All of the animals are heading back to school. On each two page spread we see a specific animal either heading to school or enjoying a part of their day at school, i.e. snails moving slowly to school while the teacher tries to hurry them up or the ducks learning how to wash up for lunch.

Each picture has a humorous tone to it in coordination with characteristics of that animal featured in the spread (bears taking a nap - or hibernating).

Rec: Fun read aloud with kinders/1st and discussing with them about how in picture books that writing is not always telling us the whole story and we need to look at the illustrations for other clues or hints to make meaning or enjoy humor. Could ask them to think of another animal and what school would look like for them.
