This is a pretty typical setup for a revenge fantasy. A loyal servant is sacrificed in the games of imperials and executed after all the members of her team (The Owls) are killed in front of her. Her dying thoughts of vengeance linger as she awakens a few years into the past. Aideen decides to gather strength and take the country away from the king that has been manipulating her since killing her parents. She is forced to seek help from the man who formerly ordered her execution and tries to expose her secrets in layers. Only the neighboring prince wants more than her skills as an assassin. The execution is so so. A lot of things have to be assumed to explain behaviors and feelings. Our heroine has to be both weak and strong to move the plot forward and at points it can't decide if the action or romance should be the focus. There are worse renditions of this tale out there but there is no particular edge that makes this one rise beyond typical genre fare.
