The scars that cut deepest are the ones beneath the surface…

Detective Addison Hale is a survivor. The armor she uses to hide her scars keeps her safe on the job, and holding people at arm’s length is a small price to pay when there’s a stalker on the loose.
Especially since he’s after the sister of impulsive firefighter Ryan Dempsey, who she had a scorching-hot fling with two months ago.

The fling she can’t forget, even though she knows how dangerous it is to get close. To feel.

Ryan will do anything to keep his sister safe, even if it means he has to play by Addison’s rules. But when the stalker sets his sights on the smart, sexy detective, Ryan finds he’ll do anything for her, including risk his life to fight at her side.

But this enemy is as cunning as he is deadly and he’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Addison and Ryan must outrun the shadows and outwit a killer.

No matter the cost.

Kimberly Kincaid adds another nail biting, super steamy romance to her Intelligence Unit series with story about detective Addison Hale and the firefighter who won her heart.

After a lifetime of abuse Addison learned two things: stay positive and never let anyone close enough for them to hurt you. She only does one night stands and never hooks up with friends. Until the night she went home with Ryan Dempsey and fell asleep in his arms.

They didn’t want things between them to get awkward, but they so did. And then Ryan’s sister attracts the unwanted attention of a dangerous stalker.

While they’re trying to keep her safe and catch the stalker, Ryan and Addison are forced to face their feelings for each other. Can they survive the very real thread they’re faced with?

Oh wow, I was so hooked on this story I found it hard to put it down. I love the angst, the danger and romance. I was engrossed from start to finish.

I loved Addison. She’s cool, calm and collected but very tender and caring. Yes, she was a bit broken, but all the stronger for it. Ryan is her perfect counterpart. He’s brash, spontaneous and very charming. I hurt so much for what Addison lived through and loved that Ryan fought to get through her walls in order for them to find happiness together.

Kimberly Kincaid writes a heart stopping romantic suspense with all the feels. I can’t wait to read more about the characters in her world of Remington.

I was hooked from the beginning until the end! I have loved Addison Hale from the moment we met her, as she loved her job & colleagues but at times could be tough. Ryan is a firefighter that she has worked with before and was attracted to but she has never mixed business with pleasure. All that changed when Ryan's sister became the victim of stalking and Hale was assigned to the case. There was suspense, action and some sweet moments throughout the book.

Oh my! The Rogue was another great romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat right from the beginning. Addison Hale and Ryan Dempsey were amazing together. I loved the chemistry they had and I loved how patient and wonderful Ryan was to Addison. And Addison was such an amazing kicka$$ heroine with a really sad past. Loved getting to know these two and seeing how they finally reached their HEA. I especially loved seeing Ryan with his family. I seriously hope his sister Chloe gets a story. I would love to see her get her HEA in the future. I have loved this whole series and all the connected stories. Can't wait to see what else Kimberly Kincaid has in store for these Remington folks.

A masterpiece of swoony excitement

Whew. This book. It grabbed me and did not let go. The tension ramped up and just held me there suspended on the edge of my seat until the very end. It was the perfect balance between the ramping up of the suspense of the stalking, the gradual deepening of the relationship between Ryan and Addison, and the twisted viewpoint of the bad guy. It was delicious perfection. Addison is a detective in the elite Intelligence Unit. She is joyful and positive but does not do relationships because of her past. Ryan is a firefighter in the station close to Addison’s precinct. He is has strong family relationships and is a bit impulsive. Ryan and Addison are friends and they had a one night stand two months ago with little interaction since then. Ryan calls the Intelligence Unit when his sister is being stalked by a customer who frequents the coffee shop where she works. As a result, the journey toward Ryan and Addison’s HEA continues after the brief hiatus following the one night stand. It’s an exciting, roller coaster dangerous ride where they are trying to deal with a wily and dangerous stalker while also dealing with their own issues and fears in their growing relationship. This book has a little bit of everything you’d expect from romantic suspense - sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous action, strong friendships, painful pasts, mystery, evil actors, plot twists, imperfect characters, and even a few chuckles. The story was well written, the characters had depth and growth, and the storyline was engaging. I love this series. I willingly reviewed an early copy of this book.

