The final, thrilling conclusion to the Master's Protégé duet

From the moment I first saw Violet Price, she bewitched me with her violet eyes,
Her bravery,
Her drive for justice.

I was obsessed.
Jealous.
I needed her all to myself.

Mine.

So I led her here.
I made her think it was her choice.

I demanded she give herself to me,
And in return...I gave her everything she craved.
Everything.

She sought vengeance,
My gift to her.
My atonement for the sins I've committed.

But it's time she learned the real truth...
And it's time to give her what she came for.

Erotic thrillers are not this author's forté: the narrative was filled with plot holes and loose ends; the resolution to the central mystery was cursory at best; and the inner monologues and dialogue were cringe-worthy (I think Ms. Henry was going for "witty," but, no). It is, however, consensual; the characters likable; and the MFC strong. Others, I'm sure, will like this better than I did. Note: Some secondary characters that first appear here for no discernible reason will get their own series. "Blow out breath" tracker: too numerous to count.

Great conclusion to the duology! I love how Violet and Cain work together. Secrets are revealed and they have some relationship issues to over come but they find a way to work together. I love Skylar. She is a crazy ally and friend to Violet. I love how Cain cringes at the thought of his sister having sex. Lol

I love Jane Henry’s writing and characters. I’m satisfied with the ending. I need to the other series I missed.

'Atonement' is the second part of Jane Henry's "Master's Protégé" duet and even though it hasn't been that long ago I read book one, 'Vengeance', I re-read it just to get my adrenaline up before reading this one. 'Atonement' picks up pretty much where 'Vengeance' left off. Skylar, Cain's sister, is living there in the mansion and healing with Violet's help. Things come to a head as Christmas is approaching and forces Skyler to come to grips with not only the time of year, and all of Skylar's decorations but the memories of her parents being killed. If you'll remember from book one, Armand has been let go for causing the accident that ultimately brought Violet to Cain's house. Well, he becomes a major player in this book as they follow the clues to find the killer of Violet's parents. Not only that but Armand has enough information to blackmail Cain into getting what he wants, or does he? This is a fast-paced, adrenaline rush tied up in a romantic bow. Add in two mafia families and a puppy and it just left me with a smile by the time I finished the book.

good book

I liked the first book and I liked the first half of this book and then it felt rushed. I kind of wish that the Rossi’s were a thing from the beginning. It would have probably made it more believable and maybe made me feel more invested. The ending was just not what I expected and it was not that dramatic. I liked the couple themselves. I just wished she built up her parents background more, delved into them and made them more important. Nothing was really explained about why the church hid her. I felt liked I missed a chapter, but it wasn’t there.

Cain & Violet

This book left me with mixed feelings. I loved the main characters but I felt like both books were lacking. I found myself skimming some paragraphs. There were huge gaps in the story so much I had to reread most of the chapters because I thought I missed something but no just lack of information. Most of it felt rushed while other parts were given way too much detail.

I was really looking forward to the conclusion of this story and although the intensity between Violet and Cain was still as thick and hot as before, the answer about her parents' death and the resolution of that part of the storyline was anticlimactic and over in a blink. You don't get a satisfying answer, or much of one at all, so that was a little disappointing. As always great characters and writing style, just a bit of a rushed ending this time.

I received an ARC for an honest and voluntary review.

TRUST ME, VIOLET

The story is told in two parts, with this being the second in the Master's Protégé series and keeping this reader turning the pages. There are secrets, angst, passion, power, control, and trust—but Cain and Violet will discover that trust is the key. The story has a great cast of characters, challenging interactions, haunting secrets, and missions to carry out. The story was a breath of fresh air in being unique and creative. Yes, you will have answers when you finish this book, but the journey is full of mystery and suspense. Will Cain and Violet survive the turmoil?

The story's plot will continue with Cain and Violet on missions and eventually putting the pieces together of the murder of her parents when she was four. It is a journey of whodunit and why—but they will encounter many obstacles along the way. The one thing for both Cain and Violet is these two loners are developing feelings beyond sexual chemistry and kinks. But, will love be enough? The story does have some scenes of violence, along with power play and sexual scenes.

