Author and photographer Traer Scott presents the stories of twenty eight remarkable dogs whose lives began under very difficult circumstances. All were rescued from dog fighting gangs, unethical breeders, abusive situations, and owners who could not care for them. Each dog’s story will break your heart.

These innocent dogs have all received medical treatment and behavioral training and have become wonderful pets in their “forever” homes where they receive the love, care, and attention they deserve. Despite their previous circumstances, each dog has shown trust, love and affection for their new families. Each proves that there is hope for animals that many people have given up on, if only they are given a chance.

It is a wonderful book with a wealth of information and advice for would-be adopters.
Anyone who has ever loved and cared for a dog, or who would like to adopt a shelter dog, would appreciate this beautifully written and photographed book.

Some of the dogs' stories were so sad, but it was so positive to read about all the caring people that took these dogs in to help give them a better life.

heartwarming but heartbreaking at the same time

This is such a sweet book on how some sweet dogs were finally able to get a forever home. The heartbreaking part is that some had go through abuse and neglect to get there. But at least there is a happy ending!!!

Lovely

I like the book, as I do most books about sentient beings, especially rescues.
The book was just too brief for the cost.
