Destiny isn't a thing in her world. Smooth-talking strangers need not apply...
Navy Veteran Caleb Hardy is determined to atone for past mistakes by helping the old woman whose letters got him through his last deployment. When he and his band of brothers drop into her quirky, dying Texas town, only one thing stands in the way of his redemption.
Superstition Springs native Havana Nixon is convinced letting a big developer into their tiny Texas oasis is the only way to save the town and she’s not about to let a newcomer—no matter how gorgeous—derail her plans. Especially after her aunt tosses out one of her famous “love predictions” matching her with Caleb, also known as the most disturbing man on the planet.
Havana and Caleb can’t even compromise, let alone admit they’re falling for each other…or does one lead to the other?
Small town military heroes—all swoon, no steam
Welcome to Superstition Springs, the place where destiny is the ultimate matchmaker. All you have to do is believe.
USA Today bestselling author Kat Cantrell read her first Harlequin novel in third grade and has been scribbling in notebooks since she learned to spell. What else would she write but romance?
When she's not writing about characters on the journey to happily ever after, she can be found at a taekwondo tournament, watching Big Bang Theory or dancing with her kids to Duran Duran and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Kat, her husband and their two boys live in North Texas. She was the first Harlequin So You Think You Can Write winner and a former RWA® Golden Heart® finalist for best unpublished series contemporary manuscript.
Those dreaded words 'clean and wholesome romance'.
Five former Navy SEALs come to the small town of Superstition Springs in search of the woman, Serenity Force, who wrote to them, five complete strangers, during their deployment. They find a small, down-at-heel town that has seen better days, at war with itself over a planned new development which would require razing the town. Leading the redevelopment plans? Former resident Havana Nixon, their penpal's eldest niece. The leader of the SEALs, Caleb Hardy, is instantly attracted to the prickly redhead, pity she has a fiancé. But as the sparks fly will Serenity's predictions for Caleb and Havana come true?
I'm giving this the benefit of the doubt as the start of a new series, I didn't really understand Havana's angst or motivations, she seemed a bit emo TBH. Caleb was the stereotypical SEAL with a burden of gullt, a double burden as he holds himself responsible for a mission gone wrong AND the injuries his brother suffered.
Overall, I could have done with less of Havana's personal angst (which made no sense) and more plot. Although there is no cliffhanger there is definitely a feeling of this book being part one. Clearly each of the five SEALs will find love with a local woman and settle down in the town, how long it will take to rebuild the town is anyone's guess.

3 stars for this book. 10 stars for amazing hero!
Quote: “You’ve never been with a real man, I see. Otherwise, you’d understand that i’m not talking about staking a claim. If you were mine, i’d be by your side always, reminding you how beautiful i think you are. Telling you what things a admire about you, holding your hand because i could never get enough of touching you and that’s the only publicly approved way to do it. Basically i’d be doing whatever it took so you never wanted to look at another man as long as you live”. You like it, huh? This HERO, sigh... I loved him soo much!! He was an ex-seal. Most the books about them we get a picture of a horny men, they just drill everything that moves... This one though... He was an amazing, faithful man. He didnt go “sample” another women after the heroine said she was engaged. I would give this book 5 stars if: 1) There were some steamy scenes, this one is clean romance. 2) There was not too much inner ramblings, i hate it in books.. 3) The heroine was more strong, more sure of herself.
This is the first book I've read by Kat Cantrell. I love a story with a good narrative hook. This book has one of the best I've read in a while. I really enjoyed this book. Caleb is a great character who, while having made mistakes, is worth looking up to. Havana is tough, while being vulnerable at the same time. Mix these characteristics with the setting of a funky, offbeat, small town makes the book even better. I'm really looking forward to reading the next one.

********************************************************************** Sooo cute and charming!! I really like both of the main leads, and they had great chemistry. However, my favorite part was all the side characters. All of them interesting, unique, and quirky (in the most delightful way, of course). They all utterly charming me. Can't wait to read what happens next to these people!
Liked all the quirky characters, how ever the plot was lengthy with no end in site as it leaves you with a cliff hanger of sorts.... which you will find out more with in the next novel i suspect. Do not expect heat between the sheets or out of them, this is not what i would call a heated romance, more a tame one. So it failed to meet my expectations with regards to romance, if only it had a little heat!
