this book was short like very fucking short. it was so boring like i thought this was gonna be some good, crazy smut but it was legit… boring asf

So more information has come out regarding this author and yeah. No. I don’t think I’ll be reading anything else by Dana Isaly. But if you want to, go ahead. But be aware that what you’re reading may have original source material elsewhere, even if it’s not in written form.
And some people who have sided with DI are saying that Eros’ trauma isn’t valid - fuck those people. If your goal was to alienate friends and readers, 👏🏻 hats off to you. It worked.
Jaclyn and E are the real victims here and morally and ethically what has been done is wrong. It may or may not hold up in a court but this author won’t be getting any more of my money. I’m sad I can’t get it back already.

i have recently found out that this author has plagiarised the works and ideas of voEROS (on tiktok) and other women in his community, and also used his childhood trauma in her book. therefore, i will not be reading and supporting any of her works anymore and i’ll be taking back my ratings for this book.

I’m sick to my stomach knowing what I know now. This book makes me feel icky now, sexualizing others without their consent is disgusting. Profiting off it? Doing it for your own pleasure/gain? Horrific. Once again, I no longer support this author.

anyone who knows me KNOWS i am obsessed with gamer boys okay so i ate this book up!! it’s insane to me how short this was but it still managed to give all the characters so much personality and i feel in love with the friend group!! also the smut? amazing

TW for suicide
This was so much fun! I loved how he was a gamer and she was a reporter coming to do a story on him. Things get heated and they end up spending all night together. Their conversations were great (there was actually some depth to their conversations in such a short amount of pages) and I loved their chemistry! I do think it was weird that we got one random chapter from someone else's POV while they were at the club, and the ending seemed really rushed, but overall this was a really fun novella!

Now I like a good erotica story every now and then, but this one just didn't hit the spot like I had hoped. To be perfectly honest, it read like the script of a porn movie...but not a good one. The premise sounded so good and the cover was alluring, so of course I had to try it. Sadly it just didn't work for me.
Now I love BDSM and have read my fair share of it. But this one...was not it for me. The kink was all over the place. There's degradation kink, which has to be written really well for me to enjoy it, and it really wasn't pulled off well in this one for me. Jack kept referring to Quinlan as "dog" and well...yeah...no. There's spanking, some sirs and safe words thrown in, and a completely out of the place "daddy" that pops up once and that's it. Really, it kind of read all over the place. I don't expect a lot of plot in erotica, so that certainly didn't surprise me here. You get enough plot to set up the sex, which is fine by me. But the erotica just didn't click for me. There was some story that tried to be interwoven into it, but it didn't really fit. It should have been a longer novella for that. As it was, it just felt slapped in. The epilogue was just...strange. They literally go from o to 60 in less than 90 pages. I'm all for erotica and a HFN, so the epilogue just added a bit of cheese for me.
All in all, it was ok but certainly nothing I'd come back to or remember.

This is either going to really work for you, or really… not work for you. I’m definitely on the ‘not’ side. This book has been so hyped lately so when I saw it was available on audio I was here for it. Unfortunately, the whole story was just not my kind of read. I was expecting like, a darker Jessa Kane type of book, but it wasn’t that. I’m honestly not sure what this was. If it worked for you that’s awesome and I’m not here to tell anyone not to read it, but yeah… no. Not for me.
Side note about the audio: The narrator was fantastic but the actual quality of the audiobook wasn’t great, especially at the beginning.

Told mostly in single POV, 1st person, it’s the first installment in the "One Night" series and can be read as a standalone. This was my first read by this author and unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. This is no character development and a good storyline. It couldn’t even entertain me. All in all, it was a disappointment, but I hope you enjoy it more than me!

Update: This author stole the narrator’s experience as a victim of SA and used it as a plot for her book.I’m disgusted.
MENTION OF SUICIDE ATTEMPT WITH BASICALLY NO CONTENT!
Other than that this was just smut with a bunch of role play and bdsm elements for sock factor and some unnecessary drama.
However the guy who narrated the audiobook has one of the hottest voices I’ve ever heard and he’s obviously really talented.You’re the real star of the show baby.

The writer mixed the sex scenes and didn't make it all about pet/master... But even with that, I imagined being her and going in a house to find that... picture me freaking out a little bit.
