Wow! Where do I start with this review? At the beginning I suppose, that’s where I was literally hooked into the story and taken on an incredible journey with Isabelle. This book was about Jamie MacKenny as well as his brothers but the main focus is on Isabelle and let me tell you, her story is one that has many dips among the highs.

Isabelle to me was quite gullible but she did have a master manipulator pulling strings, so it was understandable. I seriously wanted to strangle him or do some other form of violence towards him, hmmm… this to me shows how embedded in the story you become and you truly do. I wanted so much more for Isabelle and her sister, Charlotte. I admired Isabelle’s strength and determination, her hardworking ethic and love for her sister too.

Jamie has always been that ‘farmer boy’ who shunned the MC some of his brothers were in and we didn’t get to know him very well. It was an absolute pleasure becoming acquainted with his character in this story, I liked him enormously. He also seemed perfect for Isabelle and really lived his family motto of ‘family first, always’, which luckily was the girls too!

I enjoyed the link in with the previous story yet it wasn’t a repeat, which I loved, it was from a different perspective and cleverly done too. The suspense element that was like a cloud over Isabelle’s head caused a tension while you waited for something to happen. Although I admit, when something happened I could see it might result in that cloud bursting(not wanting to give anything away 😉), there were other things that I didn’t predict and certainly not how they would happen.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and totally recommend this book and series to everyone.

Learning to Trust Again

I was so drawn into this book with everything this author offered. It did have its sweet moments not only between the sisters but between Charlotte and the MC’s enforcer, Cutter and the budding romance between Jamie and Isabelle. Jamie is one of the MacKenny brothers but unlike some of his brothers he’s not in the MC. He is a farmer and even though he may not be a part of the MC he and all of his brothers live by the mantra of family first.

Isabelle and her sister Charlotte are with the same thinking of family first. Now Isabelle is on the run with Charlotte in tow running for their lives with Isabelle’s crazy husband after her. Will Jamie and his brothers be able to save the two women once her husband tracks her down?

This was so well written with the look at the world of abuse, the pure love of sisters, the men who surround them and learning to trust again.

This book started so well I actually never put it down to heck with responsibility. I absolutely adored Isabelle and Jamie’s story. Reading all what Isabelle had to go through is a hard read but since I know this author I know it will be worth it. I find all characters this series of perfect and these two fit right in. I always want more because they feel like family. Don’t miss it.

The Spark of Time appears to be taking this series in an entirely new direction. In all the books preceding it--Spark, Spark of Vengeance, Spark of Hope, and Spark of Deception—that had the MacKenny brothers on stage and in the spotlight, The Spark of Time opens with the spotlight squarely on Isabelle. Isabelle is in the spotlight and dominates the stage for the book's first half. We don’t encounter the MacKenny brothers until chapter 12 or 13. It was an opening that I wasn’t expecting because the foreshadowing at the end of Spark of Deception led me to believe that we would meet up with the MacKenny Brothers at the beginning as usual. Also, in the earlier books, Kelly pretty much balanced the romance elements with the MC action, but The Spark of Time is much heavier into the romance than the MC action. Still an exciting and satisfying read.

Good book, was a little quick at the end. Not a lot of tie up for the characters. I'd like to have a book about Charlotte. Lots of typos.

This is the fifth book in this series. Jamie is the brother that doesn’t want anything to do with the club and the things that come with it. Isabelle is on the run. She thought she had a met a wonderful man who loved her instead she just met someone who decided that she fit the mold of the type of woman he needed. It didn’t take long for the hurt to start. Jamie knows that Isabelle is hiding something but he wants to get to know her anyway. He finds her and her sister interesting. Jamie is determined to get Isabelle to let him and to let him be with her. He doesn’t care that that means her sister coming with them on dates or being involved all the time. He figures she will tell him what she is ready. Jamie has his own issues to work though. Will he be able to protect Isabelle and her sister? This relationship may bring him closer to his brothers and their club. Could it show him that the club isn’t all that bad after all? Wonderful job Kathleen. I love this series and all her books really. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Great job Kathleen.

4 1/2 stars!

I do not consider this to be a stand-alone read, as there are reoccurring characters, overlapping / consecutive timelines and overarching themes. I highly recommend these be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping / abduction, torture, fighting, domestic violence, rape, mental and physical assault, murder, threats, betrayal, etc.

There are grammatical issues throughout, mainly misspellings, typos, and an incorrect word choice.

⛔️ Warning: if you haven’t read any of the previous stories, then the following may contain spoilers.

Last chance …

I gave this 4 1/2 stars because the majority of this story is about Isabelle’s courtship, marriage and escape from her husband in Chicago. The first mention of Jamie and the MacKenny brothers doesn’t even occur in the first half of the story, he is first mentioned at 52%.

I understand why Kathleen Kelly used the majority of the story to build the background of “Belle”, but some of this could have been consolidated. I think the reader, myself included, would still care about her and would buy into / be invested in her getting away.

