Same illustrator as The Sweet Smell of Christmas, which was a childhood favorite of mine. What an exciting surprise find at a library book sale today. The story encourages children to enjoy experiencing the world mindfully with your senses, made more meaningful by being interactive. Hooray for scratch and sniff books!

This is a wordy book about a bunny who is told by his mother to follow his nose. The ideas in how one might follow ones nose are interesting, but the plot might be too wordy. The stickers are spaced a little too far from each other as well. However, focused kids will enjoy this.

One day when Little Bunny claims that he has "nothing to do", his mother suggests that he go outside and "follow his nose". Little Bunny follows his nose to roses, strawberries, pine needles, peaches, cucumbers (that are to be turned into dill pickles), and finally back home to the smell of his favorite cookies, chocolate mint. At the end of the day, Little Bunny thanks his mother for her suggestion to "follow his nose" because he had a fun day.
I liked this book! The story was very cute, and the illustrations were pretty. I also liked the fact that the book was a Scratch & Sniff because it really made the words come to life; you could actually smell the roses, etc.
I could use this book in a classroom to talk about the five senses, but mainly focus on smell. Because this book is a Scratch & Sniff, it would be easy to talk about smell because the children would be able to smell each item that the book describes.

This is a bit ridiculous, but my sister and I scratched the pickle sticker right off the page.

I have our original copy along with a reprint from around 1999 that I'm totally afraid to scratch & sniff and ruin. Our original copy had detailed stickers that completed the illustrations around which they were placed. The reprint just has one color stickers, which is a bit disappointing. The last sticker also changed from the original (chocolate mint cookie) to the reprint (chocolate chip cookie). I also prefer the original's font/text to the reprint's.

Smells from worst to best (based on the scratch factor of our original copy):

Pine
Rose
Cookie
Strawberry Jam
Peach
Pickle

No matter what, along with the Velveteen Rabbit, this book was and still is in my top 10 for childhood influences.

This is probably my favorite book of ten years ago. My mom first read it to me when I was about two, and I still love it, if only for the scratch and sniff. I wouldn't recommend it for SSR, if only because I really believe we should read books beyond kindergarden level in 10th grade. The cookies smell AMAZING because they have an interesting mint-chocolate flavor. The basic story is about a bunny whose mom tells him to go outside and follow his nose, and ends up smelling all sorts of different smells.

This book is on my all-time-favorites shelf. I was lucky enough to stumble across the original 1971 print, in perfect condition, forty years later. My daughter LOVES to sniff ALL the stickers (still scented fantastically), even the pine needles that make her go, "yuck"! I love the genuine sweetness of this book as it takes the reader on an adventure of discovery through curiosity. This book will always have a home in my family.

One of the most creative books out there for kids. Little Bunny takes you along for a adventure and you can be a part of the story. As Little Bunny follows his nose discovering intreaging smells you can smell along with him on every page. Simpley scrach and sniff a book kids will love and I know I loved it when I was little.

I liked this book when I was young, so I bought it for my son. It is a scratch-and-sniff book. One problem is that he wants to skip the text (and pages)so that he can smell the item. Plus, while some of the items have great aromas, others-like the rose-hardly have any smell at all.

Another favorite from childhood! Loved that the scratch&sniff stickers looked like the items in the illustrations, and the scents were unusual selections. We nearly scratched the chocolate-mint cookie completely out of the book!

When my sisters and I were little, we used to scratch the stickers so long and hard that we made it down to the paper. Love this book.

Good story but I don't like the smells, especially the chocolate chip cookie.
