Alaska Skies: Brides for Brothers / The Marriage Risk / Daddy's Little Helper

Rate this book

Hard Luck, Alaska – a town that needs women!

Location: north of the Arctic Circle. Population: 150 (mostly men!). But the O'Halloran brothers, who run a bush–plane charter service called Midnight Sons, are heading a campaign to bring women to town.

Brides for Brothers

Sawyer O'Halloran, the middle brother, isn't entirely in favour of this scheme. But he considers himself immune to any woman – even the lovely Abbey Sutherland. She's arriving in Alaska within days. However, there's a complication…or two. She hasn't told them she's arriving with kids!

The Marriage Risk

Like his brothers, Charles O'Halloran has a distrust of marriage in general – and of anyone related to Catherine Harmon Fletcher in particular. She's the woman who tried to destroy his parents' marriage. Too bad Lanni Caldwell, the only woman he's ever really fallen for, is Catherine's granddaughter…

Daddy's Little Helper

Mitch Harris is a friend of the O'Hallorans, and he's responsible for law and order in Hard Luck. He's also the widowed father of a little girl – although he never talks about his marriage. But it's not long before seven–year–old Chrissie decides that her new teacher, Bethany Ross, is the perfect candidate for wife and mum!

The plots are good, but sometimes the dialogue doesn't quite flow correctly. I miss Alaska every single day, so I loved reading about other people living there.

It was good but the dialogue was a little unrealistic at times. It was also pretty much the same story for both parts of the book so I found myself not reaching for it or being excited to pick it up. I didn’t have a bad time reading it. Not bad but not a five star for sure.

We have a lot of patrons that read Macomber, and I wanted to to get a grasp on her writing style to help my readers advisory! Personally, I find them slightly cheesy, and filled with the perfect amount of romance for a romance novel. I chose this series because I like books set in Alaska (personal preference).

Volume 1 ( of 3)of a fun romantic story centered around the O'Halloran brothers ( Charles, Sawyer, and Christian) who live in Hard Luck, Alaska where they run a bush-plane charter service called Midnight Sons. Sawyer and Christian decide that they need more women in town to keep their pilots from leaving. They pursue this idea offering jobs, housing, and land to prospective women.
To the brothers surprise, they also find love with this idea but it isn't as easy as expected.
In this volume, there are two stories: Brides for Brothers focuses on brother Sawyer. The Marriage Risk involves Charles.
As always, the author is fun to read with lots of twists and turns. This is a happy book. I am looking forward to Volume 2...

I still love Debbie Macomber's stories. they are sweet, heartwarming stories of finding and sometimes fighting for love. This one is the first in the Midnight Son's Alaskan stories. I read the second one first, but I still love the series! A shipping company in Alaska who kind of tricks women to move to Hard Luck Alaska to keep its pilots happy, sounds horrid, but the stories are sweet and it isn't like it sounds. Good read!

Sweet story. Kind of like a modern mail-order bride idea, only the girls don’t know it. I liked the entwining family saga. It kept it interesting.

The small town of Hard Luck, Alaska decides it needs to recruit women to keep the pilots happy. A few pilots fall hard in the first 2 books of this series.