Cain: I love you, Violet. God, woman, I love you. And I don't want anything to come between us. Not now, not ever.
Violet: You love me? I know, I know, that's not what a girl should say after a profession of love.
Cain: You're not any girl.
Violet: I love you, Cain.
Cain: Violet—what does that mean for you?
Violet: To love someone?
Cain: Yes. Tell me, Violet. Tell me what it means to you.
Violet: It means—accepting someone no matter what. It means loving them for who they are. It means working through everything that's difficult and threatens to tear you apart, because if you love someone, you make it work. It means helping the other person become the person they were meant to be.
Cain: Yes, baby. All of that.

This story is a hodgepodge of secrets, mysteries, lies, deceit—and with all that brings doubt and fears. People who all have a part in what happened to Violet's family will be confronted in due time. Will finding the answers to who killed the Bates give Violet peace to move forward, or will it leave her haunted? What about the rift between Cain and Violet? Will the truth tear them apart? Will there be forgiveness, or will they go their separate ways?

Cain: You're the kind of woman who values independence. You need to know that things are on your terms.
Violet: So you thought it best, in that omniscient mind of yours, to make those decisions for me?
Cain: I knew I could help you. I knew you'd want me to. But I had to make sure you were doing things on your terms.
Violet: Cain, how could I ever trust you again after this?

"It kills me to know that everything I had here—the friendship, the family, the love of a man a woman could only dream of—is now gone."

"All people react differently when they're angry. Me? I shut off my emotions. I can't feel anymore when I am angry. I retreat to a place of practicality, a pragmatic approach, I suppose. I think of what I can control, what I can do, and I throw myself wholeheartedly into that."

A simply wonderful read, great continuation to story that I am sure you’ll enjoy
This was a simply wonderful second book in this series I simply loved the continuation of the story and decidedly wonderful read about Violet and Cain who I found to be simply wonderful to read all about. The couple are very interested in discovering the murderer of the individual or individuals that are responsible for the death of Violets beloved parents when she had been no more than a mere baby.

Cain is playing a secret very close to his chest and even though they have a very intimate relationship and all seems to be going fine he has been holding off passing on this information, he is worried what she will do with him when he eventually comes clean. He is afraid that she might dump him for his deception and he knows that he could not blame her as honesty is vital too her and she values it amongst all else.

Both of the two individuals have their own little quirks which is what actually makes them endearing as you are reading this delightful story.

I know that you will feel exactly the same as myself and look forward to your reviews.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Cain Master is the head of Master Enterprises a top secret clandestine organization. They call him “The Executioner”. He sees Violet Price on a surveillance video and decides he wants her for himself and for his team. Six months of manipulation finally brings Violet to his house. Violet has a proposition; Cain helps her find her parents’ murderer and in exchange she will become a become part of his team as a consultant. They are at a stalemate in their negotiations when the alarm is sounded. Cain is informed that his younger sister, Skyler, has been taken and Violet immediately becomes involved. The understanding between Cain and Violet is that after they have rescued Skyler and dealt with her kidnapper, he will help Violet find the person who killed her parents. The plan is straight forward but complications arise from the beginning. Violet is Cain’s obsession and Violet believes that he is her poison and refuses to allow her emotions to interfere with her work on his team. Afraid that she will leave him, Cain has kept secret why and how he trolled Violet and reeled her into a relationship. The storyline takes you through a maze of a convoluted and intense relationship. The reader is drawn into the mystery and intrigue of who killed Violet’s parents and why they were executed.
A thrilling plot and compelling characters make this a ‘must read’!

Atonement
Master's Protégé, Book 2
By: Jane Henry
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Aaron Shedlock

Fantastic! This conclusion to the Masters Protege Duet had me on edge and totally in love with Violet and Cain. After helping Cain with her end of the bargain, she is still waiting, not so patiently to get information on the death of her parents. Cain is going to keep his word, but he has secrets that have not yet been revealed. He is not ready to let Violet go. Danger is lurking, and the two while well prepared may be in for the fight of their live. Thrills a minute with a heating passion that had my heart pounding, Jane Henry takes us on a journey of betrayal, danger, deceptions and love. Violet is such an amazing character. I love her independence, spunk and incredible determination. Cain is such a sensual alpha, impossible not to fall for and his skills are sure to keep Violet safe. It’s a fabulous listen and a great ending to their story.

