Born of Rage is the third book in The League: Eve of Destruction series. I went into this book expecting a single story, but I got three stories. The stories are Born of Rage, The Neighbors and Fire and Ice.

Born of Rage features Jinx and Eve. The story focused on Jinx’s reunion with his younger sister, Dakari. A kill on sight order initiated by the League had Dakari running for her life. Jinx sets out to find her before the hit could be executed. A very short read, which left me wanting more.

The Neighbors tell the story of fourteen-year-old Jaime, who is certain his neighbors are up to no good and sets out to prove his theory. An oddball in this collection of stories as it has nothing to do with the League world. However, the premise intrigued me but it left me wanting more. It would be nice if Kenyon would rewriting this story with a lot more substance.

Of the three stories, Fire and Ice was my ‘favorite. In this story, we meet Adron Quiakides, a former League assassin and Livia typpa Vista. Adron suffers PTSD because of several weeks of torture he endured at the hands of a deranged man. Livia seeks a stranger to give her virginity to escape a forced to marriage to a man twice her father’s age. When Adron and Livia’s paths crossed, sparks flew.

The story, which featured a great cast of characters, was one of hope, love and healing. Not only did it give us some teary-eyed moment, but it also delivered a few laugh out loud scenes. I thought it was well fleshed out despite being a short read.

A very short anthology/chapter teaser containing 3 sections. Not listed as an anthology or teaser on Goodreads or Amazon and is currently $6.99. Very disappointed in the book or lack of, but Fire & Ice is still a beautiful and great story that is a must read.

Born Of Rage: 3.5 stars - Great to see a couple of characters, but at about 18 pages it is a short story or cut scene.

The Neighbors: 3 stars - 8 pages approximately, written 1978

Fire & Ice: 5/5 stars reread (previously read another anthology, In Other Worlds, original read 2016) - I love this look into Adron and Livia's story.

Too short!

That is the only thing I can say about this story. I miss The League... It is such a wonderful book series. It's like Game of Thrones was remixed by Science Fiction.

BORN OF RAGE

And you were never supposed to rule my father's empire. But this is the Ichidian universe, Tobin. Every life has a price. — Jinx Tievel

Born of Rage is the possibly the earliest of The League stories. The only potential character that is established is Jayne, but I'm not certain it's the same person. I also recognise Jinx's name either because of the social media for Sherri's pages or because he turns up in the rest of the series. It's really short, shorter than I really would have liked. The characters are likable but you do need to know the world to know what is going on. It does hit all the right beats for a League novel. The fighters are badass, the women are sassy and family, especially found family is extremely important. There is as always a fantastic term of endearment in native tongue.

THE NEIGHBORS

Stop reading all those horror novels and watching those creepy movies and TV shows. No more Stephen King. It's all making you paranoid. — Ma

The Neighbors was first published in 1978 and is the first book Sherri ever published. It's only about 12 pages long. It is really quite different from what I usually read of hers.

This is a just under 50-page book that is definitely for the fans. It does a brilliant job of showing how far an author has come. It does need some editing. I found some spelling mistakes in character names.

Nope.

I love this author. I have books in this series that are dogeared from rereading them. This book got a one star only because no stars isn't an option. 40 pages...snippet of a book, not developed and for the price she is charging, a rip-off. So disappointed after a long wait for a book in this series.

How do you rate a short story? It’s definitely difficult. All I can say is I loved reading Born of Rage and it has me wanting more of “The League.” These books are a must read

This one was a bit weird, there were 3 stories, 2 League ones and a random really weird one that didn't seem to fit any where.

I liked the 2 League ones, while short they gave some quick glimpses into the world, with characters we have seen before. Loved the brother sister reunion and how one favorite character was able to find happiness and relief.

Born of Rage is the eleventh book in The League series. It is a short book but worth reading if you are a fan of The League like I am. I enjoy all The League stories, but enjoy this shorter ones as they give you additional background on some of the "minor" characters from the series.