Blurb: When a SEAL comes home, it takes the right woman to heal his scars.
After being kicked out of the Navy, ex-SEAL Caleb Hardy needs a new mission, and rebuilding a struggling Texas mining town into a tourist destination is it. If he’s successful, Superstition Springs will become a new home for his band of world-weary teammates—and hopefully a place to atone for the horrific mistake they'd made in the line of duty. Mission parameters: within six months, make the town profitable before it gets razed and turned into a shopping center.
Urban planner Havana Nixon has other plans for the quirky dot on the map. She fled Superstition Springs eight years ago, desperate to escape her childhood poverty and the town that she never could quite call “home”. Now she’s back, determined to help the townspeople—and earn herself a lofty job in the process. All she has to do is convince the folks to sell their land for a fair price to the developer eyeing the town’s prime location. Everyone wins, right? Except she didn't count on an infuriating and gorgeous obstacle named Caleb Hardy.
Add in a love prediction dispensed by Havana’s quirky aunt and nothing goes as expected, least of all a head-to-head between two people with opposing plans who spark every time they’re together. If they could just unbend long enough to compromise, Caleb and Havana might figure out they both want the same thing—forever.
This book was surprisingly clean and ridiculously adorable. I loved the adorable banter and you can't beat the "meet cute" these two have, wrestling a pig for a bag of Doritos? I mean, can you deal? lol
Caleb and his SEAL buddies don't have much in the way of family so they developed a surrogate mom relationship with the woman that writes to them during their deployments, Serenity Nixon. After their release from the Navy, and learning about Serenity's trouble, they rush to Superstition Springs to help the save the beloved town. To say the town is quirky is an understatement but the guys find that the weird little place suits them better than any other place ever has, in fact, it feels a lot like home.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this new to me author but this is a cute, clean book. The heat level is very mild but it's an adorable read full of heart!
Set in an old mining town called Superstition Springs, the story revolves around two people; Havana Nixon and Caleb Hardy, each having different missions with same objective – to rebuild Superstition Springs to its new glory and who craves for a place to call home.
These two characters are the polar opposites of each other. Caleb Hardy is the leader of his team. He is brave, caring, and responsible man. Everyone relied on him despite they have just known him. He is well-respected by his teammates and even by the townsfolk, even when he is considered new and an outsider in Superstition Springs. He is a very likable character because of his cool nature and understanding mind. The backstory of his life and guilt he carried after his last mission makes me sympathized.
Havana Nixon, however, is a stubborn and determined woman who is passionate of her job. She has a closed-off personality, judgmental, and insecure of herself. Despite being raised in the town, Havana often felt like an outsider. She is hard-headed in her ways that she could not see it wasn't the town that made her felt like an outcast but she herself, or at least that was what I think. Her overwhelming stubbornness from the very start made it hard for me to connect with her. Thankfully she did redeem herself by the end.
Another thing that I like about this story is the brotherhood bond between Caleb and his teammates. It was heart-warming to see their close-knitted bond and the way they did not give up on each other after what had happened in their last mission. Instead they shouldered it and provide support for one another.
Kat Cantrell had done great job in developing the personalities of her characters especially Havana’s. The dialogues were never awkward and I find it easy to sympathize with their background stories. The well-written plot, realistic setting, and added with superstition about love made this a perfect romance read. I enjoyed reading this book despite being unable to connect with Havana. There are several questions left unanswered, but perhaps was stored for the next stories in the series.

Ex- Navy SEAL Caleb Hardy and his four team members feel guilty for the events of their last mission. Serenity Force, was the only thing keeping them going while in Syria. A stranger who wrote to each of them and became a mother figure for them. Now Serenity needs their help. Her small town of Superstition Springs is at risk and the ‘boys’ want to help with Caleb leading the charge.
Havana Nixon is determined to secure a deal to develop a shopping centre where the dilapidated town is. She has returned to her former home hoping to succeed but with her own aunt against her how can she succeed.