Kai Kennicott and Aaron Shedlock finish out the duet with an incredible performance. Kennicott plays Violet so well, her persistence and passion are realistic and the inflections let us feel her hidden emotions. Cain, the alpha comes in with Shedlock giving him the edginess he needs and he adds those vulnerable inflections to make him lovable. A narration you will not want to miss!

What a smooth and seamless transition from book one to the
explosive conclusion of this exciting series by Jane Henry.

The story continues with Violet and Cain seeking revenge for
the death of Violet’s parents. Violet was on a merry-go-round
of emotions that plagued her dreams. Revenge was foremost
on her mind until, in the blink of an eye, the person she trusted
most betrayed her. The Betrayal shutdown her emotions.

Cain blew Violets trust out of the water and now he had one hell
of a job getting back into her good books. He had to think outside
the square. Violet loved weapons like other women loved jewelry.
Can this knowledge help Cain recapture Violet’s heart? Violet tested
Cain constantly, but he was the only man she would submit to. It
took time and a lot of grovelling before he won Violets trust back.

I loved Skylar’s warped sense of humor. I liked how all the pieces of
the puzzle came together. Cain and Violet made an perfect couple
in an imperfect world. I was blown away by how quickly I found
myself wrapped up in this story.

Yes!!! They’re here!!! Cain and Violet just wrapped up their duet and it was everything I wanted it to be! When book one ended I literally whined out loud. So many questions, so much I wanted to know. Well don’t fret, Ms. Henry answers every single one in fantastic fashion. The truth may set you free but it can be really hard to digest sometimes. Violet struggles to deal with revelations and Cain battles with letting go of control over every little thing. It’s a perfect ending to a wonderful duet filled with complex characters and curiosity building problems at every turn. What really happened to her parents? Who is after them? I read this in one sitting and I loved every page! My only problem was that it was over too soon!!

Could not wait to get this second installment of the Master's Protégé series. Loved the intensity between Cain and Violet. Definitely twists and turns galore. Guns instead of presents, or hearts in a human body, ingenious gifts for sure. I was always on pins and needles while reading, will she leave him, will they find who they are after, will she remember what she said when Cain reveals his secret? Absolutely awesome description of what it means to love someone. "He loves me, he loves me not." really hit the mark at the right time in the book. I'd love to get a book for Sky now!

Eeee, Jane Henry has concluded The Master’s Protégé with Atonement and it was so good. Cain and Violet are amazing characters. This story picks up where the previous one mostly left off. They’re still building on their relationship (spoiler note: SOOOO MUCH HAPPENS). They’re still hunting for who killed her parents (and it’s awesome). Oh, oh, and Violet? She’s as ruthless and cunning as it comes, and then she’s such a girly-girl saying some laugh out loud funny comments / observations. There’s a lot happening in this story as all the threads are properly tied up in bows and it’s thrilling in all the right ways.

You need to make sure that you've read Vengeance the 1st book in this duet before you read Atonement since it picks up right where Vengeance left off. Cain and Violet's story has plenty of twists and turns that's for sure. Even when we get answers it wasn't what we expected and it makes you question their need for revenge and the cost they've already lost trust which we know is really important in a relationship. The secrets, passion, power, and suspense Jane Henry is the master at creating amazing stories that you can't put down. I can't wait to read what she writes next. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

This is the second book in the Master's Protégé series, and finds Violet finally getting the answers she's always needed. This book picks up as the first one ends and finds Cain and Violet growing closer. The action grows even more intense as Violet gets closer to finding answers. Of course, all isn't perfect and the author works in a little angst to keep things interesting.

This was another fun book in the series. The writing is good and I love the intensity of the relationship. It's a fast paced story that's very easy to fall into. This is a second book in the series, and can't be read as a standalone.

In part two of this duet, Cain and Violet are back. I knew from the last book that I would probably be all over the place and I was. This story was hot, steamy, sexy, and once I started it, I couldn't stop. The story is a whirlwind and you won't be able to put it down. The twists and turns are some you may not see coming but it fit perfectly. Will Violet stay with Cain when she finds out his secret? This is the second book and you NEED to read book one to be able to follow book 2. I loved it and it will be one that I will read again!!!