Kimberly Kincaid once again burns up the pages with romance and suspense in The Rogue, book four in The Intelligence Unit series. This story features one of Remington’s finest, Detective Addison Hale and Station Seventeen firefighter Ryan Dempsey. After a one night stand, friends Ryan and Addison have entered an awkward phase in their relationship. That all changes when Ryan's little sister, Chloe, becomes the target of a deranged stalker and Addison is assigned the case. This stalker is the creepiest of villains. Ryan is impatient, impulsive and so charming. Addison is sweet, tough and definitely meticulous. They balance each other while clashing as the case, and their feelings, heat up. This is definitely a case full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end

Ms. Kincaid is an expert at writing heart-pounding suspense and steamy romance stories. Her characters are very realistic, she keeps the story interesting, making me forget the world around me and not letting me go until I turn the last page, wanting more. Ms. Kincaid kept this reader mesmerized with the need to see how Addison, Maxwell and the rest of the Intelligence Unit would stop Miles Bishop before he killed anyone else and if Addison and Ryan would find that happy ever after. I highly recommend The Rogue to other readers and can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Kimberly Kincaid is an absolute master of romantic suspense.

The Rogue is the fourth in her Intelligence Unit series, which shares the same universe as Station Seventeen and Remington Medical.

Addison Hale and Ryan Dempsey are friends, and Addison doesn’t do any entanglements, so when she agrees to indulge them in one night, she absolutely means that. But when Ryan’s sister Chloe is threatened by an insistent “suitor”, Addison doesn’t hesitate to step in and do her job.

Kimberly Kincaid perfectly balances Ryan and Addison’s growing connection with the amping tension of Chloe’s stalker. The procedural elements are sharp and well written, and all work in concert to keep readers’ hearts pounding and their pages turning. I rarely read suspense now but I will always read Ms Kincaid’s. The Rogue is exactly why.

All I can say is read this book!!

If you need more details, how about a sweet and sassy cop, a dirty talking fireman and the creepiest of villans? A case full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end?  It's all here and I loved it!

After a one night stand, friends Ryan and Addison have entered an awkward phase in their relationship. That all changes when Ryan's little sister is the target of a deranged stalker and Addison is assigned the case.

Ryan is brash and impulsive and so delightfully charming. Addison is sweet and tough and oh-so-methodical. They compliment each other even though they clash as the case (and their feelings!) heat up! Steamy and suspenseful,  The Rogue is one of my top reads this year.

Superb!! I could not put this book down!! The story that unfolds between Addison Hale and Ryan Dempsey is full of ups and downs, twists and turns with lots of sexy times to go along with it. There’s tension and romance and suspense that will keep you on your toes and make you feel like you’re right there in their world.

The Rogue was fast-paced and suspenseful, with a side of romance. I'd not read any of the previous books in this series and didn't suffer for it. I will, however, be reading them all because I need to know all their stories. :)

This installment revolves around Addison and Ryan. I enjoyed watching Addison and the Intelligence Unit work to keep Ryan's sister, Chloe, safe. It was like putting together a puzzle but having to hunt down all the pieces to do so. Getting to know Addison's team members was fun and has me determined to get better acquainted. I don't read much of this genre - a mashup of a police procedural and romantic suspense - and I enjoyed the investigation element. Each stage felt realistic and I liked getting to see how the team worked together. The addition of the romance blossoming between Addison and Ryan only enhanced my reading pleasure. Addison was set on not getting involved with Ryan but the two of them couldn't fight the pull. The development of their relationship felt very genuine.

My introduction to KKincaid was addicting. I can't wait to read more!

At first I wasn’t sure if I liked Addison. As I learned more about her history and her interactions with the people around her, I grew to like her.
This is a wonderful story. Addison and Ryan were perfect for each other, each giving the other something they needed. Ryan had a loving family who taught him how to love, and Addison had nothing like that, and was afraid to open up.
The case of Ryan’s sister’s stalker had some twists and turns that made it really exciting. Kimberly did a wonderful job making the guy so creepy. If you enjoy some mystery and suspense mixed with your romance, I would highly recommend “The Rogue.”

