Last week I was a waitress. Now I’m turning into a monster.
No one knows the truth, except the faceless man—a twisted sorcerer who’s hellbent on stealing my soul.
With secrets and danger close on my heels, the only one who can help me tame my inner beast is Jaxson Laurent—the Chicago alpha. Our chemistry is explosive, but the rift between our families runs too deep.
Do I dare trust him? The last time we worked together I barely escaped with my life. And if it comes down to choosing me or his pack, I know who he’ll pick.
Time is ticking, and my life is hanging in the balance. We must unmask the faceless man before he brings darkness down on us all.
An action-packed urban fantasy, Untamed Fate features a kick-ass heroine, a dangerous alpha hero, and a steamy slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance.
Prepare to be drawn into a mysterious and magical world, full of demons, shifters, and sorcerers.
This story is set in the wider Dragon’s Gift universe created by Linsey Hall, and if you enjoyed the archaeology, history, and daring in her books, this adventure is for you!
Veronica Douglas is a duo of professional archaeologists that love writing and digging together. After spending an inordinate amount of time doing painstaking research for academia, they suddenly discovered a passion for letting their imaginations go wild! A cocktail of magic, romance, and ancient mystery (shaken, not stirred), their books are inspired, in part, by their time in Chicago and their archaeological adventures from around the globe.
Savannah has had quite the past few weeks. She goes on the run from werewolves (that she did not know existed), found out there is a Magic City full of every lore creature, discovered she is a sorcerer and something else (too terrifying to consider), and now she is fated to the one man who hates her family and would like nothing more than to break the fated mate bond.
I mean if just that paragraph doesn't make you want to pick this up and see what the hell is happening I don't know what will.
Great world build. Secondary characters are amazing! Storyline is exciting and non stop action! Savannah and Jaxson are hot and cold but it is working for me 💕
I am absolutely enamored with this story! The first book dug its claws into me deep and I can't get enough of this series!
The plot really picks up in the second installment of the Wolf Bound series. I felt that the first book in the series dragged a little bit in places, but I didn't feel that at all with this book. The flow of the story was actually perfect. The pages kept flying by swipe after swipe. The plot of the story really thickens in this book and we get so much more information. There are still plenty of things that are a mystery and I am so looking forward to uncovering them as the series progresses. I like the clever way that the authors have erected the story. I am really enjoying their writing style as well. The narration is very welcoming and ultimately mesmerizing. The world-building is gorgeous. The authors really transport the reader into the story with vivid details and interesting world-building.
I grew so attached to the characters in this book. Savannah is one of my favorite kinds of female main characters. She is strong-willed, brave, independent, and she has a good heart. She can be fierce when she needs to be and she doesn't back down. I loved Jaxson's character in this book too. In the last book, I didn't feel as connected to his characters but I didn't feel that way at all in this book. His character development was wonderful. His character definitely felt more distinct in this book. There was definitely a connection to the character. I really liked the dual POV that the story was told in so we got to hear both Savannah and Jaxson's inner thoughts. I am really loving all of the side characters in this story. Especially Sam and Casey. Some of the characters are still very mysterious. With so much turmoil over loyalties and bad blood between families, it is sometimes hard to tell who can be trusted.
The romance in this book is smoldering hot! Savannah and Jaxson have an electric, almost searing chemistry. I am so here for the forbidden love and enemies-to-lovers vibes in their love story. Their banter is delicious and the push and pull that they have is so tantalizing. There are some big developments for Savannah and Jaxson's love story in this book. Some revelations and a whole heck of a lot of fan-yourself moments. There was also a tiny spark of promise that Sam and Casey might be love interests at some point. If not, it certainly looks like they may be interested. If so, I ship that 100%!
Overall, this is an exciting series with tons of mystery and action. This book brings so much more to the plate and I am so stoked to see what happens next in the series. If you love imaginative paranormal worlds, characters that bring on all the feels, and a thrilling plot that keeps you guessing then this series is definitely for you! I am totally sold on this series and I can't wait for more!
“I make my own destiny. I refuse to believe in fate.”
