Dragon Protectors of Wishing Moon Bay #1

The Dragon Defender's Destiny

Working for the Wishing Moon Bay police department is nothing if not interesting. Especially when your mom is dating the chief of police. Or was... But that’s another story.

When Luna is sent to investigate an assault and robbery, she’s surprised to find the chief suspect is a dragon shifter.

She’s even more surprised when the dragon shifter she tackles to the ground says he’s not the criminal she’s looking for. But he is her mate.

Two dragon shifters in one day? Can she trust Egan when he says he isn’t responsible for the crime but he’s willing to help her solve it?

Egan flies to Wishing Moon Bay to clear his head. After a couple of weeks involved in council meetings, he knows politics is not for him. But when he meets his mate, he soon realizes walking away is not going to be easy.

But maybe there’s a new role for him. One where he can help his people and be with his mate.

actually kind of slow

Even though I’m relatively sure this book is supposed to be suspenseful or (the beginning of) a mystery, it was flat in both areas. There was actually no suspense in regards to the relationship between the H/h nor the crime that served as the meet cute and the mystery. I shouldn’t say mystery, because the whodunnit was solved by about 75% in. The rest was low grade political intrigue. Kinda sorta.
Basically, this book serves as a setup for the rest of the series.
May I pick some nits here?
First, the relationship between Luna and Egan is soooo boring. She tackles him at a crime scene, even though he wasn’t running away. Then dragon shifter says to human “you’re my mate” and human says, “sure, okay” with no pushback whatsoever. The shifter, according to the lore, has no choice. Fate has made the decision. This is not true of humans, but she needs no convincing. And the fact that fate is supposed to choose a mate that complements him doesn’t even get an “I wonder why” when it turns out that they are both adults living with their mothers, and neither Egan nor Luna have adulting skills, especially in terms of running a household. Sure, they can share lawn work and home maintenance, but who’s going to do the laundry, clean the toilets, do the cooking? They won’t be able to get takeout every day living on a police officer’s salary. So, which mommy are they going to end up living with? Or will they split their time between Egan’s mom and Luna’s? Who will raise the children?
I really couldn’t get a handle on Cairnnor, or Wishing Moon Bay for that matter. Are these places self-sufficient, or is there trade with the world beyond? I mean, did Egan’s mother get her Tupperware©️ at a party over at Gillian’s place? Are there mountains in the Wishing Moon Bay area suitable for growing coffee, or is it magic’d up by the Witches and Warlocks in the town? Is there an auto manufacturer there, or is someone driving inventory through the tunnel that connects Wishing Moon Bay with the world beyond?
Anyhoo, although the whodunnit was solved, because the criminal wasn’t arrested, I’m sure this will be the overarching issue of series. I don’t know if the others pick up speed as they go along. I’m not sure I’ll read them

The Dragon Defender’s Destiny is the first story in the Dragon Protectors of Wishing Moon Bay and is also a spin-off of The Bond of Brothers (Wishing Moon Bay Shifters) series. In many ways, Luna’s and Egan’s story is a continuation of what happened immediately after The Dragon Shifter’s Desire (which concluded the first series in this set). After the chaos and the victory on Dragon Isle life is quite different for those who live in that hidden society. Politically it is indeed chaos and since he’s trying to not be pulled into the political debates (or positions), Egan goes for a flight, a chance to spread his dragon’s wings and head to Wishing Moon Bay to get his head on straight or perhaps just to get a break for a bit. The last thing he expected was to be tackled by a police officer who mistook him for a criminal or to discover that this beautiful police officer was his mate. Egan’s complex life just got a bit more complicated.

There’s a lot going on in The Dragon Defender’s Destiny so much in fact that to say too much would head into spoiler territory, and you really should discover those twists on your own. I enjoyed Luna and Egan, their story is filled with laughter, danger, steaminess, and the complication of two people’s lives when attempting to meld them together. I loved the side stories and chuckled quite a bit at the antics of two other people who are perfect together… if they’d just get over themselves and commit. If you love getting lost in a world that answers the questions of “what happened next”, then you’ll want to get started on the Dragon Protectors of Wishing Moon Bay… and find out for yourself. I had a blast and I’m betting you will, too.

Wishing Moon Bay, a great place to visit and find your mate!

This story starts off with Luna being sent to investigate a crime by a dragon shifter. While she is there, she meets Egan, another dragon shifter, and she immediately tackles him to the ground. After realizing he is not the criminal but her mate, they quickly set off to see what is happening. There is a lot going on in this story and you really get a flying view of what is going on in the Dragon Isle! Twists and turns abound to keep you on your toes! This is book 1 of a new Wishing Moon Bay series, but you may want to read The Bond of Brothers series before this. I am still trying to figure out how the reindeer story fits into this, too!