We're back with the series with Addison and Ryan's story. It's filled with twists and turns and suspense that kept me on my toes. But what I loved the most about their story is how Ryan is with Addison even though it was awkward at first after the night they had. These two couldn't b any more different but they complement each other. I loved their story.

THE ROGUE is the fourth instalment in Kimberly Kincaid’s contemporary adult THE INTELLIGENCE UNIT erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work as first responders for the Remington Fire and Police. This is firefighter Ryan Dempsey, and Detective Addison Hale’s story line. THE ROGUE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from three third person perspectives THE ROGUE follows in the months after a one-night stand between our leading couple. Firefighter Ryan Dempsey’s younger sister Chloe believes she is being stalked, and Ryan is taking no chances with his sister’s safety. A call to the RPD finds Ryan facing his one-night stand, Detective Addison Hale, the woman who ghosted our hero the next morning. As Addison and the RPD begin an investigation into the alleged stalking, things begin to take an ominous turn when the RPD struggles to close on the deal. Meanwhile, Ryan and Addison continue to dance around their sexual attraction, an attraction that is quickly turning into something more. What ensues is the building relationship between Addison and Ryan, and the potential fall-out as Chloe’s stalker takes aim at someone else.

Detective Addison Hale doesn’t do relationships; never stays over night; refuses to give anyone a second chance but the wall around Addison’s heart is slowly crumbling as Ryan Dempsey continues to break down her barriers, one brick and donut at a time. Ryan Dempsey has never forgotten about the one who got away but never expected to come face to face with Addison Hale when his sister’s life is threatened by a total stranger. Ryan doesn’t want to sit back and wait for something to happen, and in this, Ryan is about to place himself in the direct line of fire, in an effort to protect the sister he loves.

The relationship between Ryan and Addison is slow to burn as Addison walks away without looking back. Addison battles between head and heart having lived through a painful childhood and her parent’s brutal marriage, a marriage and brutality that has scarred Addison’s heart to her own happily ever after. Ryan Dempsey is determined to prove that Addison is worthy of love, as he slowly seduces our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic, without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have met in previous instalments. We are introduced to Ryan’s sisters Chloe and Grace, as well as Addison’s sole source of support Master Ah-lam.

THE ROGUE is a story of obsession and delusion, family and friendships, revelations and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is provocative and hot; the characters are passionate and intense.

Kimberly Kincaid is back with a new Intelligence Unit novel and hold on for dear life because this one is a roller-coaster that will have you glued to the pages as the story sucks you in and leaves you wondering what will happen next in both the suspense and romance storylines.

I’ve been a fan of this series since the beginning and we finally get to learn more about one of my favourite characters in Addison Hale and it was so worth the wait.

I loved this story from beginning to end and may have put it down and picked it up so read it again as soon as I was done. I didn’t even try to resist the pull.

When you give the heroine Addison a hero like Ryan, who eats risk as a firefighter for breakfast, what could go wrong? These two steamed up the pages, kept me on edge with suspense and made my heart melt as they got to know the real Addison and Ryan that most don’t get to see while chasing a bad guy that seriously made my skin crawl even when he wasn’t on the page. Well played Kincaid, well played.

This book is a must read for fans of this author's writing and romantic suspense readers. You will be sorry if you miss it.

The Rogue by Kimberly Kincaid
A stalker, suspense, and romance all on Remington PD’s watch

In typical Kincaid fashion, this is an intense story weaved with sexual chemistry, suspense, fear, and danger.

The stalker has targeted a firefighters sister, and the cop first on scene just happens to be the one night stand whom ghosted firefighter Ryan Dempsey more than 2 months prior. Detective Addison Hale, now on the case is only concerned with calming Chloe Dempsey and ensuring her safety.

The stalker is savvy and cunning, and he does his best to fly under the radar as a generic worker bee, but Addison can see through his smarminess immediately and is determined to nail him.

