3.5 stars!
I'd wanted to read this ever since I saw this was a monster reverse harem romance! I jumped on the RH train a few months ago and haven’t looked back. This was my first time reading this author and her writing was.. okay. She probably could’ve used another editor and less exclamation points but those things at least didn’t ruin the story for me.

No Means No
Spoilers
No means no. Just because you make a girl wet, does not make it not rape. The monsters are rapists and kidnappers. Pure and simple. The MC says no, then goes along for the ride saying they know her better than she knows herself. Again, the MC said no to sex … and no to anal… and no to taking the large member, but she was ignored and forcefully pushed down. She said she wanted to go home. Again, ignored. She has no rights. No say. Nothing.
Not my type of monster book.

Literallt monsters under the bed smut, the heroine is terrified of them and moves across the world to escape them but 12 years later she has to go back home because her father is sick. She eventually is brought to their monster world - where the three monsters who haunted her at night claim her as their mate. Breeding kink galore with lots of monster anatomy

I was given an ARC of this book with no obligation to write a review, but I couldn't help but give my honest review as I really loved this book!
Alexis grew up knowing there were monsters under her bed. At first, she was afraid of the shadowy bogeymen, but she soon came to trust them and they eventually became her friends. Then, when she turned 18, there was an incident that caused her to leave home and run away from her monsters. Now, 12 years later, she's home again and her monsters aren't lett ...more

Well, this was an experience I will not forget anytime soon. Nor will I be forgetting the character art included in the beginning--which will remain fully burned into my retinas forever.
This follows Alexis, a young photographer who left home after an incident involving some demons and the disappearance of her best friend. Alexis has always had nightmares, and those nightmares often included the appearance of three spooky demons that come out from beneath her bed, and are only visible in the dark ...more

This book contains dub-con and non-con and the author doesn't give a trigger warning. In fact it's passed off in the book as if it's consentual even though the MC says no multiple times. DNF at 60%.
I'm not sure if the author doesn't think it's non-con because they think that the MC's body being turned on over rides verbal non-consent. I hope not, because thats a very destructive message to pass on. There have been studies done where they measured the physical signs of arousal and compared them t ...more

So I went into this book expecting something a little different, I mean a monster reverse harem... I expected this to be steamy.... but it was more of a lukewarm slow burn. I expected a lot of monsters but instead I got a lot of human backstory and flashbacks back and forth as to why the FMC won't go home anymore. And... when I finally get to big reveal as to why she has stayed away for 12 years, it was a little underwhelmin ...more

Based on the marketing, synopsis, and cover of this book I thought I was in for a quick, short, and monstrously steamy erotica. Instead, I got like 2 sex scenes and a basic defeat the evil lord trope paired up with a writing style that wasn't enough to pull me into the unwanted plot.

Story 3*, but I Added a Star for the Artwork
IT STARTED OFF SO GOOD! I fell in love with the idea that the monsters under her bed wanted her for reasons other than to fill their scare meters (haha). That the boogeymen had even followed her to another country, really showed their determination to keep tabs on her.
After a general setup though, the story felt super rushed. I wouldn’t have minded the spicy scenes to last a bit longer, and I wished there had been more character development. It seemed ...more

What do you do when the monsters under your bed are actually real? In Alexis’s case you run. She’s spent the last fifteen years trying to forget the trio of sinful bogeymen who hid in the shadows of her room, and from the night that truly turned them into her worst nightmare. Forced to return home when she learns her father is deathly ill, Alexis must face her demons—literally and figuratively.

First of all shout out to those wonderful visuals/illustrations of *ahem* certain scenes! 👏👌 was not expecting that but totally made my day even though I had to sneakily look just so my kids didn’t catch me. Don’t worry they’re toddlers but still! Can’t even imagine if I was caught by my husband 😂

Will review once the next book releases!

Did I read this within a few hours of having it delivered to my Kindle? Definitely. It did not disappoint. Per the author note in the beginning, you might think that you’re getting bangxiety but you aren’t. The author actually gives us a story, background, and world building… And then what I’m sure you wanted. Worth it.

This book was overhyped imo. Feel like I was promised dirty monster smessy times all over the place but was greatly disappointed with not much...understand there was the preface in the beginning promising it but with story. But honestly, if I'm reading this genre, I'm looking for smessy with some story sprinkled in not story with some smessy sprinkled in.
Hopefully this is rectified in book 2...but I'm not holding my breath at this point. ...more

When I saw this book I was so here for it! I'm digging the monster vibes that are going around the RH community right now. This book was so much more than just monster smut though - there was a solid plot throughout, but some hot AF sexy time too.
Don't expect to get to the goods too early in this story, there's a lot of groundwork and setup that MJ has to lay to make sure the reader is thoroughly entrenched in the world. The dynamics of the monster world are so interesting and I can't wait to le ...more

I really wanted to like this. I tried so hard to keep going, but it just didn't ever get to the point where I wanted to keep reading. I made it 78% through, so my review is based on that portion.
It felt very forced. The flow was really off. I know it's about monsters, but this book should really have warnings for "dubious consent". In my opinion it's just rape. The storyline just couldn't keep me interested to make up for it. I'm actually really sad it didn't click for me. ...more

A new trend is popping up in the book world, monster romance. I thought I knew what a monster romance would be like but MJ Marstens has shown me that I was not prepared. Monsters Under My Bed is the first book in her Bogeyman series. It's a multiple point-of-view monster romance that has a fmc who is in deep denial and a little bit of a hot mess, some monsters that are determined to make her theirs, and a world that may be even more dangerous than her men. There was a touch of mystery and very

This is my first read by MJ and I am completely smitten. I haven’t really read any monster themed RHs and this totally caught my attention.

I Give this Book a 3.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 3.
Wanted to jump into this book as soon as it came out.
This is definitely a book that needs to be read a few more times to better get the picture of how everything goes, and maybe catch more details that didn’t click yet the first few times.
While this is a pretty decent read, I was having trouble keeping focus on it, some areas read a bit faster than I would’ve liked. But all in all I definitely wanna keep reading this type o ...more

This was a surprising book to dive into. I expected monsters, 'interesting' body parts and twisted chemistry. Well, I got all that, but also a fab plot, detailed world building, characters that just grabbed me, suspense - and yes, steamy romance ;P Everything came together in an engaging way and I can't wait for the next book to see how their story continues :D
