Zig Zinglar is AWESOME!
OK, he is a great salesman.... but more than that!
He is a master story teller. He encourages honesty and integrity, and absolute belief in whatever product you are selling.

A good (sales) technique with a good person is a GREAT thing.

If you ever need to make cold calls, I would recommend listening to him first. He will remind you that you are validly selling an idea/product/yourself, and that the person you will talk with actually *needs* you to call.

Some useful information on becoming better at making sales -- told by using humorous examples from his own life. The material is applicable even outside the typical sales arena, e.g., selling yourself in a job interview.

I learned not only about selling, but how to teach by illustrating your points with carefully selected stories.

I wish Ziglar gave more advice rather than personal anecdotes, but it was still entertaining to listen to - especially his southern accent! What I took away from this is that a good sales person can empathize with prospects, and sells people what they want before they realize they want it. They are also passionate about their product and truly believe that it will improve people's lives.
