Ready for a fresh start, Iris Colby leaves behind her big city job and heads to her family’s lakeside sanctuary. She’s looking for a change, but fate has something else in mind—newly-single parent Eric Johnson and two kids looking for a miracle. How can she resist stepping in to help, even if it means life is about to get very complicated…

"Small town, big family, and mismatches that will steal your heart! Delightful!" Roxanne St. Claire, New York Times bestselling author of the Dogfather Series.

More on Hart Land Lakeside Inn:

Come and stay in one of the quaint and cozy cottages at Hart Land—but be warned, once you meet the family and delightful cast of characters, you may never want to leave.

Fiona Hart is the devoted matriarch. Elegant, wise, and arts patron, but despite all her efforts, she has yet to find her own artistic outlet. Lucy isn’t just a housekeeper, she’s part of the family. She also fancies herself a real life Dolly Levy, except she’s much better at cooking up trouble than the perfect match. Innkeeper and retired general Harold Hart believes in hard work, discipline, and whatever his beloved wife wants. Katie O’Leary runs the One Stop, makes the best Irish soda bread this side of the Blarney Stone, and no one is quite sure if it’s more than her baking that has the magic touch. Did we mention the Harts have nine granddaughters?

Having grown up spending summers together on the lake, the cousins are as close as sisters—closer. Each woman knows there’s no place like Hart Land. They can always count on their grandfather’s gruff, their grandmother’s sage advise, Lucy’s fresh baked cookies, Katie’s inspiration, the calming scent of fresh air—and each other.

Follow along with friends, family, neighbors, and guests as the Harts maneuver life’s curves, and just maybe find love along the way.

As a Special Bonus IRIS includes a treat from Lily's Recipe Box!

A native New Yorker, Chris Keniston was on her way to Australia when she fell in love with North Texas. Little did she know the balmy seventy-degree October days would turn into fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk heat in August!

Twenty years later, she started scribbling short stories about her favorite TV shows, giving them lives more to her liking - and the elusive happy ending. Not long after, a dear friend dragged her to a local writers’ meeting. After winning multiple writing contests and making the finals in the Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart contest, she now spends her days, and nights, writing contemporary romantic fiction with lots of emotion, plenty of surprises, and, of course, the happily ever after.

Chris lives in suburban Dallas with her husband, two human children, and two canine children. Though she loves her puppies equally, she admits being especially attached to her German Shepherd rescue named Gunny. After all, even dogs deserve a happily ever after.

So many personalities, yet so much heart. Keniston uses her words to make hearts smile and minds think. Iris is a sugary story of broken hearts, fresh starts and open arms. After tragedy points three lives in a whole new direction, love steps in to heal what heartache broke. Irish is the fourth novel in what has turn out to be a breath of fresh air. Keniston takes hearts out of their comfort zone and brings them back into the real word.

Iris; Hart Land: Book 4 is by Chris Keniston. Chris outdoes herself for this book. It is adventureous, suspenseful, and romantic.
Iris was home from India and she was definitely glad. The family she was nanny for was uninvolved with their children except to spoil them and give them whatever they wanted plus extra money. Iris quit when they came back from India. The couple she worked for here at Lawford Lake was not as bad as the family from India; but they began taking advantage of her good nature and that encouraged the kids to do the same. Iris was thinking of getting out of the business and not have children to care or.
Eric had come to the resort because his sister had already made the arrangements and he wanted the kids to have something familiar. His sister and her husband had been killed in an ski accident in Europe. The kids were delivered to him with a criptic message- to keep them from her in-laws. Etic loved his niece and nephew but he need to find a stopping place where he cold think for a minute. He was completely at a loss of what to do with the kids. He eventually had to go back to work but didn’t want to leave the kids.
Iris was unable to just let Eric go with the kids, she had to help him; but keep her emotions in check and not get too attached to the kids or their uncle.

Iris is the perfect example of the wonderful romance novels that Chris Keniston has brought us through four fantastic series. I love the way Ms. Keniston brings real life challenges into the world of Hart Land and into the lives of the General’s family, creating sweet romance at its best. It amazes me that Ms. Keniston can keep creating such diverse characters and still manages to meld them into the wonderful world of Hart Land.

I can’t imagine being a live-in home-school teacher much less a nanny, but it appears that, until the last few years, Iris has loved her job. We have seen signs that she is not happy in her employment in the earlier books and it is easy to understand her dissatisfaction in working with entitled teens, so the fact that she is ready to quit makes sense.

