Tammy McDoodle and her friends are dressed in their favorite costumes and so are Little Mouse and his best friend, Mr. Opus the cat, in this fun book which combines Halloween with straightforward yoga postures. "Before you go out to trick or treat," says Tammy's mom, "Let's do some Halloween yoga poses to keep calm." Your little ghosts and goblins will delight in simple, not-so-spooky Halloween yoga moves, such as witch, ghost, black cat, and jack-o-lantern poses. Children will get excited for Halloween while learning an easy way to stay calm and get healthy activity in this beautifully illustrated board book set to rhyme. ______________________________________

"Halloween Yoga uses breathing, mindfulness, and yoga poses to positively demonstrate examples of costumes that children can encounter along their trick or treat journey. If you have children who may be nervous about celebrating this annual tradition, then this new addition to the Little Mouse Adventures series is an excellent resource that can be used to prepare and encourage them for their own fun adventure!" -- Michelle El Khoury, PhD, Founder/Owner, Yogamazia
"Halloween Yoga is a real treat for children, parents, and yogis alike! Teresa Anne Power's sweet Halloween story combines engaging rhyming verse with technically accurate yoga poses to deftly introduce children to the concept of self-regulation in an age-appropriate and relatable way. Emma Allen's gorgeous, detailed illustrations are captivating… This book will be a treasured addition to any child's reading shelf." -- Zelinda Yañez, Yoga Instructor, YouTuber, and Founder of The Yoga Room
"Truly delightful! Such a creative and engaging story to introduce children to yoga. "Teresa Power has done it again! Halloween Yoga is such a sweet story about Tammy getting ready for Halloween through yoga. With the help of her mom, dad and friends they do a yoga sequence to move the body plus relax and calm the mind... As a kids' yoga teacher, it's wonderful to have amazing stories like this to share with my students. It allows me to incorporate yoga in a fun and engaging way. So thankful for this book!" -- Camelia (Mimi) Felton, Owner of Mimi's Yoga Kids
"Halloween is always so much fun but with all the decorations, sounds and distractions it can be overstimulating and overwhelming for young children. In this story, before the group even sets out to have a magical, mysterious fun night, they participate in some very calming (and spooky) themed yoga poses. The book itself is easy to read, fun to follow along with and to do the poses as you read it (we would stop and practice the poses and it did not take away from the story). The story has adorable illustrations that the whole family will love. Children will fall in love with the spooky and fun poses that they can incorporate into practice every day of the year (not just at Halloween)." - Working Mommy Journal

Are you looking for more fun and a healthy way to get your child or children to enjoy Halloween? Well, maybe this new book soon to be coming out will do the trick. “Halloween Yoga” is a sweet and cute addition to a book. It occurs during Halloween. It’s little mouse’s favorite time of year; What yoga pose will little mouse and his best friend learn from the McDowell family and friends.
I wonder what kind of Halloween yoga poses Tammy and her friends learn that are Halloween-related. Children will learn new poses but also enjoy this book as they read. This book shows how to stay calm before going trick or treating.
Can you child or children guess what the pose will be? This book continues to help children with different situations and the poses that change during each adventure. Children will learn that wellness and health will keep each child or children calm and enjoy their experience.
In each book in this series, Children learn different kinds of poses to do or enjoy. Little Mouse adventures are enjoyable to all to read—what an excellent book to add to your collection of books; or your yoga classrooms. Children can love reading about the little mouse and his best friend. Children can learn some not-so-spooky, and Halloween-themed yoga poses to try and stay calm.
This is a cute story about a girl, her friends and her parents doing yoga to relax as well as get strong before heading out to trick or treat. As well Little Mouse and his friend Mr. Opus, the cat, also join in. The poses are all well known but are given names that go with Halloween. Some are tree pose being crooked tree pose, downward dog becoming black cat pose and chair pose becoming witch pose. The back of the book shows all the poses with their spooky, Halloween names. I like that both parents participate and the kids are all happy as well. They do get to go out and do their trick or treating so everyone goes to bed happy. The text is written in a rhyming format, but there are times where the cadence is off. The illustrations are really cute and add to this book.
Extremely cute book! I loved the story, the detailed drawings, and of course the rhymes accompanying all of it. The tiny mice in costumes were simply adorable. If only kids were able to be this calm moments before trick or treating!
This is a super-cute picture book that would be perfect for a yoga-loving family. In the story, a little girl and her friends do some Halloween-themed poses before going out trick-or-treating, led by her mom and later joined by her dad. The text is rhyming couplets, and the color palette is warm with Halloween colors. It was fun to watch the little mouse and cat do the poses as well! Some yoga poses have been re-named for Halloween (and/or to be more kid friendly (like mummy instead of corpse pose), and some appear to have been created just for this book (like the witch pose). I love how the little mouse teaches HIS mouse family the poses after he returns home from trick-or-treating. Nothing in the words or images is particularly scary, making this book perfect for little ones who might be sensitive to scary pictures. This book could certainly be interactive, reading it and moving through the poses before going out trick-or-treating. A fun Halloween picture book for families who are into yoga!
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Little Mouse adventures books all have to do with yoga so if you don't know that going into this you may be surprised. While not really a Halloween book, this story teaches kids how to do simple yoga poses with Halloween names (mummy, scary tree, black cat, etc). It rhymes really nicely and the pictures are beautifully done. If you're just looking for a Halloween book I would pass on this, but if you are looking for an interactive book with a Halloween theme to do with your kids than this is perfect!
A perfect treat for Halloween season. My kids enjoy doing yoga so combining yoga with a cute and fun Halloween story was just perfect. They took to following along with the yoga posses really well, the story itself was really great and the rhyming always make it really enjoyable. The illustrations were also really great! My kids and I really enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend this to others!
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Just like hiding vegetables in your kids food, this book cleverly introduces exercise and yoga in a fun way by encouraging the little ones to copy Little Mouse and his friend Mr. Opus the cat as they try out some fun yoga poses before going out trick or treating.
Excellent illustrations and nice rhyming couplets make this a great book for kids
My kids and I really enjoyed this book! I love yoga and reading. Reading to my kids while they tried to do these poses and listened very well was a great experience! My children range from 17 months to 10 years old and they all love Halloween and especially enjoyed tying in yoga poses for a fun story!
This is a wonderful book to add to your classroom or home Halloween picture book collection. This story offers a creative alternative to spooky and scary-- YOGA. The illustrations are fun and engaging. If you wanted to be awesome how about instead of giving out candy this Halloween give out BOOKS! This book would be a fun BOOK or TREAT gift! :)
Absolutely delightful. Granddaughter loved it. The illustrations are colorful and wonderful. Detail is spot on and consistent--except it would have been nice to know why Mr. didn't accompany LM. Will be reading more of Ms. Power's creations. Have a good read ... your mind and family will thank you.
Written by Teresa Anne Power, Halloween Yoga is a cute children’s book with charming illustrations by Emma Allen. It offers easy yoga poses for beginners, with a timely Halloween story.
I’m looking forward to giving this to my twin granddaughters who came home from the hospital 2 years ago on Halloween. I also can see their older sister (who has attended online yoga classes) leading them in the poses.