“Join us. In the darkness, you will find your answers. Take what you want. You belong here. ”
The romance is garbage, and she's still flighty and bigoted against werewolves. It's not a slow burn, it's just Savannah being tstl and hateful against herself and her friends. There's glimmers of her becoming cool and interesting but then "heat pools her core" and she goes back to being mean or annoying.
I'm also mad that the arc didn't properly resolve either. The mystery is solved but there was no closure or discussion with her aunt or any of the other parties involved.
Normally, sequels are redemptive in a way that I can forgo all the inconsistencies in the first book.
Savannah just completely ruins this story for me. Not only is she a hypocrite, but the arc between the two MCs gives me whiplash in the worst way. They both equally hate and are attracted to each other and it doesn’t contribute to the story other than the fact that they’re mates. It didn’t feel like an enemies to lovers or a slow burn; It felt like an ugly mash of the two and it felt completely chaotic.
She makes the most random and idiotic decisions (against her wolf, her pack, her family, her friends) and is continuously shocked when things go awry. It was so painful to get through this one. She wants control of everything and is defiant to a fault, and it lands her in some pretty unsavory situations. She lies to herself, denies EVERYTHING and refuses help at every turn. She truly annoyed the fuck out of me.

The characters are interesting. I like Jason's personality. Tough, dominant,, alpha but able to budge when it's for the best. The story line is interesting enough which I why I gave two stats. But my goodness, Savanah is obnoxious. She's OVERLY stubborn and prejudice. It's makes her really unlikable. I love a strong female MC but she gives no leeway to Jaxson even when he tries hard for her and ignores his base instincts. Also him and his pack are "MONSTERS" and she's disgusted with them. Very immature way of reacting. I feel like many authors forgot how to make a strong female MC without making her any OVERLY independent, rude, obnoxious woman. Strong females have a group of supporters, they can ask for help sometimes, they can have decent conversations without being angry. I read multiple books a month, I am noticing a pattern.
I’m so happy I finally got around to reading UNTAMED FATE! I was really looking forward to the next chapter in Jaxon and Savy’s story, and I’m glad I wasn’t disappointed. The mystery that I’d appreciated in Wolf Marked was still here, but while in the first installment there was more attention to building the world, what I loved about this one is that we get to focus more on the main characters and their relationship. This isn’t to say that the world didn’t expand, because it did and we get to visit some pretty interesting locations and explore some truly whimsical magic.
My relationship with Savy continues to be a little strained. I adore her strong mind, but I can’t say I always agree with her reasoning, especially when her stubbornness puts herself and others at risk and she refuses to accept help. On the other hand, Jaxon was a huge surprise! While I sometimes struggled with his character in the first book, something about him pressed all the right buttons this time. Maybe it’s because I’ve developed a strong taste for the protective alphas who make “nobody touches her but me” their way of life. I didn’t think it was possible, but the chemistry between Savy and Jaxon was even more electric in this installment. I really love their antagonistic banter, but when they lower their shields the sparks FLY. Fans of slow burn and forbidden romance really have their hands full with these two. AKA me. I have my hands full, and I swear I scream at those wolf pups to “just f*ck already” every other chapter!
While some of my theories regarding Savannah were proven true, there is still so much to uncover about her LaSalle heritage. I have some theories—and some trust issues—so I can’t wait to jump into the next book to find out more!
Another great book. Once you start reading it's hard to put down. This book was absolutely fantastic, if you think book one was good then this was even better. So. Much emotion toward each other, the twist turns and mayhem I absolutely loved this book. Please hurry up next year the the third book… Really do your self a favour and read these books….
I was super excited to dive back into this world! And I’m so happy I did. Savannah seriously had me rooting for her. I loved her strong character and her determination to get things done.
The chemistry between Jaxson and her was OMG, loved it so much. I like that their relationship has slowly developed and strengthen thru out the course of the series.
I must add the side characters in there, loved her family. The process of Savannah acclimating to this new life was super interesting to read about.
I think this book gave more opportunities to learn about the characters which I love! I’m such a sucker for character lead books. Looking forward to much more!
Huge thanks to the author for sending this my way. All opinions are my own
Untamed Fate really kicks in to high gear. The evil sorcerer has raised the stakes even higher. Wolves are going into comas and nothing is working to wake them back up. Savannah and Jaxon begrudgingly team up to find a way to save them while also keeping the sorcerer from kidnapping Savannah.
