The Tears Are Real

My heart.... 💔

4.5 stars - Another great addition! This installment to the series is full of revelations, love, tenderness, life lessons, and heartbreak. There is also evil lurking.

Having experienced what Charlotte is going through... I don't want to give anything away but I can relate. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in future books as it can easily go several ways.

As expected, Klempner gets himself into a situation or two. It's almost comical how he lands himself in these scenarios. His need to protect those he cares for overwhelms him, it seems, and he just can't stop his compulsion to do something.

Cara adds some fun to the mix. Even her freak outs are cute and funny. 🐣🐥🍳

I'm looking forward to the next book! Fingers crossed that it comes soon! 😁

FYI - this isn't a series you should read without starting at the beginning. While many of the characters have been around for years, across multiple series, you should at least start with the first book in this series, The Lover's Children, and know that Charlotte, James (Master; father to Georgie and Cara), and Michael (Golden Lover) are in a committed triad that sometimes plays with another couple - Beth and Richard. Things get fun and messy on occasion. 🔥💜🎉 I'm voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

Ms. Leigh is clearly doing what the Universe intends for her to do. I’ve read most of her many books, and I am never disappointed with her stories or her writing. I come away from each book filled with all the emotions she evokes through the tales she weaves for us, and I’m usually eager to immediately pick the book back up and re-read it. April’s Tears was no different. I think almost every major character in the Mastering the Virgin series was present in this new book. One or two of those were brief cameo appearances, but the remainder brought us completely up to date on what has been happening in their world. No, I won’t spoil any of the story, but you’ll be captivated by the love and support shared among these family members; and the tears, their fears, their laughter; and the incredible passion too. These folks are like old friends to me! I love reading about them! And I find it amazing how skillfully the author can weave each thread into the overall narrative, maintaining the consistency of the story, and of the series, and keeping her characters true to their personalities—like a master-weaver working at her loom! I cannot wait for the next book. But, of course, I will do so patiently.

This is an author I never hesitate to pick up. Her books are well written and her use of details make her story engaging and realistic. You are pulled into the story by the characters from the beginning. This book is no different. I was pulled into the story by the characters who kept the story engaging and entertaining. They brought the story to life on each page. Not only are they relateable but also hot and steamy, great characters. There is a suspense compoent to this story as well. The twists and turns kept me turning pages as well as had me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the chemistry as well as their growth throughout the story. This is a great story that I highly recommend. One of my favorites by this author yet.

I love Simone Leigh's stories. This book, which is best read after reading the first two stories in 'The Lover's Children' books is exciting, sad, and steamy, as all of Simone's stories are. There is a serial killer on the loose and everyone is worried about them. Klempner is still causing worry on his own as well. I really enjoyed how all the characters stick together and really care about each other. The story is mainly about Georgie and her relationship with Borje. The story and all the characters in it had me enthralled the entire read. The ending was a bit of a cliff hanger so now I am eagerly anticipating the release of the next story to find out what happens. Definitely a recommended read!

Again, Simone Leigh has given us another great read as well as a to be continued! When people care for each other it doesn’t matter if they are blood related, they are Family. This hodgepodge of genuine people prove again and again what Family truly means. Klempner, oops Lars, being himself gets into a bit of trouble that causes ripples through the household but that then gets him a chance to pay back a debt. While trying to make the house kid friendly, Michael sets out on a project that’s A Secret. As funny and ❤️ warming as it turns out to be a very large lesson is quickly learned by all. Can’t wait for Solstice so we can get some answers.

So many different perspectives in this story! Having read some of the previous novels in this series, I was able to piece together the characters and their significance/connection. With Georgie and Borje as the focal point, it was interesting watching the rest of the story suspense unfold around them. I was also really engaged in all of the family connections and how together they were trying to find answers. Of course things would end with the looming threat making a move! Already looking forward to seeing how the final scenes unfold in the next novel.

A killer stalks the streets while our various characters try to maintain a quiet life. They are not always successful in that endeavor.

