At the age of 5 he was diagnosed with dyslexia and could not read or write until he was 11. Adam had a very active imagination and used to create his own stories from books and comics.
Adam discovered his love for reading after discovering a new book series called Goosebumps! He started to learn to read with the help from his mum and knew from then that he wanted to write his own books.
The Big & The Little Monster was written back in 1994 and published in 2017.
His book Goodbye Mother Bear was nominated and shortlisted for The Write Blend Book Award 2022.
His newest book Sinister Shorts is a collection of short stories for children inspired by the old Goosebumps books has since been nominated for The Write Blend Book Award.
Away from the desk Adam enjoys walking, nature, playing his guitar, surfing and collecting autographs. He loves watching films and has the one film credit in the film Next Door directed by Matt Shaw.

This is a sweet little emotional story of a bear called Faraday who lost his mother recently due to sickness. Faraday was suffering from an emotional turmoil because he could not bid goodbye to his mother who passed away in the hospital and did not return home while he waited for her to come back home soon after her recovery.
But Faraday bear was very lucky to have a supportive father, school teachers and other animal friends who stood by him during his mood swings and emotional setbacks. Together they helped Faraday come out of this grief by sharing their experiences and suggesting ways to bid mother bear a goodbye.
Author Adam D Searle has sent across a beautiful message through his book. He wants to convey little children two things. Firstly he has portrayed the importance of having concerned friends and how one should behave with a friend who is suffering from a mishap. It’s so important to be with the ones who are grieve stricken. This support gives the mourning person lot of strength. Secondly he has shown the importance of having a memorial service. Remembering someone who has left for heaven through various kinds of memorial practices does bring joy in your life. It lets you come out of the lament.
This book gave me the opportunity to have two important conversations with my child. Firstly, about being supportive and concerned and secondly becoming a good human. This story is not only about a grieving child but also about understanding and caring friends.
I loved the book. It is after so long that I read an illustrated children book and I got nostalgic. It was so fun to read and I found the illustrations by Ian Ward so captivating.

This book is a heartfelt and child based story about loss and how a young bears friends all pull together to help him through his grief.
This is a fantastic message and I’m sure will be beneficial to children who are struggling with the loss of a loved one. Nothing can replace them but knowing there are people around you supporting you and memories you can make can help make the painful process perhaps a little bit easier. I love the concept of this book and the fact that it’s written to help youngsters with the grief process which adults find it hard enough to navigate, never mind small children who just want their loved ones and don’t really understand. We need more books like this in this day and age to help youngsters through the mental health minefield.

Goodbyes hurt, but the goodbyes that we could not say hurts the most. Adam D. Searle brings a very good book for kids in form of Goodbye Mother Bear: Faraday Bear and Friends.
Faraday Bear has lost his mother recently, and he couldn't say goodbye to her as he always thought that she will be fine and one day she will come back home. But it never happened. After the death of his mother, he always remained sad, grief was a constant companion. His friends teacher and father all tried to help him. The new student Jack Badger, helps him cope with the grief and also helps him in saying a final goodbye to his mother.
This book is great not only for the kids but adults too. It says a lot about the importance of love and care in this world, the importance of good and supportive friends. At the start of the book one can feel immense pain and at the end a sense of happiness and peace.
This book is for kids, but for me every person should read this once.

I cannot praise this story enough. We need more books on grief for children and ‘Goodbye Mother Bear’ is such a beautiful story filled with wonderful ideas of how to support children through their grief. Any adult that reads this book to their child is given so much scope to engage with supportive dialog with their child.
Not only does the story prepare children to understand how people might respond to them when someone they love has died, but it also pays attention to all the feelings that might come up. Reassuring children that all feelings are okay and natural.
The story shows you wonderful ways to say goodbye to loved ones and gives hope to ending the suffering that is experience in the beginning of grief.

Tackling a tough subject for children 🤗💜

A story for children coping with grief.
Faraday bear is so very sad and a little bit angry. His mother has died and he didn't get to say goodbye.
This beautifully written story about a young bear, takes us on a journey of survival and learning to live with someone we have lost.
His journey takes us through all different types of feelings. He finds a way to cope with his loss and makes a special place where he spent time with his mother.
The book is a must for children coping with grief and for children to understand about losing someone 💞
The book isn't sad and through the words and warm, engaging illustrations, brings us to a positive conclusion.
Well done on this lovely story about a very tough subject.
