Devin didn't think he would find love again after his wife died in an accident. He throws himself into his goal of becoming a Professor while working as a Grad assistant until he finishes his degree in hope of becoming tenured. He has his share of flings but he's determined to keep things casual for now, until he has to tutor the know-it-all he's encountered in previous classes. Now he's finally re-thinking forever but will he be able to move forward without interference?Dating is the last thing on Jorden's mind. Her main concern is to pass this dreadful chemistry class that she is really struggling with and to lose a little bit of weight. Seeing her friend Lisa start to date has her thinking that maybe, she should put herself out there; but first she has to deal with the TA from hell. He's rude and direct and he gets on her nerve but seeing him out of her element is giving her a change of heart.
I loved premise of this widower finding love again but I'm absolutely tired of the hot white guy falling for the supposedly less desirable black woman. This trope has been done so many times it should have been retired long ago. It's the same thing over & over. He a catch that is lovely inside and out with women clamoring for his affections while she's great on the inside despite not being conventionally attractive with no prospects because men don't pay her any attention. She's just grateful this hot commodity deems her worthy. Please evolve past these tropes. Both can be hot & desirable & still have an interesting love story because all Relationships are complex & nuanced.
The story pacing was off. They quickly went from not liking each other to dating exclusively. There was not enough togetherness to make their romance believable. What I needed to see was the progression of their relationship and that didn't happen until after they got together. An editor and a bit of chopping would fine tune this story.
I loved the suspense but I could have done without the typo. I understand indie writers. But in most cases it only takes proofreading your own work. Hopefully this author will get better
This was such a good story. I love how he didn't care if she was a thick girl. Together they proportion her weight. The happenings in this book were mind blowing and a tad bit scary. Read this book, you won't go wrong.
This is the first time I am reading a book by the author. She absolutely smashed it. I love both Devon and Jorden. The secondary characters is Jake and !is a were wonderful, though Jake stood out more for me and I hope he has a story. The author have very little information on Lisa. Was delighted at the possibility that Devon would walk again. I loved the story and the fact that it was not filled with excessive sex scenes.
Not what you expected at alllllllllll!!!!! Fabulous, unexpected journey. The characters were complex and realistic and relatable. The twists in the storyline are sooooooo good and captivating. I enjoyed this novel and look forward to other farings from. This author.
I enjoyed somewhat but the text needed editing. The language was stilted and choppy. I quit reading half way through because the writing itself was so bad. A good editor could have helped.
This enemies to lovers second chance story with the crazy white female twist was a nice read. Devin and Jorden had more in common than they realized, but Stacy wasn’t will to let her situation with Devin go.
Great enemies to lovers romance. Devin was a widower who was reluctant to love again after the death of his wife. After a day of fortuitous meetings with grad student Jorden, he realized that he not only admired her intellect but also her curvy figure. His overly aggressive and belligerent attitude gave way to a flirty and sexy side.
They decided to earnestly try being in a relationship when it became clear that they were both attracted to each other. Their relationship was filled with hot sex and cute moments, but also suspense and ex-lover drama.
There are a few editing mistakes but not too excessive.
Devin A Widower's Second Chance by J. M. Logan is a re-release and I hope that we will see more from this author! Devin is a very accomplished young man; he is currently in school and is the owner of a local gym. He lost the love of his life and is not seeking romance, just occasional companionship. While Devin is not looking for romance, he did NOTICE fellow student, Jorden. He even tried to get her attention a time or two only to be firmly ignored. Jorden is focused on her education and finds Devin to be arrogant and annoying. She is absolutely dismayed when her professor suggests that Devin should tutor her to strengthen her skills in her chemistry class. Neither Devin nor Jorden are particularly happy about having to work together and they find themselves off to a rocky start. However, as they study together the tendril of their initial attraction becomes a flame and they find love unexpectedly. Life would be amazing if only Devin did not have a stalker ☹. Ms. Logan has given readers an intense romantic suspense story with the tropes of enemies to lovers, proximity, and second chance at love. This story is augmented with strongly defined leads and engaging side characters. I would gladly read about Jake and Lisa together or singly.
