This book is part of the Warlocks of Amherst series which is part of The Universe of Destined Paranormals.
I read this one before reading book 1 of this series, as I have read the two previous series so really wanted to know his story, and honestly it should have been before the Honey Creek series, it would've helped with the world building etc. (which there wasn't much of in book 1). It was still a good read though and sets you up for the rest of this series so would recommend actually reading before starting book 1. I had wanted to know more about these two after they first appeared in book 1 of Honey Creek Den, how can you not want to know more! especially after 12 books so I don't think I could have waited to the end of this series to read it. it was good to get the background on both MCs, and it was a sad start for Wallace so it was nice to see him complete, healthy and happy after such a long time, the book does skip periods of time perhaps to keep the book short like the rest, though I doubt anyone would complain had this been longer, given who the book is about.
I like that these stories aren't too long as I think it would get a bit drawn out, but I found that the Honey creek series, Timber wolf series and then book 1 of Warlock of Amherst are all carbon copies of each other, there just isn't enough differences in the couples dynamics or how their mating's, births, and angst (super low) for me that I could easily skim read and not miss anything as you could definitely guess what was going to be said or what would happen, and I was totally over the overuse of sweetheart as the term of endearment, there are so many more that could be used to give the couples at least one difference. I have continued to read through the series though as I am determined to read Atticus from the Paranormal Council Enforcers series, (have a way to go yet) but have found that the Warlocks of Amherst book 2,3 and 4 have slightly broken away from repetitiveness of the previous books, although similar they do keep you intrigued enough to want to continue, which I am super grateful for and can only hope that continues through the rest of this series and the next two.
If you like the MM instant/fated mates, heats, MPreg, shifters, warlocks, low angst, age gaps (not all but a few), not long stories, lots of characters, then I do recommend reading the series within The Universe of Destined Paranormals.