Like previous people said. The story was fine but just disappointed because of the length and cost of the book.
You don’t get enough from this book to warrant buying it. So just hold off and wait for full length stories to get your SK fix.

This is not a full novel, but an anthology that takes it's name from the first story which is also synopsis blurb for the book (makes absolutely no sense, false advertisement). The middle story is something random from McQueen's early days and the last story was part of another anthology that I already read last week, so I didn't bother reading it again. I feel stiffed since I was expecting a full League novel and instead got what amounts to a cut scene. >.<

Very short

I am a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon and The League. That being said, I'm grateful that I was wise enough to compare the page count to the book price before deciding to get this from the library instead of buying it like I usually do with League books. My library didn't own it yet, but I filled out a short request form and had it in a few weeks. Born of Rage is interesting but it's not even close to being a novella. It's one chapter long. It's a fun little snippet to read while you wait for Jayne's full length novel to come out. After Born of Rage a new story starts called The Neighbors. It's a dozen or so pages long and I have no idea how it fits in anywhere. Seems random. If you are interested in a short story that has Jayne as a background character, I recommend getting this at your local library. Personally, I didn't even have to leave the house to get it.

This was a short taste into the League series. From what I could tell the story happens when the League’s grip is still strong on the Ichidian Universe. It also introduced Jayne’s sister! Who I probably knew she had and had forgotten about. Additionally it has the short story The Neighbors in it and that was good. Don’t miss out on this novelette.

I was so disappointed in this! For almost $7 to get what I thought was the sample 3 chapters to find it was the entire story! I can’t believe I wasted the money! This is not even enough to warrant being called a second book. Wouldn’t waste the money.

Ok short filler and rewrite

The actual Born of Rage was very short. The product description and other reviews warned as much. That being said it was interesting and it does have me interested in a 'what comes next' kind of way. The short story after Born of Rage, The Neighbors, was confusing because of content and there was no context for that story. The biggest section of this book was a rewrite of Fire and Ice. It started at 24% and lasted till 99%. The rewrite was a bit longer than the version I had originally read in 'In Other Worlds '. This version also included more context or references to things that have happened in the main league series thus far. It also gives some foreshadowing about some of the new characters we just met in Born of Rage, that let's me as a reader know that they will be important in future books. I also remember reading on the Livetheleague.com site that there was debate over property rights or something like that from a previous publisher that prevented her from making changes to the storyline before. I am assuming that the way the rewrite was included as part of this book with the additional author name, etc.. was her way of getting the updated story out to us. Regardless, even though it was short Born of Rage was intriguing, The Neighbors should be skipped over, and the rewrite of Fire and Ice is, in my opinion, worth the cost of this book and the time it takes to read it though.

Short but delicious

I will skip over all the other short stories and just dwell on the final one, it's my favorite and was 60% of the book. I haven't read a League novel in a while, so it was nice to be introduced to the characters again.

We get to see the Quiakiades family; all grown up. Nykyrian, his wife and kids all made an appearance. They also mentioned all the other heroes in one way or another.

This story picks up about 35 or so years after Bastion's book. Lots of new characters and seeds planted for future arcs, while still keeping focus on the main couple's story.

Adrian and Livia were such a great couple. Beauty and the Beast vibes with space, bloodlines, science, and magic. They fit each other so well. This novella also tied up many loose ends to the Nemesis original series. It jump-started the Legacy 2nd generation. The story was quite different from the typical League fare, but the stakes were still high. I loved the flip, the heroine is the savior, time and time again. The suffering and pain Adron endured for 8 years and in the book brought tears to my eyes. As if the writer understands how it feels for your body to fail you.

So glad they got their HEA. Born of Rage also tied it up with a bow and gave us an epilogue.

I got the Kindle version. Enjoyed it. My only gripe is the length of the story, but the plot was fully addressed....I just wish it was 300 pages longer!