This is a clean romance where two broken souls find themselves unable to resist each other. I found this to be an ok read. The premise is good, but the story just didn’t grip me like I had hoped. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. For more reviews please visit my blog: http://www.wonderfullyweird88.com/
They both need a project; Caleb needs a town to fix to redeem himself for the horrific accident he feels responsible for as a Navy SEAL, Havana lives to fix everyone and everything so she doesn't have to fix herself. I absolutely loved this book!
Caleb and his mighty group of misfits, all discharged Navy SEAL's, enter the tiny, quiet town of Superstition Springs determined to find their pen pal Serenity Force and help her save her town. As redemption for a nightmare they deeply feel responsible for, the men want to help the woman that helped them get through the most trying and horrific time in their lives. Maybe if they can save Superstition Springs they will finally start to put the horrors of war behind them.
But it is Serenity's controlling and determined niece that catches Caleb's eye, and her fiance that has him backing off. Yet the sparks that fly between the two cannot be ignored.
Havana Nixon is back home after eight years to save her crumbling home town by building a resort nearby which means a mall will go in right in the middle of town, destroying all the town folks small businesses. Yet she is determined to prove to the town that this will fix all their problems. If they will just see reason. However, their is a group of strangers in town that are equally determined to stop her. And the leader of the pack is a gorgeous hunk of ex SEAL man she can't get out of her mind. How will she prove to the town that she is there to help them improve things while a complete stranger is trying to derail her plans?
A Lot Like Home is the first book in Kat Cantrell’s new series: SEALS of Superstition Springs. I love to read books about fictional towns and this one didn’t disappoint. I always enjoy reading a book, or maybe a series, about SEALs that need to find themselves after serving in war and what a way to bring them to Superstition Springs but via their pen pal, Serenity Force. Enter Havana and Caleb who are at opposite sides of the spectrum when dealing with the rebuilding of the town. Will they agree on a plan and find their happily ever after? A Lot Like Home is a sweet, clean read. I can’t wait to see where Ms. Cantrell takes the series. I received an advanced copy which I voluntarily read. This is my true and honest review.

I really liked Caleb and his buddies as they try to start a new life after leaving the SEALS. They were pen pals with Serenity who wrote to each of the guys and those letters were their life lines during their deployment.
While I liked Caleb, I had a harder time liking Havana and understanding her need to be in control and that control made her so bossy that she really annoyed people.
What didn't make sense to me was that Serenity could be so nice to men she had never met but she was pretty nasty to her niece who was her family. Yeah, she may not like what Havana has planned but she should still love her.
It looks like parts of the book were a set up for future books like when Cassidy doesn't fall at Tristan's feet when he flirts with her or when Aria keeps imagining her life with Tristan so you know that won't work out!
This was an unique read set in a fictional town named Superstition Springs. The town itself was a big part of the story. Ex Navy Seal Caleb and his weary band of misfts come to town to meet their penpal Serenity. Her letters got them all thru the darkest and most trying times as Navy Seals. Serenity's last letter to Caleb let him know that her town was in trouble. The trouble the town is in is courtesy of none other than her niece Havana, a home town girl that left Superstition Springs and has returned trying to change the town. Caleb is running from a mistake in the Seals that got him and his crew kicked out. Havana is running from everything. The two butt heads in the most exciting ways over their ideas for the future of the town. This book is the first in a series: SEALs of Superstition Springs. I am looking forward to the next book!!
A Lot Like home is a magical read that you can't help but fall in love with. I mean how can you not when a band of ex-Seals swoop in and begin to save a small town that is on the verge of being taken over by the big company. Being led to Superstition Springs by pen pale Serenity, these 5 man are here to help. And boy do they. Caleb steels your heart when his plan comes about. You can't help but hope that he gets Havana (Serenity's niece) to see that erasing the town and building new is not the way to go. This sweet read leaves you wanting to see each of the Seal men find what they are looking for. I love the slow build between Caleb and Havana. There is something just so magical about Superstition Springs. A fantastic read.
