You Can Reverse Alzheimer's! We are no longer at the mercy of our DNA. The recent discovery of epigenetics--the science of understanding how to control the expression of our own genes--has given us the exciting new power to make conscious choices that reprogram our genetic destiny. In Reversing Alzheimer's, Dr. Timothy Smith shows you how to apply this new science to improve cognition and reverse Alzheimer's disease. Now, whether you have a healthy, dementia-free brain is completely up to you. In Reversing Alzheimer's you will learn
This comprehensive book by Dr. Tim Smith is a nuanced look at Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia (not necessarily the same thing). The gene expression of dementia is not the same as a genetic predisposition for it or for Alzheimer’s. Dr. Smith gives convincing proof that these diseases are preventable.
The book is partly a compendium, partly a history of Alzheimer’s, and partly a sharing of Dr. Smith’s regimen for prevention, including diet and natural supplement advice. Metals in brain tissue, including low levels of mercury or lead – that is to say, environmental factors – also play a role in brain health and in prevention.
Some foods must be moderated, having both beneficial and harmful effects. For example, the omega-oils in fish which makes it so beneficial must be balanced against mercury and other toxins that are no friend to brain function. Another tradeoff food is chocolate (read the book to find out why). One surprisingly simple fruit that is an Alzheimer’s blocker is the common blueberry. Dr. Smith writes in an engaging way that backs up each finding with scientific fact.
In general this book will educate those who might be dealing with a loved one with Alzheimer’s. The book offers hope for minimizing the effects of the disease for those already diagnosed, and, contrary to the popular opinion that Alzheimer’s is inherited, offers advice for preventing the disease for those looking towards the future. Recommended.
Reversing Alzheimer’s is one terrific book and resource for helping mitigate the effects of dementia. Although I have not yet experienced the benefits of the recommended diet, supplements and other suggestions like low-dose lithium, the science background Timothy Smith provides is simply indisputable. The reality in the world of helping those entering into the black hole of dementia is “what is the alternative”? Let someone slip-slide away or proactively do somethiing. The suggestions in this book give one something to do. Way to be, Timothy Smith.
