Not what I was expecting, but it was a fast read so you get thru it fast. A romantice tale of how the WWII in Englang changed the lives of those that served and the women who who also joined forces to do their part in the wr effort. Show that tru love overshadows all. Friends Annie, Betty, Meg, Lily and the rest of the village as their lives are meshed together and overcome their adversaries in the mall village.

This was ridiculously cheesy, and I loved every second of it. The whole time I was reading this, I felt like I was reading a soap opera.......... come to find out, it IS a British soap opera! Ha! What a fun silly read.

The WW2 stories of the villagers of Beckindale reach their conclusion in this excellent 5th novel in the current Emmerdale series. There's enough dangling threads for another book - I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

This book is a good read for those fans of the soap. It puts a good back story and you can imagine what the characters were like as young people growing up