This is book three of this story arc. There is a lot that has come before this arc and characters and events from the past make frequent appearances. This arc does okay as a standalone, but your experience will be much more complete if you start way back at the beginning.

This overall series has a lot of intrigue, mystery and action as well as BDSM, although that does not play a role in this particular book. Both the story and the characters are well written and solidly developed making for an easy and enjoyable read. This series has also developed into one with lots of mystery and intrigue and it is coming back to the fore once again. We also get our share of steamy scenes amid the chaos as one would expect from this author. Overall, another enjoyable book in the series and I am eager to see what comes next.

Highly recommended.

What can I say but author Simone Leigh does it again. It's been a while since I had read her series of books but after picking up this title it was like I was returning to old friends and once again following their adventures and yes, they are extremely entertaining ones at that. I feel the character of Charlotte/Jenny's father Larry Klempner has really become the silent hero of these more recent titles in the Lover's Children series and we are seeing a truly entertaining aspect of his character. There were a few humourous moments involving Larry which I found nicely balanced out things. The other thing is its nice seeing how the children Cara and Adam are infusing much needed light and humour to the storyline.

I love this series and think this is a really well thought out book.

I really enjoyed it but can see if you are new to the series that it is really not an adhoc book to pick up or the starting point for you ( check out buying the virgin or bought by the billionaire box sets first!)

Without giving away any spoilers this book develops the relationship between Borje and Georgie, includes some family drama for the Triad ( is that still an applicable description for the extended family now ? ), whilst linking in a serial killer story line . Very well done and left with a cliff hanger and wanting more ! I can’t wait for Solstice and hope Simone is working her socks off!

Riveting read. 5*
I just love Simone’s writing style, it is so descriptive, it feels as though you’re watching it on film. Her use of English, her vocabulary, her phrases are so apt that the reader is transported into the story. This story ends on a cliff-hanger as well, although this episode comes to a surprisingly sudden halt. There is plenty of steam and a lot of drama from more than one source. The author had demonstrated that she isn’t only able to write a captivating plot in the genre of erotic literature but is a very talented thriller writer as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend not just this episode but the entire saga.

This is not really a stand-alone book; it is best read as part of "The Lovers' Children" boxset. Here we have a familiar set of characters moving forward from the previous stories. The story this time is a bit more ominous. There is a serial killer on the loose. Some are still worried about Klempner and his activities, including watching over Georgie as her romance develops. There is a sad turn for our original Triad. But love and genuine concern for each other is still the main motivation in this spellbinding world. Simone Leigh creates a world and people we care about and want to see have their best life. It ends in a cliff-hanger.

This is the continuing story of Michael, James and Charlotte as well as now Richard and Beth, their children and now Larry Klempner and Mitch, who is Charlotte's mother...Larry who was a man of action has been feeling vaguely useless since almost getting killed in South America. He's back to normal, but looking for something to occupy his mind. Seeing James' daughter Georgie dating Borje and their seemingly no-where romance, he thinks Borje hiding something, but Larry had seen suspicious person watching police activities...since wasn't Borje when confronted him, was it the killer??? and will he help Will Stanton and police find the killer who now has another victim he is stalking....I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Whew!! This one is a bit emotionally charged, to say the least. There's no way to give even a slight synopsis of this story. Just like the blurb suggests, there are questions concerning Borje and his interest in Georgie. Whether or not those have been answered or not still has the jury out in my mind. There are joys and sadness, in 'April's Tears'. There is also insecurity, determination, and of course, the love that has grown not only within the Triad but with the extended family and children. Now the presence of evil is becoming predominant and we're left to wonder who and why? This is a thrilling storyline that ends in a cliffhanger but anyone who's read my reviews knows that I will patiently wait for Ms. Leigh to release the next one and devour it as quickly as possible.

Part 3 - Intrigue, romance and more as this story continues

April's Tears is the third book in The Lover's Children series which is really the continuing story of Charlotte, James and Michael and all of the extended family that surrounds them. There is an overarching story-line that flows through each book, building on the last and this book is more of that then centering on one couple. This story is filled with drama, danger, suspense, intrigue, romance, adventure, romance, love and a whole lot of white hot passion. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens next.

