Tom E. Moffatt writes humorous stories and jokes for kids, but if you spotted him walking around town you wouldn’t know it. To the untrained eye, he looks like a normal 40-something father of three young girls. You know … with a glittery school bag slung over his shoulder and nail polish on his fingers.
An excellent book to read, not just for kids but also for the entire family. I initially made the mistake of reading chapter after chapter continuously. However, once I started taking one chapter a day, I enjoyed it a whole lot more.
The jokes range in quality. Some are laugh-out-loud, while others are perfect dad jokes. Some make you giggle, and a few even went over my head (but I’m sure they are funny to someone).
I do particularly love how the author gives us little insights into his joke writing process. A lovely gift for children and an ideal book for a chuckle before bedtime.

This book seriously lives up to it's name. The jokes are arranged beautifully in categories, some traditional and some out-of-the box i.e jokes that are not jokes, the punchline is removed and replaced with a serious statement. I work with children that are struggling to connect with longer texts but these Tom.e. Moffat jokes and the friendly page arrangement, not too cluttered, with fun illustrations and add-ins make the text highly motivating to encourage both reading, speaking and even memorising to share with friends and family. There is a category to appeal to many interests and draw them in to reading, taking the hard yakka out. The puns are classic and yet new and original too. Being a teacher and a writer and based in our own country as well as the fabulous interactive web-page he has created, Tom e Moffat is a resourceful, entertaining and creative communicator. Putting his texts into a variety of tangible and digital forms, he has created accessible resources which will entertain the whole family, while enlarging their vocabulary and understanding of the world. Thank you Tom!
I love a good joke. From the innocent kind to the morbid, if it makes me laugh, I will take it. As this book is tailored for kids, it was very interesting for me. There were plenty of puns (which I also love!) that had me laughing or shaking my head because it was, literally, a dad joke. But what really intrigued me was the fact that this book can help children realize that reading is fun once they see how game-changing expanding on their vocabulary is. The creativity that is sometimes needed to use innuendos and puns is astonishing, and something to be praised. I loved this book, and will most definitely be reading it with my children once they are a bit older. I would recommend this book to anyone!
For someone who is looking for a motivational book to get their children to enjoy reading, this is a great place to start. The jokes are appropriate for all age levels and are enjoyable for anyone who likes to laugh. This was a great book for my ten-year-old son who loves a good laugh but was also a great way to start a conversation with us and give us an opportunity to share a good laugh together. The author clearly has a good sense of humor and shares these in hopes of promoting laugher all around. The jokes are all fun and friendly and appropriate for younger readers while still being comical for those more mature readers. The illustrations are just an added bonus for enjoyment!
I'm Seriously Joking: 500+ Seriously Funny Jokes for Kids (I'm Joking) by Tom E. Moffatt is a wonderful addition to his joke books. This book is fun, silly, and fascinating to read. The cornier the joke, the more we love them in our family. This book gives us new material to try on each other, with different themes that you don't see often. I really liked the chapter on fairy tales. You don't see them often. At the beginning of each chapter, Tom gives his thoughts on what you will find. The author succeeded to bring more laughter into our home and smiles on our faces as we recited his jokes. My favorite was the limericks, but I also enjoyed the last chapter when the author included some of his reader's favorites. Overall, I had fun reading this book to my kids and exchanging jokes, thanks.
This is a middle length book with jokes for kids but I would say that it can be for all the family. Author Tom Moffatt created a book with more than five hundred jokes for kids. It is a perfect gift because we are fomenting reading and we are also giving something so that they have a lot of fun.
The kids in my family loved this book. They enjoyed every joke and as they are short, they can read many of them during the day.
I would recommend reading and gifting this book because it is really funny.
I believe it is really positive that we immerse kids in the reading habit and this book is just the right excuse. I’m seriously joking is a book that contains lots of jokes, even more than 500, written by author Moffatt. I bought this book for my little nephew who is 9 and is trying to read everything he can, so I took the chance and gave him this. He found it hilarious, what he liked the most were the drawings that accompany the jokes. We spent quality time as family while we listened to the jokes he wanted to read to us. I would certainly recommend this book!
If you are looking for a book that will leave you rolling, this is the book for you. My kids loved memorizing the jokes and telling them to their friends. They also, like the author, found themselves making up their own jokes. I highly recommend this book, and it’s great for all ages.

“I'm Seriously Joking” by author Tom E. Moffatt is the second book in the series and a great jokes book for kids. Although it is a long-length read, the short jokes (two lines, literally) make it easy and fast reading, and it is inviting for children to keep enjoying and laughing.
This is a valuable tool to introduce the younger on reading and having fun, but also to develop their language and incorporate vocabulary; which I think can be really useful to many parents and educators nowadays.
It is beautifully illustrated and well organized in categories, so children can easily play and share the jokes.
All in all, it is a highly recommended edition. Anyone who enjoy gags will be delighted with it.
A few months ago, it was my cousin's birthday and I didn't know what to give him, until this book was recommended to me. I think it was one of the best gifts I have ever made. "I'm Seriously Joking: 500+ Seriously Funny Jokes for Kids" is a book where we find original jokes full of puns for the whole family, written by Tom E. Moffatt. Not only are the jokes funny, but the illustrations are also very good. The whole family enjoyed this book, because although it was a gift for my cousin, all the family had a fun and quality time. Without doubt, I recommend this funny and entertaining book.
