Holy smokes! I first want to stay I have been dying for this book. I legit stalked the author’s pages cause the teasers were killing me. I needed it like a fish needs water. After finally getting my hands on it, I devolved it. Seriously, read it in less than a day. I got annoyed whenever someone interrupted me and distracted me from my reading time. This book is similar, but also completely different than Gabby’s other series. I know that makes no sense, but while they both have dark themes, this book is 100% more insane. She went all out with this one and I loved every second of it.
Rebecca’s dad was the Hallowed Crow’s MC president and even though she was told to stay away from the club she snuck in when she was fourteen and kept coming back despite her dad’s protests. She knew from the moment she met Aiden, Ezra, and Killian she wanted to be not only their friend but more. So after years of friendship, she finally decides to make her move. The book starts out with a flashback to Rebecca’s 18 birthday. When I saw Gabby went all out I mean we get some serious steam from the start. Unfortunately, the following days after their encounter Rebecca is kidnapped and not seen or heard from until she is rescued two years later. Rebecca is brought back home, but her father doesn’t make it out of a battle. Now she is back with the boys she loved, but with lies, betrayal, and unresolved feelings things are tense, to say the least. She is broken and alone. She doesn’t know who she is and who she was made to be. My heart went out to her so many times. We learn more about what she went through during the story and seeing the after-effects was heartbreaking. But Rebecca is strong. She has learned to build a wall and wear a mask. She is able to detach herself from certain feelings. Aiden, Ezra, and Killian aren’t happy she is back though. They think she left them and it is her fault her dad is dead. With Aiden as the new president, he makes it his mission to get Rebecca to leave. There is a lot of back and forth between the four of them. Every time they guys would question what really happened I’d get so excited, but of course, guys are dumb and they end up missing the flashing signs. She does have one friend she can lend on. I loved her and Angel’s friendship and was so happy she had him with everything happening around her.
Besides the sexual tension between Rebecca and the guys, there is also a side of M/M to keep you properly entertained. Let me tell you right now, you are going to need a fan for some of these scenes. Every time I thought it couldn’t get hotter, bam I was hit with a scene that cause me to pant in public. Being that this is an MC book there is a lot of action happening. I don’t think there was ever a dull moment and it still wasn’t enough for me. Having read Gabby’s other series I knew she’d hurt me, but I should have known she would go hard just like she did the whole book. I thought I was going to go crazy waiting for this book, but now I’m questioning if waiting for the next one is going to be worse. I’m just going to make a list of all the different outcomes where everything is okay and the next book will be all sunshine and rainbows. Shhh. Just let me live my fantasy.