Another great addition to this series. Klempner sees Borje at the scene of the latest murder and wonders about his connection. Borje is also interested in Georgie, James' oldest daughter, but Klempner thinks the relationship is odd. Charlotte is happily pregnant with Michael's baby. Mitch loves Klempner deeply but worries about his past catching up with him. The children generally keep the household in minor chaos. At the same time a serial rapist/murderer is stalking prostitutes, raping, and mutilating their bodies. His crimes are escalating in degree and the police have few if any leads. And as always, fabulous love scenes. Great book. Love Ms Leigh's writing!

Simone made me cry -- twice

Like all of Simone's works this piece was well-written and tightly plotted. It is among her best ever story parts.

She pulled my tears twice. First with Charlotte's tragic shattering, which might have similarly impacted any reader involved with the virgin's story from the start.

The second time was with the absolutely unexpected CLIFF HANGER. The Lover's Children appeared on Amazon as a three-part collection, clearly leading this reader to expect to be buying the complete novel. I shall have to avoid such an occurrence in the future, perhaps by careful reading of reviews before pulling the purchase trigger.

This book follows the story of the serial killer. Klempner plays sleuth for a little while and gets arrested for his trouble. Fortunately, he definitely has an alibi - the family was with him while the crime occurred.

Charlotte’s constant intransigence it’s getting old. It’s happening more and more in each book. It seems as if she needs James in the role of a parent more than a Dom as she acts like a spoiled child. I found her character quite frustrating in this book. Hopefully, with everything she’s gone through in her life, you’d think she’d eventually grow up.

This story has what’s happening with James, Michael and Charlotte along with their friends and family. You get to see what’s happening with them and that Larry is feeling out of sorts. He starts looking into the serial killer and trying to figure out who it is before another killing can happen. He also looks into a man that is seeing James older daughter as he looks for the killer and even looks at the police department.

Prepare for an emotional roller coaster ride!
Simone excels at keeping me on the edge with Charlotte and her expanded family’s happenings. I love how Larry learns to protect his own, while his past is never far from the present, and how Mitch talks to Larry to help Stanton catch the serial killer. The trio experiences an unexpected upset that had me in tears. I was rooting for Borje to take the next step with Georgie and was more surprised by his conversation with James. All the while I fear the outcome as the serial killer tracks his next victim. I need Solstice ASAP!

We learn more about how Larry thinks (he fascinates me, for some reason!) as he works to fit into the family he's been accepted into. To my surprise, my earlier opinion of Borje -- formed in the days following Charlotte's auction -- is greatly revised as we watch him take Georgie in hand and even James is schooled by him on his daughter's needs and fears. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

While I love these books, this part was a little underwhelming. The characters were all there, all the right personalities and attitudes, the story was moving along, albeit, slowly, but there just wasn't the amount of action or steamy scenes I am use to seeing in this series. I hope the next installment lives up to my expectations, because this one fell short.

April's Tears. This book is full of suspense with a serial killer on the loose. Klempner can't wait for the authorities to do something. He feels the need to help. Georgie is such a complicated character for me. My heart breaks for her and her inability to think before she opens her mouth. You want her to have a happy ending, but I cannot picture that with her having no filter for her mouth.
I love the women in this family for their close bond and for having children so close to each other. I enjoy reading about the antics the women and children get into.

This is another wonderful book by Simone Leigh. This is a continuation of the Charlotte and other characters. Will they find the serial killer? Is the killer Borge? This is a great cast of characters and the action is always wonderful, and the added bonus of BDSM added into the mix. This series is wonderful and I am engaged with all the characters.

Wow! What a great addition to this series, this instalment moved me to tears - be warned. The storyline continues to develop, the author gives us so many revelations as well as evoking so many emotions there were life lessons too! I enjoyed the love and tenderness, but hurt when I read the heartbreak My heart.... 💔. But Beware there is evil lurking.

I love Michael and James and wonder where the author will take us next, especially after the cliffhanger she left us with.