This is the second book with Voilet and Cain, and its certainly an exciting end to the first story., Twists and turns in this story make every reader want to keep on turning page after page. These characters are made for each other, but when Voilet finds out what Cain has done her world turns upside down, and then she finds who her parents were, and even bigger wow for her.
You certainly wont regret one clicking on this book especially if you have read the first, its definately a wonderful second book in their lives.

five plus stars, you cant get a better story than this.!!

Wow! This book is fantastic! It is the conclusion to Violet and Cain's story. There is never a dull moment with these two! They have a connection that is so strong yet fragile at the same time when they have discord between them. Their own thoughts cause friction. Both have a lot to lose if they can't open up and trust each other with the brutal honesty of what they are dealing with. I loved the characters and their story. I read the book straight through. Who needs sleep right? Highly recommend this duet. I can not wait to read more from this author.

Great conclusion to Master's Protege. This is the sequel to Vengeance and what a great story. Violet is still searching for the murderer of her parents when she was a child. Cain has agreed to find him for her in exchange for her submission in the bedroom. She has upheld her end of the bargain, but is beginning to doubt Cain's commitment. Skylar is living in the mansion with them and can't help adding her two cents. Fabulous characters and a suspenseful story with lots of action and great love scenes. Never disappointed with this author's work and look forward to much more!

Excellent

Well I was a afraid this second book in the protege series would not live up to the first as this often happens in series which is why I usually only read standalone. Even thou I think it could have been one long book, it did not disappoint. The second one here equaled the first. I really liked the H and h. They definitely fit together. N the chemistry was 🔥. All the supporting characters also enjoyable. Especially throwing in my favorite kind of pups. The ending surprised me but it is a very good story.

Was excited to get a copy of the second book in this duet, and it didn't disappoint. Violet and Cain are back! They are hot on the hunt for the person who killed Violet's parents when she was a baby. They are also still having hot sex all over the place. But Cain has a secret that he needs to spill to Violet before someone else does. He is worried that she will be done with him when she finds out what he has done, and he wouldn't blame her. Violet is not a person who gives trust easily, and she knows something is off with Cain. Will these two independent, stubborn people be able to admit their secrets, and their feelings to each other?

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

This was the perfect conclusion to Violet and Cain's story. I really enjoy Violet. She's so brave and bold and knows exactly how to take care of herself and go for what she wants. Cain softened up a bit in this book and I like that Violet brought that out in him. This was a unique story and I'm glad it was told over two books because there was a lot to tell. Make sure you read the first Master's Protege book before this one.

Cain runs a top secret, clandestine security operation. Violet helped him rescue his sister from a serial rapist. Now, she would like to concentrate on finding the murderers of her parents. Together, they work intelligently and carefully to find the missing information. Will they untangle information to find the true culprit? Will Violet be satisfied? Will Violet and Cain find a way to true happiness?

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one! I love everything about Violet and Cain both as individuals and as a couple. They are super intense and their chemistry reflects that. I love that they are both dangerous and slightly disturbed. I love that Violet isn't a shrinking violet. I love that Cain is even more scary. The story came to a very satisfying conclusion and I loved every second of it.

Ahhh nooo!!!!

It the end of this duet. I'm so sad! I absolutely loved these books. Violet is on the trail of the man that killed her parents. And Cain needs to confess something that he is afraid will break them using up. Excellent story with characters that will have you booing the bad guys and cheering the good ones. Great duet to read. These are the kind of books that you will want to go back and read again. Wonderful job, author. You rock!!

Finding

This second part of a duet series is a bit fun and serious. There are exciting bits where they are investing together searching for her parents killer, then the bomb accept after the bomb surely a hospital or some doctor should have been in the next bit... But author just skipped it... It is a good story... Not sure it needs to be a duet maybe combined into a single story would be better though.

This is the delectable conclusion to Violet and Cain's story. This book has a real pressure cooker feel to it as you sink into a simmering brew of tension, emotion, desire, intensity, suspense, secrets, action and jaw-dropping twists. Seductive and steamy, this was one utterly luscious romance. This is my elective, forthright review.