Savannah is doing really great adapting to the magical world. The question is will she be able to handle what hits her next? And who or what she becomes? Jaxon is still well Jaxon. I love their banter they give as good as they get. Their chemistry is off the charts no matter how much they try to fight it. We finally get a few answers pertaining to the sorcerer but then even more questions pop up.
I love all the twist, turns, mysteries and traveling. Expect the unexpected. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens with Savannah and Jaxon.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Practically in denial Savy finds herself struggling with her transformation and questioning her relationship with Jaxson. But terrible things continue to happen and in an exciting and dangerous adventure Savy and Jaxson go after the wizard who seems to be pulling the strings. I loved that Savy has a strong personality and is not easily swayed. Jaxson seems to disagree with himself, and his attitudes toward Savy are sometimes galling. The LaSalles keep me intrigued, what are they really hiding? Action, suspense, mystery, intense emotions, magic, exciting scenes, fierce fights, secrets, danger, romance and passion. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received free from BookFunnel and I enjoyed.
Cons: -annoying FMC (can she grow A LITTLE PLEASE) -underdeveloped world / magic system -lies of mission -self loathing trope -very plot driven (I want more characters and relationships) -still underdeveloped secondary characters -I feel like this could have been the end, but the conflict is being over complicated -annoyingly slow burn -many repetitive conversations and inner monologues
This book is making me angsty and I have a feeling the next will be the same. I may love it, maybe DNF 🤷🏻♀️
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I settled in to read this one, the second book. First off, I have to say that at times I’d like to punch Jaxson. He is just so aggravating, and I generally don’t like his attitude. Aside from all that, though, this is a great book. It’s well-written, interesting, full of action, and has an interesting plot. I am wondering where the information Savannah learns is going to go. If you loved the first book, you’ll definitely love this one. If you haven’t read the first, what are you waiting for?!? Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I love this book! It keeps building and building. The twists and turns had me biting my nails wanting more! The Dreamworld hands down just fantastic it had me on edge and questioning what exactly is Savvy and what will we get in book 3. The ending girl...I wanted to throw hands with someone. I Can Not Wait till the next book!
I really enjoyed the first book in Savannah's story, but I feel this second book is even better! The characters evolution is getting really interesting. As we learn more about her, it raises more questions about her past. This is done in a way that definitely holds the reader's interest. I am really looking forward to reading the next book.
I felt like I was waiting forever for this book which I wasn't because it came out quickly but the first book was so good I couldn't wait for this one. Yes you will want to hit Jaxson over the head many times but it's so worth the read. This second book did not disappoint and only makes you long for what's next.
Veronica does it again. Suspenseful, intriguing, historic and much much more. Always on the edge of your seat and craving more. I couldn’t put the book down. December can’t come soon enough.
The pull between Jax and Savy is breathtaking! I was so hoping they would give in this time! I love the adventure in these books. From reaction to acceptance. Can't wait for book 3!
What a wild ride! As always, the tension between Savannah and Jaxson was amazing. I loved the storyline and the dreamworld! Very original and creative! I can’t wait to see where the next book takes us! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶 Readability: Easy to understand Flow: Fast pacing
Where to begin?! So turns out i was right, surprise surprise. Now I don’t think billy made her a wolf, I still say savy was born as a hybrid, hopefully il find out in the next book, I mean even though it was predictable I still want to know what happens
Wow!! Outstanding story. It was even better than the first book. The blurb gives a wonderful description of this book but it’s so much more. It’s a magical fantasy with magical creatures both good and bad. The bad have targeted Savannah but she’s only been exposed to magic for a few short weeks. Jaxon is alpha of the wolf pack who hates her family so there’s a lot of drama, anxiety and frustration between them. The story is packed with action, suspense, mystery, intrigue and romance. I received a complimentary copy of the book and chose to write a review. I look forward to the ongoing story in book three.
Savy will find out that she is something more. She will not know who to handle it. Savy is also finds out more information about her family. Savy will have hands for with all the changes in her life. She finally finds outs who is after and why.
There is some interesting twists and turns in this book. The authors weave this story so well that you will be glued to the book to find out what happens next.
