Paprika is a successful businesswoman, a New Yorker of Italian origin. Job and career consume her, forcing her to neglect her personal needs as well as her friends and family. Her heart is broken from a previous relationship and its consequences, and a rigid upbringing has made her a very introverted person. She wants a romantic relationship, but she doesn’t know what she’s doing. Not like Dill, a naïve and suave delivery boy with an angelic attitude, handsome, and always surrounded by beautiful women falling for him. He doesn’t have a worry in the world, and this makes Paprika very nervous. But he's the guy who could help her with her feelings (and with...sex). Bridget Jones’s Diary meets Sex and the City, with a pinch of The Devil Wears Prada in the new international hit by acclaimed creator MIRKA ANDOLFO (UNNATURAL, MERCY).
Neapolitan artist and writer, she is one of the most complete and eclectic Italian creators in the international field. Her upcoming Mercy is going to be published almos simultaneously in Italy (November 2019, Panini Comics), France (January 2020, Éditions Glénat) and United States (March 2020, Image Comics).
Her ControNatura (Panini Comics) is one of the most successful Italian series of the last few years. Published in the USA by Image Comics under the title Unnatural/b>, it’s a best seller hit with several reprints already. There are also Spanish, French, German, Polish, Mexican and (upcoming) Brazilian, Czech and Bulgarian editions.
Andolfo has been collaborating with DC Comics since 2015, having lent her pencil for titles such as Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Bombshells, Teen Titans, Green Arrow, R.W.B.Y. and Hex Wives (published under the cult-imprint Vertigo). Together with the writer Sylvain Runberg, she is creator of The Under York Chronicles (Éditions Glénat).
She also wrote stories for BOOM! Studios (The Amazing World of Gumball) and illustrated two issues of the award-winning Ms. Marvel series by Marvel Comics.
In 2012 she created Sacro/Profano (Edizioni Dentiblù), a huge bestseller published in United States, France, Netherlands, Germany, Serbia, Spain. As an artist she’s drawn comics for Dynamite and Aspen, as well as some short stories for Vertigo and DC’s Young Animal, and she’s actually working on covers for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Valiant, BOOM! Studios, Aspen, Zenescope.
As a colorist, she worked on covers and comics books of important franchises such as Geronimo Stilton, Adventure Time, Ice Age, Peanuts and other series and volumes published all over the world.
During her collaboration with Topolino magazine (Disney’s Mickey Mouse), she has colored numerous covers (including the cover of the historical issue 3000) and stories, working with artists like Giorgio Cavazzano, Corrado Mastantuono and Fabio Celoni.
When she is not working, she loves good food, reading comics and… sharing photos of cats and wolves on Facebook.
I haven’t liked any comics I’ve read since last year and it’s making me mad. The art was fun in this one but what even was the story? That and the dialogue/layout were a total mess 🤷🏻♀️
I first became of Mirka Andolfo’s work in the pages of her creator owned horror series, Mercy. Well, no, that can’t be right, because I was already following her on social media, but I digress… Mercy was incredibly good, but this is a completely different kind of comic…and yet equally good, if not better.
See, I first saw Sweet Paprika quite a while ago, on Andolfo’s Facebook, and made a mental note to check it out. As the months went by she posted more about the book and I became more interested, and more frustrated that I still couldn’t order it! And then, finally, it was available to order, and so I ordered all six non-ratioed covers…and also a few more variants…and I’ll probably order some more too… BECAUSE I LOVE THIS BOOK!
I mean, I knew I would, if only for Andolfo’s quirky, sexy art style. But there’s so much more to this than good art. You see, what isn’t mentioned in the solicit text above is that Paprika is a devil living in a world of angels and devils. And Dill is an angel. And as much as Paprika is deeply unsatisfied with her like, so is Dill. Because when Dill tries to invite a woman out to dinner after hooking up with her she brushes him off. See, what they’re both looking for is a connection with someone, as both of them are living shallow and unfulfilling lives in their own way.
Sweet Paprika is very much a soap in comic form. Yes, the characters are supernatural beings, and a lot of the situations are ridiculous and fantastical, but the drama is grounded. These people seem more than just cartoon fantasies.

Jej barwny charakter i butną zawodową osobowość świetnie dopełniają fantazje o bliskości z innymi i życiu erotycznym, które usilnie próbuje hamować.
Paprika is a highly successful Chief Creative Officer in the publishing industry, but her introverted nature and years of putting her career over everything else has left her friendless and lonely. On top of that, Paprika's father pushed purity culture on her from a young age, and the trauma from his constant shaming has left her struggling to form romantic relationships. When she finally decides to pursue a relationship with her crush, she ropes in Dill, a sexy delivery boy who has the ability to charm just about everyone, to help her gain some experience in the bedroom... I think you can figure out where this is going!
