This is a Clean Romance, and this is the second book in the Jade Valley, Wyoming series. I have not read to first book in this series, but I do not think that hurt my reading of this book. To sum up this book ... it is about a Grumpy Man that has lost so much finds a sweet woman that smiles and looks on the bright side of everything. I loved the characters in this book. I loved seeing Gavin learn to love and smile again. I felt Gavin's ex needed to be locked up because who does that to their child. Maya is a great character and the perfect match for Gavin. I wish the characters told each how they where feeling and talked more during this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Trish Milburn) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
Another in the Jade Valley, Wyoming series, which one key message is don't go out into the wilds of Wyoming before a predicted snowstorm. Bad things could happen. But so also could a good thing; specifically, how Maya Pine, reporter of the local weekly paper, meets loner Gavin Olsen, a rancher.
After he rescues her, she controls her curiosity about him until several days into her enforced sharing of his little house because of that horrible snowstorm. Things are going swimmingly as they gradually get to know each other until she discovers intriguing paintings in the loft of the barn, which forces Gavin to get her out of his house and out of his life.
But then, the little boy he's been denied by his ex-wife shows up at the offices of the paper and Maya brings the boy to Gavin. His joy, however, is tempered by what he has to do to prevent his vindictive ex- and her parents from ruining his life. And, it turns, Maya's as well.
A tale guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes even as things slow begin to go right after all.
