I found this book on the shelf of the 3/4 grade Elementary school teacher I am doing Pracitum I with. About a five hour read, I found it hard to put down. A young Japanese American girl growing up in of all places Georgia, tells the story of family life living as a minority and the things she did to learn to co-exist. Warm and funny but blunt (like me) Katie tells of the love she has for the people in her life. Their foibles provide a constant smile to the readers face. The ending is sad and provided a good cry. I'm not saying anything else! Read the book.
