Walking down the street and watching people go about their day-to-day life, but thinking strange, even dangerous things.
I still clearly remember the day I stood at the traffic lights in downtown Melbourne. There she was, sitting in her car, waiting for the lights to change green. Tapping her fingers impatiently.
Something inside my head went off. Kaboom! An idea formed, and became the beginning of a novel.
Instead of sitting patiently at the lights, she was nervous, extremely anxious as she was being pursued by killers. The next thing she knew, an angry, crazy man was slamming her windscreen with a sledgehammer and she was running for her life.
A quick and fun read, Sarah’s Surrender immersed me in the sights, sounds, and smells of the old west. Author Cheryl Wright does a great job of using internal and external dialogue to create complex characters. Luke Carson, the male protagonist is wonderful. I loved watching him stumble and fumble his way through his growing feelings for Sarah who he married for convenience. And I enjoyed watching Sarah bloom under the respect of Luke and his workers after having such a difficult life under her uncle. Twists and turns kept me turning pages, and the happily-ever-after was the perfect ending.
Sarah's Surrender is Cheryl Wright’s contribution to the Westward Home and Hearts Mail Order Brides series. It is exactly what I would expect from her stories. Though it just under ninety pages, it is full of heartbreak, perseverance, and love. I loved Sarah right from the start. I admired her determination and strength. Luke is just what she needs. I liked the mild suspense included in the story and was hoping for Sarah’s happiness in the end. I loved it!
Sarah's Surrender is getting a very well deserved from me. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading heartwarming historical romance novellas. I would love to read more from the Westward Home and Hearts Mail Order Brides series.
I received a digital copy of Sarah's Surrender from Cheryl Wright but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
The author has penned a sweet and heartwarming story of two people, each who is seeking a change in their life. This is Sarah Gleason and Luke Carson's story and the character development is excellent. Sarah who was kidnapped by a childhood acquaintance, but then rescued by the sheriff, decides to head west as a MOB. Luke is a successful rancher who is basically looking for a cook, housekeeper and woman to provide him an heir, and wants only a marriage of convenience. Will their marriage grow into a HEA? Will Luke be able to protect Sarah when danger stalks them? Be sure to read this wonderful story to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
This s a sweet and loving mail order bride story written by Cheryl Wright. She as packed the pages with adventure, excitement and some mystery too. Luke is a well to do rancher and sends for a bride, although he really just wants a cook and housekeeper. When Sarah steps from the stage he his smacked with the realization of her beauty and shortly realizes she is sweet and caring too. Love comes quickly to these two, but danger comes just a quickly. An old admirer of Sarah’s has come to make her his no matter that she does not feel the same. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
Sarah had grown up with Jarrod Black, but after her mother died, her father turned to alcohol. Jarrod became his drinking buddy. Now Sarah’s father has died and Jarrod has become dangerous in his pursuit of her. She resorts to becoming a mail order bride to a man who basically wants a cook, housekeeper and a woman to give him heirs. Not ideal, but an escape.
Luke never intended to lose his heart to his bride, but he doesn’t even hardly make it home with her before he does. Can Luke keep his beautiful bride safe from this drunken maniac?
Okay, so Sarah and Luke's story is basically the perfect recipe for a delicious romance novel. You've got your drama, your villainous shenanigans, and your romance that's equal parts sweet and sizzling. And let's not forget Wright's genius move of making the bad guy a major player from the very start, which adds an extra layer of tension and excitement to the story. It's a total page-turner, with a lovely, clean, and wonderful romance that'll leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Definitely a must-read!
Sarah may be mentally strong and physically used to working the ranch, but grief, verbal abuse, physical threats and a kidnapping have left her a terrified shell of herself. Running is her only option, but Luke accepts her with open arms and his love, affection and care have Sarah growing in confidence and once again blossoming. A beautiful romance showing love can grow from adversity. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
I loved this mail-order bride story about Sarah and Luke. Sarah has decided to become a mail-order bride after she is kidnapped by a drunk that wants to marry her. Even though Luke doesn't want a real marriage, when Sarah's stalker shows up at the ranch he'll do anything to make sure she's safe. A sweet story that has great characters and a great plot, filled with mystery, suspense and of course, a HEA.
Great characters. I really enjoyed the plot. Very engaging and has you on the edge of your seat as to what might happen next. The romance was sweet and you could feel how comfortable the relationship was. This was a great read and would highly recommend it. Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I loved this story by Cheryl Wright. An exciting storyline, honest reasons for marrying, for Luke a cook, housekeeper and heir, for Sarah, protection from a stalker/disgruntled suitor, danger, mystery and a twist or two. I found myself drawn into Sarah’s fear. Be prepared to being unable to stop reading.
A truly enjoyable read. I liked Sarah's spunk and determination. The story takes us from a dire situation to a truly blessed outcome in the end. A lovely story. Leaves you feeling good.
After being harassed and kidnapped by a childhood friend, Sarah has no choice but to run. She thinks she has found a safe place with Luke until he escapes prison.
Sarah's life was made miserable by a drunken father and his drinking buddy. A chance for happiness comes with becoming a mail order bride. Well written!