It is all too easy to identify with Eric’s numbness as he deals with the unfamiliar task of caring for two lost children while the three of them are coping with the shock of sudden loss. Her need to begin the search for new employment doesn’t compare with their need for support as they learn to live in a new reality. Hart Land is the perfect place for these lost souls to take the first steps towards healing. The journey ahead will be long and hard, but it will be so much more bearable traveled with the love, warmth, and fun offered by the whole community of Lawson.

I requested and received an ARC of the novel, Iris, but I have also ordered a personal copy for my library. This is one of those series that I have to own because it owns me.

I love the Hart House and all the wonderful family. I would love to visit! Iris is back at the Hart House after getting frustrated being a nanny to spoiled, rich, teenage kids. She meets Eric there that is so out of his element. He now is the guardian of his young niece and nephew. What does a bachelor know about children? I felt so bad for the two children as I can’t begin to imagine how they felt. I loved watching Iris help Eric with the children, and show him he had good instincts with kids. The people that live at the Hart House and come to visit have such wonderful times. It was so heartwarming watching Eric and the children grow to love each other. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

I’m a sucker for the sudden father trope. Eric’s sister died and he gets the kids. Iris and the other Harts help them. Likeable characters and a heartwarming story.

Iris by Chris Keniston is the fourth book in a brand new series Hart Land. The series is based on the small town of Lawford (in NH) with the General (Harold Hart) and his wife, Fiona. They have nine single granddaughters who one by one will find their own love. Lucy the housekeeper is bound and determined to be matching them all up, but she is an accident waiting to happen. The General and Fiona run a small hospitality business with cabins, with their house full of people and laughter.

Iris is a nanny. She has followed her families to different places with their children, but she has had enough. Lately the teenagers are treating her poorly, like the parents. So she is done, but what will she do next. For now she is at the lake with her family, helping out how she can. Feeling at loose ends is not a normal feeling for her.

Eric’s sister and brother-in-law suddenly died and he is in charge of two children. He knows less than nothing about children and those two in particular. The only thing he knows to do is to follow through with the vacation their parents had planned. Eric and the children show up at the lake, while he figures out what is next. He has a dangerous job where he is gone for a week at a time and now he has two children who are grieving and he is just over his head. Luckily all the Harts are there to help out.

Iris by Chris Keniston is a sweet love story about family and staying connected to what is important. The small town feel is universal, as is the cast of local characters. I really connected with this story as Eric with Iris’s help tries to move forward. Iris is a quick read for someone who is looking for a little sweet love story.

If you’ve ever worked as a nanny, or even at a daycare, you know that watching someone else’s children can rapidly burn you out. You deal with all of the problems &, usually, can’t be the solution. This is the life Iris has been experiencing. She’s been a nanny to the spoiled & bored children of a well to do
Couple. The couple are busy & don’t have time for their kids. Iris knew it was time for a break or she’d never want her own someday.

Eric is in shock. His sister & husband are gone & he’s the only one left to raise his niece & nephew. Unsure of what to do, he decided to follow through on the vacation his sister had booked before the accident. It was a familiar place to the kids but not as full of memories as home. It would give him time to figure out the near future. When Eric proved that he was lost, Iris stepped up to help.

I enjoyed the character dynamics in this story. The small town characters seem to grow more realistic in every story. They are the same people you’d see in any “small town USA”. The interactions between the cousins is exactly the way it was in our family growing up. You could bicker among each other but the minute someone from outside started in, watch out! They’d defend each other forever. This was a very emotional story from the beginning & the kids grabbed your hearts & didn’t let go. Their grief, fear & bewilderment seeps through the pages to lodge in your throat. I’m not ashamed to say I shed a few tears over them. This is an extremely heart warming, emotional story that everyone should read.

Another great book

I thoroughly enjoyed this edition in the series The characters are wonderful well thought out, people you can totally relate to. A really good story with lots of laughs and I shed a tear also (big softie I am). This is an excellent series I think it's tied with book 2 for my favorite! But I really liked everyone of them

This is one of the best series I've ever read.  I loved Iris and Eric's story. The General and grandma Fiona have the sweetest granddaughters and it seems with a little help from fate, family, and 2 golden retrievers another is about to find her soul mate.

As a sought after nanny, Iris is burned out taking care of spoiled, rich, adolescents whose parents would rather lavish them with expensive gifts than spend time with their own offspring. Returning to her grandparents home on Lawford Mountain seems the perfect place to gain some perspective and decide what she wants to do with her future.  She wasn't expecting feelings of concern towards their newest guest's which include two young, very sad, children. That their guardian seems to know little how to care for them only confuses her more.