The full investigation reveals long buried secrets hidden by digital currency and fake IDs and details how dangerous the stalker really is.

I loved the chemistry between Addison and Ryan. I loved the older brother and older sister protectiveness of Ryan and Grace towards Chloe. The Dempsey are a close knit family and it’s well written into the story.

If you want suspense, steam, and a happy ending, grab a copy now.

Ryan and Addison finally take the chance on a one-night-stand and vow to make it “not awkward”…yep…good luck with that, right??? LOL

However, when firefighter Ryan Dempsey’s sister is the victim of a potential stalker, would detective Addison Hale be the best one for the case?

This book was fantastic! I have read dozens of romantic suspense books over the years, and this one definitely stood out for me! It was intense, hot, amazing characters, plus…I love the backstory (we first met these two main characters in author Kimberly Kincaid’s previous books and series!).

I am enjoying the heck out of this Intelligence Unit series! This is book 4 in the series, and each “could” be read as a standalone, however…just start from the beginning and read them in order! You’re welcome! 5 creepy-stalker stars!

Another fantastic Remington Intelligence book. Addison Hale, detective and Ryan Dempsey, firefighter had a one night stand a couple months ago and since they're friends and have mutual friends they agreed at the time to not make it awkward between them and their friends. Now two months later, Addison takes a stalker call. When she gets there, Ryan opens the door and things are awkward. It's Ryan's sister, Chloe, who is being stalked. Ryan has a very strong protective side and wants to get this stalker and take care of him. Addison tries to hide her attraction to Ryan since she doesn't want a relationship and never does anything more than a one night with anyone but feels that she could do more with Ryan. Ryan also has feelings for Addison but wants to tear down Addison's walls. Chloe's stalker, Myles Bishop, doesn't have any other complaints against him so Addison and the Intelligence unit try to find more information about him. Myles seems to be an average guy but the more they try to find out about him, they find nothing. This book has everything from romance to suspense. Will Addison and the team find Myles before he harms Chloe? Will Addison and Ryan admit their feelings for each other? I really like this series and how the police and the firefighters consider each other family. Kimberly Kincaid writes great books and I really couldn't put this one down. I'm looking forward to the next book hinted at the end of this one. I received an advanced copy to read early and review. I'm leaving my honest review.

The author once again has created a hot, suspenseful romance that keeps you on your toes. Detective Addison Hale leads the Remington Intelligence unit’s investigation into the man stalking firefighter Ryan Dempsey’s sister. Their past one night stand has left him wanting more from the detective. While he’s not known for his patience, he realizes that to protect his sister, he needs to play by the rules. Detective Addison discovers throughout the course of the investigation that she needs to let go of her troubling past to be able to move forward.
Fans of the Station Seventeen and Remington Medical series will be pleased to revisit some familiar faces. And even though this is the fourth book in the Intelligence Unit series it can be read as a standalone.

I love the Remington PD series and the Rogue is another of those great stories that blends edge of your seat police investigation with hot yet sweet romance to produce a story that's got something for everybody. This time the sister of one of the fire department's regulars is being stalked, and when it's one of the extended RPD/RFD family who's in jeopardy it becomes deeply personal for the whole team.
Another great read from Kimberly Kincaid.

I have really enjoyed this series. But boy was this the most intense book so far! Ryan is a firefighter and loves his family more than anything. When his sister is scared to death because someone is stalking her he will do anything to keep her safe. Addison is a Detective and is good at her job. When she gets called to help Ryan’s sister she is willing to go above and beyond to help her. Turns out Addison and Ryan have some major tension and chemistry and acted on that tension once….once! Can these two try this relationship thing for real? This was a extremely intense read with some nail bitting moments. I loved the background stories for Ryan and Addison and how much they really needed each other. This story had so many great details and handled some sensitive issues very well. This is a well written series and I always look forward to seeing what this author comes up with next.

