries himself because he has no eggs. In conclusion if Patrick wasn’t so dumb in this and just egg hunted like normal and didn’t eat all his eggs I could forgive this. But no all he cared about was winning at SpongeBob expense which is not a nice friend thing to do.
It does get some slight boosts from a one star to two because the plot was original and ever since I first read this book as a young kid I always wished the show would tackle Easter!

This is an ok book. Once again spongebob shows that he is a good friend to Patrick. While the story was ok, the kids seemed to like it. This is also an AR book for anyone who wants to know.
I am a librarian. I read this book to a child who asked me to read them a book. He was 4. I am NOT a fan of SpongeBob. The book was fine. He enjoyed it.
Definately NOT a level 2. I would say it's a level 4. Some people just don't understand how to write for early readers. You'll end up reading this one to your kid. It's too frustrating for a beginner reader to read himself.