Okay, so, I ws just a little let down that it was a short stroy, hints the 3 stars, over all it was good, but it didn't really have an actual ending. Amazon nor Goodreads - or any where for that matter - discribs the book as a short story. HOWEVER, if you look at the page count - if the site your on has that option as a look at like I do know Amazon does have in the discription of the book overview, you'll see how many pages there are, and that generally tells you if it's a 'short story' or not, and I will admitt that I did not look at that until AFTER I bought the book, which there's nothing wrong with, I should have looked, and I didn't.
Now, in defense for authors that do short stories or short short stories, there is absolutly nothing wrong with a short stroy, or a short short story, I just feel like this was more of a small filler that we didn't neccisarily need, persay. BUT, it was still good, could have been longer but that's not up to us, it's up to the person writing it. So, I won't fully complain or be mean about it when there's no need to be.

I read this story when it first came out and decided to reread it when I received Eve of Destruction because I learn that this book comes after that and I'm glad I did because the story makes way more sense now that Eve of Destruction is coming out. In this follow up short novella we get Dakari, Jinx's sister, running for her life to find this mysterious Eve of Destruction who could help her get away from the contract the League has out on her. What she never expects is to run into the brother she thought died so long ago. Eve and Jinx are there to find Dakari when Jinx learns that their brother has finally crossed the line and broken the promise to protect Dakari and in exchange Jinx won't come after him after what he did to their family. But that truce is off the table the moment he has Dakari in his arms. It's time to do what he should have a long time ago. I'm loving these short stories with Jinx and Eve! And I'm looking forward to more from them.

I'm really glad I didn't pay for this book and instead got it as a swap. I have the paperback version (not Kindle) and apparently the paperback and the Kindle version are different? I see mention of a rewritten story that wasn't in this paper thin book (not sure you could call it a book) that I have.

Born of Rage was 14(!) pages long. That's all folks.....

There was another super short story after Born of Rage called The Neighbors that was four (4) pages long. You do the math on the total pages that contained a story in this very small book.

Both short stories were fine.

I could speculate all day why the author would release a teaser and charge as much as I've seen it on Amazon for. I won't, but will say it's super disappointing she (or her publishing house) would take advantage of folks like that.

This book was extremely short but it gave us a lot to deal with and so little time. I found that even though you do not see her interact with Eve's gang at all and never seeing her have her own personality and that is Dakari and I want to see her be her own kind of self reliant woman and it would be cool if Eve trained her to take care of herself and to get revenge on the sister that her league assassin brother is going after for the same reason and it is going to be interesting to see the action packed story and I want to see the love affair of Dakari and Eve's brother. Also I found that the other story that was at the end of the book is kind of weird and it made no sense, but with Sherrilyn Kenyon it all has a plan.

Gave this a four because I liked the 2nd story.

I thought this was one story but it’s really a collection of three. It really should have been named after the bigger story: Fire & Ice.

1) Born of Rage. Just a scene about how Eve, a League operative rescues the last survivor of a royal family: Dakari Tievel.
2) Fire & Ice. A short story about how Crown Prince Adron Quiakides met and married Livia typpa Vista and how she helped him out of his depression and leave to love again.
3) The Neighbors. A little story about a young boy who spies on his mysterious neighbors and finds out sometimg he didn’t want to know. (Nothing to do with the League series.)

A super short story that introduces a few more characters to the League series and gives more depth to Jinx's history.

Al principio iba todo bien, luego entra una historia o capítulo que no entiendo de que va. La última historia me parece es la real "Born of Rage" y es más bien una historia corta, es buena pero el inicio del libro trata sobre otros personajes y nos deja completamente en el aire.

At first everything was going well, then a story or chapter comes in the middle, and I don't understand what's going on. The last story seems to me is the real "Born of Rage" and it is rather a short story, it is good but the beginning of the book is about other characters and leaves us completely in the air.