So good!! You won’t want to put the book down!! After Addison Hale & Ryan Dempsey hook up and she ghosts him, she’s called in on the stalking case of his sister Chloe. It’s awkward at first between them but they work it out while Addison & the rest of the Intelligence Unit work on the case. There’s action, suspense, romance, humor, friendship, family, loyalty, a wonderful couple & characters. Ryan is my new favorite in this series! I definitely recommend this book & series!! Thanks to author for arc for an honest review.

Detective Addison Hale doesn't let anyone get past her walls after a horrific childhood. Then she has a one night stand with firefighter Ryan Dempsey and stays the night. She leaves while he is still asleep and avoids him until his sister is followed by a stalker two months later. Addison catches Ryan's call to the unit and she can see how terrified Chloe is and she is determined to catch the stalker. The investigation puts Addison back in close contact with Ryan and the attraction is still there.

This book takes a close look at how a sophisticated stalker can work and what Addison's team had to do to stop him.

I really liked Addison and what how she managed to recover from her past. I loved the spider story - a bit like the lady who swallowed a fly.

A great read.

Kimberly Kincaid did it again. Just when I think I’ve read her best book, she goes above and beyond and writes one even better. Detective Addison Hale and firefighter Ryan Dempsey have scorching hot chemistry but can the chemistry last while Hale works to keep Dempsey’s sister safe from a psychotic stalker?
This book is edge of your seat romantic suspense at its finest!

My first in this series & I loved this book! The story unfolds realistically, looping you in gradually as the suspense builds. It's a slow-burn romance, and boy when they finally get together, is it hot. KK expertly weaves the line between romance and suspense. Couldn't put it down. Strongly recommend!

'The Rogue' is actually a follow up to a very brief stint that tells of the one-nighter both Addison Hale and Ryan Dempsey had a few months ago, until she ghosted him the morning after--where their second-chance sort of comes after a Ryan's sister encounters a psychotic and very, very dangerous stalker.

The case itself is a simple but slippery one: the perp in question is slick and sly, knows the right words to say and how to shield his identity, throw the whole case of characters for a loop as they try to build a case against him. Proximity to the case and each other means that Ryan/Addison can once again get close...and see where this might lead them the second time around.

I liked Ryan and Addison as individual characters and even thought they were capable and pretty well-rounded as protagonists. Kimberly Kincaid definitely threw some role reversal into the mix here with the opposites-attracting kind of vibe: Ryan being the impulsive, emotive one, while Addison was the commitment-phobe who needed to learn to let people who cared past those walls of hers.

Yet as a pairing, I struggled to see the chemistry together or gotten the sense that they needed each other past this case, even if their relationship was certainly written as distant-friends first, then a sudden lust that turned to love which I had a little harder bit of a time believing perhaps. In fact, I kept on reading because of the suspense--while not trying to be weird about it--but the case took my interest first, followed by a relationship that I thought was lukewarm at best. It's not in any way a slight to Kincaid's writing clearly, but just wasn't feeling too much for this particular pairing.

This was so good and filled with my reading candy! It has two first responders as H/h, both guardian protector types and tight family -friend relationships. I happened to have some time in my ARC reading schedule and saw her ARC available so I jumped. I've been collecting Kimberly's bo0ks for years and finally found time to read one! This did not disappoint. It's set in Remington so we see friends from her previous series'. I really enjoyed the banter and her fresh author voice in this book.

Intelligence Detective Addison Hale keeps to her self. She has no family or social life, her precinct mates are family and work is her life. She has a positive outlook and refuses to give into the darkness of her past. Truthfully her outlook on life is a lot like mine, right down to her love of all things that glitter! She found a safe haven with her Tae Kwon Do Master Ah-lam, adopting the tenants into her life. When she and her partner Shawn Maxwell are called out on a potential stalking call they meet Chloe Ferguson and her adopted brother Ryan Dempsey. Because of her past she's sensitive to Chloe's fear and takes the call seriously.