With his job taking him to remote locations all over the world Eric Johnson never really saw himself as a parent, and certainly not this way. But he quickly realizes he'd do anything for his niece and nephew.  And the first thing they all need is to learn how to have fun again.  Then, Eric is caught off guard by his feelings for the General's granddaughter who seems to know more about his new charges and what they need than he does.

Eric's struggle to traverse the heartache the children are going through while dealing with his own loss is just gut wrenching.

I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.

Reading “Iris” by Chris Keniston gave me a warm and happy feeling. What a wonderfully sweet story that starts out so sad and ends up with an amazing love story between a man and his orphaned nephew and niece plus a love story between a man and a wonderful woman. Eric has just lost his sister and her husband in a terrible accident and finds himself the new guardian of their children. He knows nothing about child rearing and has a job that takes him traveling all over the country. They come back to stay at a lakeside cottage owned by General and Mrs. Hart. They meet up with Lucy, the Hart’s sweet and crazy housekeeper and all the sisters in the Hart Land series. Iris, a nanny, has come back home to regroup after quitting her job of taking care of spoiled teenagers. She instantly falls in love with this hurting family. This is a well written book about how to find love through hurt. I’m better for reading it. You will be also.

Iris has quit her last nanny position and returned home to Hart Land. Iris is tired of the travel and the bratty teenagers. Eric doesn't have a clue how to help his niece and nephew when he suddenly became their guardian. With a vacation to Hart Land already scheduled, Eric brings the children there. Iris and her family might be the key to helping Eric and the children. I received a free copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a sweet and clean romance which I prefer. Hart Land is a small family resort in a small town in New England that I wish that I could visit. I love this series based on each of the granddaughters that are part of the family that own the Hart Land resort. This is a heartwarming story that focuses on what's most important in life - love and family. I recommend this book and series.

This series gets better with each book! I think as I read each one, that it's my favorite in the series, and then the next book comes along and it quickly becomes my favorite!

Eric is now responsible for his niece, Emily and nephew, Gavin, since their parents, (Eric's sister) died. He knows zero about kids. He was always away working and didn't spend much time with his sister and her family. In their will, specifics were set as to what would happen with these kids and Eric is taken on a whirlwind journey in life that he never expected!

Iris is a nanny and exactly what Eric needs in his life, in more ways than one!

I loved Eric so much! I felt so bad for him!! Such a sweet story!

I want to be friends with the family in this book! Iris is back at Hart Land after getting burned out as a Nanny to spoiled teens who don’t appreciate her. She is ready for a change until she meets Eric who is visiting Hart Land after losing his sister and inheriting her two small children. He has no idea how to raise kids, but with the help of Iris and her family he gets a little more comfortable in his parenting role. There are lots of heart in this story and once again Chris Keniston writes a feel good family story that you will fall in love with.

"Iris" will bring happy tears to your eyes and smiles to your mouth! What delightful romance story once again from the Harte family. One lost woman looking for a new path to take burnt out from annoying teenagers for way too long and an a man just becoming an uncle/father to 2 adorable small children due to tragedy. He has no idea how to be a father. But with the Harte family helping on all sides, anything is possible! Chris Keniston at her best!

Retired General Hart runs Hartland, the family lakeside resort in a small New England town. Under his watchful eyes, his 11 granddaughters have started to find love, each in her own unique way. Iris is a nanny who is tired of spending time with spoiled rich kids and comes home to the lake to escape and figure out what to do next with her life. A very endearing story about love blooming from tragedy.

Loved Iris. She was done watching over other people’s children. She was headed for Hart Land, but what she didn’t expect was Eric along with his niece and nephew. They were going through a rough patch after, him losing his sister and the children losing there parents. She did whatever she could for them as did her family.
He got a surprise he didn’t expect, and the kids weren’t happy. Eric would do anything for the kids.

See what happens. Laughter, tears and so much more.

Iris is fed up with the over privileged children she is a nanny for, nevermind then treating her like a servant. Eric is in over his head caring for his young niece and nephew. The attraction is there, and Iris sees what a caring man he is. I love this family and the support they give one another. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Eric arrives with his niece and nephew. Iris is an out of work nanny. I see a connection but will it turn into love? I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to the next one. This one was a little sad to me and the angst was different. Loved the ending. The children were so adorable and my heart felt for them and Eric.

The fourth book in the Hart Land series this is Iris Colby,Eric Johnson and his niece and nephew Emily and Gavin's story. Eric's sister and brother-in-law have died and left him to be guardian of the children, and he does not have a clue on how to help them. I enjoyed reading this story and seeing these four come together. I will be reading the next book.