In this story, Isabelle is mentally and physically abused by her husband. She ignored all of the warning signs and then he uses threats to her family to keep her in line. With the help of friends, she is able to escape with her sister (who has a mental disability). Isabelle purchases a bakery in a small town. After she has been there for about 3 months, she meets Jamie and other members of the MC, when she delivers a special ordered cake from the brother Angus.

Angus knows right away that Isabelle is special and is someone he wants to get to know better. Unfortunately she has placed him squarely in the friend zone. After he visits with her a few times it is apparent that someone has hurt her in the past.

Can Jamie show her that she is special to him and earn her trust? Or, is her past too much for anyone to overcome? Has she done enough to stay hidden from Chase?

Book 5

I love the combination of the brothers in the MC , and the brothers in "normal" jobs. Once again a story line you didn't want to put down.

My first Kelly read and absolutely not my last! This was off to an addictive start and the pace never faltered. Despite coming into this series late,

I was not lost or confused, ever. I definitely want to go back and read the others as it seems this world is full of lovable characters.

💛 Abusive husband.
🖤 Danger.
💛 Female lead on the lamb.
🖤 Disability representation.
💛Small town.
🖤 Corruption.
💛 Farmer/ rancher hero.
🖤 Fresh start.
💛 Entrepreneur heroine.
🖤 Suspense.
💛 Darkness.
🖤 Vengeance.

I came to admire the writing and technique many times. This read was fun, both in a ‘read to escape’ way, and just as someone who appreciates good art and great writing.

I suspect this author will become one of my favorites before long.

Prompted real feels and an all-around fun ride.

4.5 stars.

Isabelle and Jamie

He wasn't the man she thought she married. She quickly learned that painful lesson. But family is always first and she'd do anything for her family--not the man she married. Including escaping with her sister the first chance she had.

Little did she realize what awaited her. She settled with her sister in small-town USA setting up a business that they can work at together. Her bakery puts her in touch with a man who draws her but she can't let anything happen. She has too many scars external and internal. Hiding her fear isn't easy.

Jamie and his biker brothers would never let a woman be mistreated. Will they have a chance for a future or will her past interfere?

The story is touching, funny, emotional, steamy and one I will read again. Wonderful series with characters to remember.

Isabella has secrets that have her running for her life. She is in an abusive relationship with a rich husband, but she didn’t sign up to be a punching bag nor will she let her sister be verbally abused by said husband and his family.
Jamie is trying to have a life away from his brothers, because in his mind the MC always brings trouble and danger to the family. He loves his family, but doesn’t want to be involved.
When they meet the sparks fly and the attraction burns hot. Neither of them are really interested in having a relationship, but can’t stay away from each other,
When danger comes for Isabella, then Jamie must ask his family for help and he hopes that they will be willing to help.
When there is danger around you can always count on your family for support and to help bury the bodies.

So once again Kathleen has done it

Isabelle has a past and secrets. Will they destroy her future?
Jaime MacKenny is a man who likes the quiet life away from the MC some of the McKenny brothers are involved in. And the trouble they seem to find.

Isabelle is new in town and owns the bakery and they meet when Angus orders a cake for Maddock and Cherie’s engagement party, and it has to be delivered at a certain time.

Can the past be let go and the future new. You will have to read it and see.

PS: I love that the Sal Agositno, Kat and the Grinders from Kathleen’s previous books make an appearance. Maybe there is more to come from them. Who knows

CAPTIVATING!!!
Kathleen Kelly writes another captivating addition to the MacKenny Brothers series. Spark Of Time is an intriguing tale about love and family. But it's also a tale of secrets, possession and pain. Isabelle is hiding from something when she meets Jamie, of that he is sure. The question is, from what? Time will soon tell. Will her brutal past finally catch up with her in this small town? Or is she finally free at last? Kathleen's writing style will keep you glued to your Kindle in this page-turner, to find out. If you haven't started this series yet, what are you waiting for? Kathleen Kelly is one author you don't want to miss.

Spark of Time takes us on a journey that at times is heart wrenching but the one thing it reminds you is Family First Always. Jamie and Isabelle’s story is not an easy path, it is overflowing with emotions, angst and drama. A story that will grip your heart and soul hard and will not let go. At times you will be on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding and your pulse racing. Their story shows us some good guys are monsters and some monsters are really just saviors in disguise. Spark of Time is about fresh starts, fighting to survive and true family. Be prepared for the epilogue to have you craving the next book in this addictive series.

Jamie may be a MacKenny but he isn’t in the MC. He loves his family and family first always.
Isabelle has taken care of her older mentally challenged sister since her parents died. He has a catering service. Meets the man who is supposed to be the love of her life and take care of her but she finds out the hard way he isn’t what he should be. The girls manage to get away. Find themselves where the MacKenny’s are. She’s still leery of how the men are but she finds she does really like Jamie. When she gets comfortable her past finds her. Jamie has to decide if the way the MC handles things is how it should be taken care of. Love this group of family. A must read.