I really liked this book. At the beggining I wasn't feeling it but then it started to pick up and I really enjoyed it. Caleb was a good man, he waited for her to be ready, knowing at the same time that he did what he could and he showed what he felt, more he couldn't do. Havana tried not to fall for him but couldn't help it. She was the one that ultimately needed to make the final push and she did. I liked this couple, they were good together and I can't wait to read more of the others
This is my first book by Kat Cantrell. I enjoyed this book and found the story-line so endearing. Five Navy Seal set out to meet their pen pale and supporter after returning from combat. They each need to heal but also want to give back. Moving to the rundown town of Superstition Springs gives them the perfect opportunity.
This is a story about two people struggling to find their way in life. Havana is a control freak and Caleb wants to atone for a tragedy that happened in Syria he feels is his fault. They both arrive in Superstition Springs with plans to save the town but in vastly different ways. They realize they need to work together and discover that they love each other.
Sooo cute and charming!! I really like both of the main leads, and they had great chemistry. However, my favorite part was all the side characters. All of them interesting, unique, and quirky (in the most delightful way, of course). They all utterly charming me. Can't wait to read what happens next to these people!
Superstition Springs is a cute little town but it is about to disappear! Caleb and Havana have a beautiful and destined love story! Can not wait for all the Seals to meet their destiny!

Fun start to a new series. This is going to be interesting to see what happens when these SEALs jump into fixing up this quirky “almost” town of Superstition Springs. Caleb and Havana are up first. Awesome meet-cute! Had fun learning about these two people on opposite sides. Glad they came together to get the town headed in the right direction.
2.5☆ What I liked: The characters Part of a series: SEALs of Superstition Springs Standalone HEA Epilogue
I had a hard time staying interested in this book. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from NetGalley.
A Lot Like Home is a well written romance. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. The author is new to me and I look forward to reading more of her books. I highly recommend this book.
I borrowed A Lot Like Home from the Kindle Unlimited program.
Caleb Hardy and his team were involuntarily given an honorable discharge from the Navy and were looking for a place for five ex-SEALs to find as a new home. They had been writing to an older woman from Superstition Springs, Texas and she told them the town needed help. As soon as they were free they drove from California to Texas to surprise Serenity.
Caleb was elected the new mayor and with the help of Havana Nixon, his team and the town they made a plan to make over Superstition Springs. The story is full of humor with pig chasing for a bag of chips. It is full of romance with the two main character's working through emotional problems from their pasts and a group of quirky characters full of fun and the unexpected.
First time have read a book from this author. I really enjoyed reading it. The characters were great. Caleb and Havana was good together. I recommend this book.

This is the first book I've read by Kat Cantrell. I absolutely loved it. Loved the writing and the plot; the characters were complex, endearing and so loveable. I think the secondary - side -characters stole the show for me. They were unique, funny, charming, quirky and I loved their camaraderie. I can’t wait for their stories.
I loved that both characters were flawed, complex and vulnerable. Even though Caleb made mistakes, he was a great character who was seeking redemption and he is someone worth looking up to in my opinion. Havana is tough, opinionated but also vulnerable. They both have some kind of baggage from their past. The chemistry was intense and sizzling. It was kind of a slow burn romance but I liked when they finally wanted to give them a chance and explore what’s between them.
Caleb and his buddies don’t have family – they only have each other and rely on each other. So I loved when they developed a surrogate mother relationship with the woman who writes to them during their deployments, Serenity Nixon. Their relationship is just beautiful to witness. Also Caleb’s buddies are just amazing side characters. I can’t wait to get to know them.
Kat Cantrell had done great job in developing the characters. The story was well written and well developed. I like the added superstition story which made this book more interesting and a great romance read. The setting was realistic which I liked. The dialogues were never boring and I loved funny and thoughtful/serious side of it. This is going to be a wonderful series and I cannot wait to get to know more about side characters and to see how this town will be brought to life.
Wow!!! Kat does a superb job with this story. It’s guaranteed to keep you wanting more and more!!!
Caleb is suffering and trying to find his place in this world after being forced out of the seals, him and his team are just kinda drifting with no direction until he decides he needs to help serenity. H never expected that the whole team would follow.
Havana left years ago knowing she left her sisters behind to let serenity to finish raising them. Always feeling incompetent and incomplete decides to come back after a horrible break up. She decide she’s going to help out serenity springs back to it’s glo days.
Emotionally riveting and tear jerker. Couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to read about the rest of the team.