Ryan Dempsey is a firefighter at Station 17. and a risk taker He is one of five adopted children of Lou and Charlene Dempsey. They are a tight knit supportive family. Chloe is the youngest and came into their family at 15 very traumatized. The whole family is very protective of her. When she calls in a panic Ryan comes to help taking the situation in hand calling the police. Ryan and Addison know each other because Precinct 33 and Station 17 frequently socialize. It is quickly determined Chloe has a very careful stalker. As much as Addison tries to keep "Daredevil" Ryan out of the investigation he is too much a protector to stay hands off. As they keep Chloe safe, their relationship deepens an things get dangerous.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Rogue by Kimberly Kincaid is a fling to forever cop/firefighter suspense romance and book four of The Intelligence Unit series. This is the first book I have read by Kimberly Kincaid and this story can be standalone. There were a few minor details at the beginning of the book where I was confused, but understood the majority of the book and what was happening.
Detective Addison Hale doesn’t do commitment and has one night stand with firefighter Ryan Dempsey. Addison was able avoid Ryan until Ryan’s sister has a stalker and Addison is on the case.
This book is a good balance of suspense and romance. There is a good amount of spice. I appreciate that the investigation and steps taken to building the case were realistic. I also liked parts of the story were told as the stalker’s point of view which added creepiness and suspense. I just wish Addison and Ryan had more of an emotional connection. Addison and Ryan had a great physical connection, but I didn’t feel they needed each other beyond a physical connection. This is an entertaining book with exciting suspense. I recommend this book and looking forward to the next book of the series.

This was a gripping and suspenseful book, but with a surprising amount of humor thrown in. This is the first book I've read in this series, and while there are a lot of names to keep straight, I didn't feel as if I missed anything in the story by not reading the first few books in the series (although now I will be going back to read those!!).

This story follows a budding relationship with Ryan (a firefighter) and Addison (who works in the Intelligence Unit). They are thrown together when Ryan's sister believes she is being stalked and Addison works on the case.

I really loved how this story was crafted. Ms. Kincaid does not take any shortcuts in laying out the difficult legal battle involved in stalking cases. As an attorney, I really appreciated the realism of the step-by-step process Addison followed with the investigation along with the realism of Ryan's desire to beat the crap out of the guy stalking his sister. The ending to this one had a nice, albeit not totally expected, twist. All in all, kept me engaged all the way through!

The Rogue by Kimberly Kincaid is the fourth book in the Intelligence Unit series and I must say this book tops the list for one of the best in the series. This story features one of Remington’s finest, Detective Addison Hale and Station Seventeen firefighter Ryan Dempsey, they were just amazing together. I loved their chemistry and the way they just clicked. Addison is a kickass, sassy Intelligence Officer with a sad past. Ryan comes from a loving adopted family who will do anything to protect his loved ones. Ryan's little sister, Chloe, becomes the target of a deranged stalker and Addison is assigned the case. Ryan is not known for his patience, he realizes that to protect his sister, he needs to play by the rules and allows Addison to take charge of the case. Kimberly Kincaid has done a wonderfully well in moulding the characters and spinning a story full of suspense. If you’re looking for a second chance suspense filled book this is for you.

Thank you so much Kimberly Kincaid for the e-ARC for honest opinion

There's a few things that I search for when picking up a book. First a good romantic suspense. Second if it is a part of a series even better. When I discovered the Intelligence Unit series as well as the Station 17 series a few years ago I found the perfect escape! As the members of the Intelligence Unit have found love while solving crimes the last woman standing is Addison Hale and she likes it that way. She loves her job, her partners and has no desire to ever commit to a relationship. Enter firefighter Ryan Dempsey. He has had his eye on Addison for a long time when he finally makes his move. Now it has been a few months after their magical night and Ryan's sister Chloe is in trouble and detectives Hale and Maxwell are assigned to her case. On the surface it doesn't appear to be much but Addison is determined to solve Chloe's stalker case and keep her budding feelings for Ryan at bay. As we all know the heart wants what the heart wants and these two hearts want each other. I loved watching Addison try to fight the inevitable and Ryan was just great at breaking down her walls. Addison and Ryan are very relatable characters and the rest of the supporting characters are great too. The Rogue was written from dual POV and was funny, suspenseful, had plenty of heat and kept me reading long into the night. I am looking forward to more stories from Ms. Kincaid and the fictional Remington PD.