Isabelle was living a nightmare and did the only thing she knew to finally do, Run. She ends up meeting Jamie whose family is in a MC that he's not part of. After everything she has been thru Isabelle doesn't trust easy and wants to keep him at arms length. Can Jamie show her that not all men are like what she's running from? Will her past catch up with her? The book is a little different from some. The beginning half is about Isabelle, her life, marriage and running from it. Then it picks up where she's starting over and meets Jamie. There is subject matter for some that might be triggers. And though you don't have to read the other books in the series I'd recommend reading them.

Holy what a read this was! Once I picked up the book and started, I ignored all adult responsibilities and didn't stop until I was done. Isabelle was such a strong courageous woman, what she went thru and what she left behind was amazing. Not all women have that strength. Jamie is not quite the alpha his brothers are but still he's getting there, he's a bit more shy and a bit less sure of himself, until Isabelle enters his life. She needs safety and he provides that for her, she needs someone to give her time and heal her brokeness, and he's that for her. Loved this read!

OMG it was so good to read a book that just sucked you in from beginning to end! Isabella is an independent woman whom also is very devoted to her sister! Add Chase in the equation he's a total jerk , idiot, and every other bad name I can think of.
Then there's Jamie who I like to call the knight in shining armor 😉. There is so much I want to say but I'd spoil it. Absolutely one of the best books I've read in a while! It has some triggers. But was written so well. After the last brother gets his story, I hope Cutter and even Charlotte gets their story!! Excellent book!

Another good addition to a series I don't want to end.
This book will be a hard read for some.
It was different than the others, because of the tough subject matter that needed to be addressed before the book and series could progress.
So I found myself having a whole bunch of mixed emotions from the first page till the last. Just know that like always the author makes it worth it.
Loved some of the old and new side characters in this too. This story definitely has a bit of everything to make it stand out in it's own way.

I am so loving this series!! Each book keeps getting better and better IMO. This story is an emotional roller coaster I just didn’t want to get off. Isabelle suffers heartbreaking and traumatic experiences that no one should have to live through. Finally she escapes with her sister in tow and end up in a small town where she meets Jamie. Unlike his brothers Jamie is a little more reserved and shy but after meeting Isabelle and she is running from something he knows he has to step up and protect her. Will Isabelle‘s past catch up to her?

Jamie

Kathleen drew me in from the very start with Isabelle and Jamie's story. My heart hurt for her after all she endured at the hands of her no good husband. I loved Charlotte and the relationship she has with not only her sister and Jamie, but Cutter as well. Jamie showed Isabelle how a man should treat a women and I'm so happy they found each other. I can't wait to read Lochlan's story because after that epilogue I have a feeling were going to see him on his knees begging for forgiveness.
P.s. I absolutely love the cover of this book.

Holy moly!

I absolutely love this series and Jamie's story is no different! I was grabbed from the first page. What Isabelle experiences, sends her and her sister Charlotte running.
When Jamie firsts meets Isabelle he has a feeling she is running from something or someone but he is drawn to her. The MC seem to take her and Charlotte under their wing too.
When her past finally catches up with her, the MC are behind Jamie and they will do all they can to help. 'Family first, always'.
What a great read! I have pre-ordered Lochlan's book already!!

Oh how I've missed the MacKenny Brothers. Spark Of Time us book five in the MacKenny Brothers series and is Jamie and Isabelle's book. I will start of by day that there is detailed descriptions of domestic violence as soon as this book starts that might be triggering for some. This book was and amazing read. Isabelle and her sister Charlotte deserved all the love after everything they've been through and Jamie is just the person to give said love. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

⭐⭐⭐Spark Of Time⭐⭐⭐

Jaime MacKenny has finally learned that family means everything, he learns staying away from his brothers cause of their lifestyle will never change when he needs them the most. Isabelle took her sister and ran for their life cause of who she married, all she wanted was to finally breathe but she didn't know she would meet the love of her life in Jaime MacKenny the farm guy. She finally felt what it's like to be treated like a person and being loved, author Kathleen Kelly did it again with this one⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely love this series!!! Jamie and Isabelle’s story is a rollercoaster of emotions. What she suffers is traumatic and heartbreaking. Finally making an escape, taking her sister with her, they end up in a small town where Isabelle meets Jamie. It takes time for her to realize Jamie, his brothers and the guys from the MC are good guys. And when her past comes back to drag her back to hell Jamie will do anything to keep her safe.

I LOVE this series. Each book gets better and better. Jamie and Isabelle's story was beautiful. Reading the interaction between Isabelle and her sister Charlotte was so sweet. Every character in this book made my heart swell at how loveable they all are. Charlotte's interaction with Cutter the Enforcer was the sweetest thing I read in a long time. This book is not only filled with several sweet moments, it also has a lot of angst and story building that keeps you engaged in the story.