The artwork is amazing, though the dialogue/plot is sometimes hard to follow. Still, it was a fun read and I love Paprika and Dill. I'll definitely be picking up the next volume!
Okay okay the art? Fucking spectacular, so expressive, appealing, the shape design and lineart is INSANE. I have and will continue to use it as art inspiration. The story . .......... So so so sexual. Like reading a porno without (much) porn. This was like microdosing on straight desperate and sexually repressed women culture. Not my cup of tea but I honestly can't blame the author for having fun and drawing what she wants. If it was just a story without art tho? 2 stars.
Vedremo i volumi successivi.
☆ bohaterowie to same ego topy ★ TW: trauma, seks
Fantasy Illustrated Paprika is the MC heroine, the monster denizens an allegory about harsh empty lives of celebrities. She's powerful, driven, mean, and lonely, and can't relax because of her fear of disappointing her father. Artwork is flashy, but it's nearly over the top. Interesting but commonly told story, and I'm not sure if I'm sold on the MC herself; the first book is awfully short to cover so much and entice me enough to want to know more about a lonely and emotionally repressed rich girl.
Has potential but the higher cost of illustrated stories when I'm on a budget curbs the enthusiasm. And the delivery boy has her pegged but is also pretty casual with his sex partners. Nothing wrong with that, but the MC needs a sincere approach. May pick up book 2 when finances improve.
I wanted to try something new with my graphic novel selection, and this definitely was very different from what I am used to reading. Despite this, I found a comic that is a little rocky but very promising. While the themes were quite crude and raunchy, it is not just for the sake of it. This comic gives a unique and comedic take on recovering from a toxic relationship. I found myself giggling at the various expressions and rooting for my favorite possible couple, so I would say it was a success in that respect. While this isn't a masterpiece, it is a fun junk-food kind of book. I would definitely recommend this one with a grain of salt. Just be aware that this book is intended for adults, and therefore it has partially censored (but still explicit) scenes.
I honestly don't know why I keep picking up Mirka Andolfo's books. I suppose it's the lure of the artwork. The story here makes no sense aside from an uptight little boss demon who is extra horny needing to learn sex? And starts learning from a boy toy delivery guy she hates? Idek. The panelling is a mess, the jokes don't land, and the dialogue is endless and overdone. So much of this book makes zero sense and is everywhere. Its like reading whiplash.
I ended up liking this one a lot more than I thought I would! The art style is nuts and amazingly done. I also really like Paprika; even though she's extremely uptight, it's so clear her "HBIC" demeanor is a cover. This story is extremely raunchy; it fully leans into its "sexiness". Kinda mixed on the angel delivery guy, he reminds me of Johnny Bravo but not an a-hole. I'll keep reading to see where this story goes!
I totally enjoyed getting to know the characters in the story. Not only is our work, extraordinary beautiful but I feel like I could relate to paprika a lot. I am so looking forward to what the next volume has to offer and I’m really hoping that the series continues. Not only is this enough that I am inspired by but truly is something that deserves to be shared. That being said if it’s shared, it needs to be shared with mature people.
I’ve noticed people were confused on the story, yes the story could have been extended more to see more background on her parents but it was straightforward on why they are not together in the second volume cluster of comics.
Sweet paprika is about a late 20’s maybe early 30’s demon who was told that any sexual desires were wrong by her father, to the point she cant express those desires and wants and she is a bitch in the office. The story does feel rushed but I felt it was a good read.

Author really put thought into the story and I’m really happy about that. Art is beautiful and it’s been really fun to read. Looking forward to the other volumes!
I have followed Mirka's artwork for years and I couldn't be more pleased to see her baby done up in Volume One. Paprika, Dill even Burtel, I love them all. A good read that gives off dramatic vibes, but wrapped in sex and high fashion.
I just couldn't read anymore. The artwork was colorful and great, yet somehow cute and awkwardly steamy in parts. The story was just all over the place and parts kept repeating to the point of being annoying. Not worth continuing even to finish.
I expect from others what I expect from myself. That's all. Because I am a young woman and a devil in a world of demons and warrior angels, all locked in an eternal dick-measuring contest.
It’s a nice twist on angels and demons. Poor little paprika got a daddy so hard pressed that she be great that she’s forgotten (afraid) to do anything else. We’ll see where this goes.
This is one of my first experiences with this type of graphic novel and I loved it more than I expected :). The artwork is great, I love the style, the story is fun, spicy and paranormal. What else would you want?! Highly recommend this dramedy to everyone.
