I was really surprised by how well these little books were written. Jack Sparrow's character is captured fairly perfectly, and the stories are fun, imaginitive and engaging. They're short and quick, but I enjoyed them all, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series (this boxed set includes only books 1-4, which follow Jack and his friends in their search for the sword of Cortes).

My son enjoys reading these. I think they are a good alternative to watching the PG-13 movies. There seem to be a good number of books in this series.
