When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
Another fun mystery set on Jo's alpaca farm. Her sweet neighbor wasn't in it quite as much this time as Jo tried to figure out what was breaking into her barn. She added a nice new dog to her animal family to help protect the alpacas. I sure didn't guess who the killer was, and the showdown wasn't too scary just quick and effective. I'm definitely going to borrow the next in KU when it's out.
Another will written murder mystery family and friends relationships adventure thriller short story by Patti Benning (Homespun Crochet Cozy book two). Jo years noise in the barn. Her investigation finds a dead body. She thinks she knows him but her parents told her he died twenty-five years ago. She finds out he has been in prison for the lasted twenty-five years. What was he doing in the barn? I highly recommend this cozy mystery series to anyone looking for a quick mystery read.Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read books 📚. 2023 👒😊🏡
I read Patti Benning Cozy Mysteries when I need a break from 6 & 7 hour books. Happy reading in 2023
I’m enjoying this cozy mystery novella series. I prefer thriller books, but I like to separate them with something light in between, and these quick reads are perfect for this. I am going to start on the next in series as soon as I finish this review, then go on to read a thriller. I like the characters, and even though I have actually figured out what was going on in both of the first two books before the main character Jo does, I still enjoyed the storytelling, and the overall premise. I am a new crocheter, so I like reading about yarn shops and other crocheters. Looking forward to Book 3.
This second book in the series was every bit as good as the first. The characters are charming and the storyline for the book was interesting. The mystery kept me guessing until almost the end.
Jo is as busy as ever. Two female alpacas are due to give birth and the shop is busy as well. When Jo discovers a dead body in her barn it definitely makes her nervous. When her alpacas keep raising alarms during the night she's even more nervous. She figures the incidents are related and that if she solves the murder everything will call back down.
Again, a short, fairly simple mystery. The big mystery to me is why it took Jo so long to figure out why people were interested in her barn. It was a bit too obvious. I like the addition of the dog. There wasn't much crocheting going on in this book. I'm also wondering what Rose does with all those single skeins of yarn Jo keeps giving her. There isn't much you can make from a single skein of yarn. If the yarns aren't from the same spin and dye lot, all I can think of is patchwork style afghans.
Jo is moving on with life until the alpacas weak her up in the middle of the night. She goes out to the barn but other than an open door things seem fine. The next night it happens again but this time she finds a dead body in the barn. This is a fun read and builds well on the characters developed in the first book.
Slightly longer than the first in the series, but I would still not consider this a book. Our book club paired the first two series installments together for one month's reading. Easy reading, but as with the first story, I felt the plot felt a bit flat and rather predictable. But then with the limited pages it was to be expected. I will not be continuing with the series.
Jo buys a white Pyrenees to guard her alpacas after a barn break in during the middle of the night. Can she figure out what's really going on before the intruder turns on her?
Book 2 was as good as book 1. You never know who your friends are. It was strange with the neighbors showing up all the time. I thought they were involved, but they weren’t. On th the next book
Loved this book. It has twists and turns with a surprise ending. I would love to be able to do what she does with wool. Being a knitter and crochet addict this really is a series that I can get into.
I am hooked on this series and Patti Benning is quickly climbing to the top of my favorite authors list. In addition to being such great stories, they are short enough to read in one sitting so I can go to sleep at night. 😆
I'm addicted to Jo and Pearl now. Having had an escape artist Great Pyrenees myself in the past, this four legged character was a great addition! Ready for book three.
Loved this book! My only complaint is that it was over too soon. Great writing, characters, and setting make this a must read. I look forward to reading more.
I'm really enjoying this series. The characters are developing nicely and the storyline is interesting. I will admit I'm partial to Rose and the alpacas!
Finished another of a book in this series. If you are looking for a quick read and everything you are looking for in a cozy mystery then this is the author for you
A strand of Murder is the 2nd book in the Homespun Crochet series and just as good as the first one! Patti Benning is a Good, Wholesome, Entertaining and Clean Language writer who will keep you thinking that the suspect is o e person when it is actually someone you never even considered.