The pace is breakneck and the tone is hopeful with a character and action oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes but no details. The characters are vivid and engaging, including the secondary characters like Luna's mom. You can read this on its own, but I think that you would like this story better if you read The Bond of Brothers series first. Some of those characters show up in here. Enjoy!

3.5 stars. This just continues on from the previous book though it is meant to be a spin-off.
Liked Luna and Egan as a couple but felt there was little romance due to all the other events happening.
Did like Egan’s dragon and his can do attitude.
Whilst I did enjoy this very busy read, there were a few things that just threw me off.
The ongoing silliness between Saffron, Luna’s mother, and Colin, Luna’s chief of police boss, annoyed me for some reason. It seemed to overtake the story at times.
I did enjoy finding out about the dragons on Cairnnor and how they are moving forward. They seem to have a lot of major problems to deal with.
But I didn’t like the fact Haram is on the loose. Anyone who can behave as he has is a danger.
A few silly mistakes not picked up and the wrong number of people flying on Egan’s back. Should have been 6 not 5.
Read through Kindle Unlimited.

Wishing moon bay continues

This is a spin off series from wishing moon bay, but really it kind of just follows on from the last book of that series all the same people are in it (well a few it's a large town with lots of shifters) but this series is focussed on the dragons from there island there was only one in wishing moon bay iran, but now the dragons have defeated there evil Lord it's time for change but it's slow as some still love the old ways.the storyline was interesting. A few writer mistakes in names which is common for this author Caleb was not in this series yet but his name was there instead of who it was ment to be.really need someone to read before publishing.

I love her wishing moon bay series. Every book is very interesting. I can't wait for the next one to come out. The way she incorporates the romance with the mystery is good. In his book the Dragon is not looking but finds his mate. Then they get pulled into political turmoil in his island. While his mate who is a police officer has concerns for his island and for what is going on in her home town, as well as what is happening between her mother and the police chief. You won't be disappointed if you read this book. Harmony Raines has a wonderful way of writing. She catches your attention and keeps it through out the book.

Brilliant

The Dragon Defenders Destiny by Harmony Raines. The Dragons of The Dragon Isle have got rid of their evil leader Argothorn there is still unrest. Egan a Dragon shifter decides to go fly to calm his mind. He flies to Wishing Moon Bag and when he lands he realises his mate is near by. Luna is a police officer in Wishing Moon Bag investigating a robbery with violence and the perpetrator is a Dragon. She first thinks Egan is the third but soon realised that he is not but is her mate. From there things get complicated. If this series is anywhere as good as the first about Wishing Moon Bag it's a must read.

Destiny Desired

Luna, police officer for Wishing Moon Bay, meets Egan, dragon shifter from Cairnnor, the dragon island nation, through a mistaken identity mishap. Once they are properly introduced it is clearly a meeting of the mates. Great story following our protagonists through both political intrigue and personal conflicts. Excellent action based adventures, mysteries abounding and relationships blooming. Humorous, witty and well plotted this an excellent start to the next chapter of the saga of Wishing Moon Bay.

Another group of well written and entertaining.

First book of the friends of the brothers from Wishing Moon Bay. The protection of the dragon from the dragon city from the island. The law officers finding mate and the evil moves the lawlessness move at the same time.
Working together is a joy to read about A neat twist with the parents also still standing for the righteous and finding love.

Oh yea!!

Love it, Egan found the love of his life although they had a lot to deal with to ensure both Wishing Moon Bay and the Dragon Isles get along well without any issues. Apart from that damn dragon Haram who is trouble for them all, but the shifters of both Wishing Moon Bay and Dragon Isles will finally deal with him..so until then so looking forward to Matheus story...big fan as always Winzie19🤗💞 .

We now find out more about the Dragon Island

Egan and others worked hard to get rid of his uncle’s tyrannical rule. He wants to help change things, but thinks politics is not for him. He takes a flight to go think in peace. However, on his flight he senses his mate. Luna is a police officer in WMB and just got a case involving a dragon.

They fall in love while working on that case.

Well written story

There is nothing, at all, wrong with this book. I was just bored out of my mind & couldn't wait till it was over. It felt more like a detective drama than a romance. Its just my personal opinion. It is well written & if you like some intrigue & deduction you will love this story.

Good story

I enjoyed the story. I like wishing moon bay. I really really want to know why that dragon beat up the lady. That was the only part that didn't make sense to me. Plus who is to say that the father didn't earn that treasure. A couple of questions that will never be answered. Still a good read.

Not for me

This was boring to me. I didn’t feel like the main characters loved each other or felt any emotion at all. It was just bland. This is my first book by Raines and I have no interest in reading anything else by her at the moment. I’m giving 2 stars because the writing itself was very good but the story wasn’t.

was it the first book?

Loved the book except that it seemed like there must have been books before it. Several references hinted at previous stories even though this book is titled as the first in the series. If there were previous books it’d be nice to have known.
