Editorial Review: "I have read hundreds of business advice books but this one stands out. It is real, honest and personal! More, every story is interesting and every one has a great life lesson. Great for any one thinking of launching a start up and even for those in business who want inspiration and to learn so much from someone who has done an incredible array of experiences." -Gary Shapiro, President and CEO Consumer Technology Association, producer of CES®
Chris Voss is an engaging storyteller who shares insights and experience from his own journey and other business leaders. The book details lessons learned from childhood forward and offers an interesting look at the motivation and drive to succeed from humble beginnings and devastating losses. It's a great read for anyone looking to build personal or professional success.
This is an exciting book - I've been following the author for years (excellent podcast) and love his style and insight -- even after just a chapter, I know this is loaded with gems :)
Chris Voss shares his entrepreneurial and leadership journey that started in his childhood. One of most stand out stories Chris shares was around 9-10 y.o. when he decided that he wanted a BMX bike. The catch was that he had to buy it himself. Over 2-3 years, Chris worked odd jobs, saved and persisted until he earned enough money to build the bike. To be so young and determined is remarkable. The lessons of Chris' book also apply the youngest of entrepreneurs. This is a great for anyone, particularly for parents who want to encourage their children to become innovative.
There are lots of good little tips, though in some area's I wish it went a little more into depth. Besides that, overall it is a good inspirational read and definitely gives you a lot to think about on what it takes to be a leader.
Started thinking it was the negotiator Chris Voss (it’s not), I the author is some other Chris Voss and it’s quite clear right away. The stories are alright, but when you expect kidnapping stories related to leadership and get just normal stories you’ll get disappointed.
Chris's book provides real business insights from a personal perspective. By sharing his experiences and drawing the lessons from them, he gives readers a compelling look at business that will help anyone be more successful.
